The Circuit Molester Covers Tara Busch for The Bob Moog Foundation

This one in via The Circuit Molester

"Here is my entry for the Laura Busch remix contest that is raising money for the Bob Moog Foundation. It's mixed kind of hot so listen on bigger speakers if possible. Better yet download it and listen to it on your stereo. Am I crazy or does something from soundcloud sound better if you download it? This is my first electronic based song and I would love some tips, feedback or comments. Enjoy!

A couple of weeks ago I sent my Moog Tribute Edition Little Phatty back to the factory in Asheville, NC for a factory upgrade. In addtion to updating the internal software, the good folks at Moog added some CV(control voltage) outputs to interface with older/pre midi synth gear. I'd been experimenting with CV in my DIY and circuit bent gadgets so I was excited to play around with the real deal in the Phatty.

In one of my phone conversations with the Moog factory someone mentioned that Tara Busch from AnalogSuicide.com was hosting a remix contest to help raise money for the Moog Foundation's student outreach program and as soon as I got my Phatty back I was on a mission.

My main studio was rented out for the month and since there was a deadline I pieced together a makeshift laptop studio in my dining room.

External Synths..................
Waldorf Micro Q
Moog Little Phatty
Realistic Moog Mg-1
Korg Chaos Pad
Assorted DIY/Circuitbent Noise Maker Thingys.

Soft Synths..................................
Arturia v collection
Roland Jupiter 8
Minimoog
Prophet
and Modular Moog

Oh yeah, I had never used Ableton Live before. Using a friends laptop I struggled for a week but I finally got the hang of it and got my track in 1 day before the deadline.

Someone that is used to hearing me play with Grayson Capps and the Lost Cause Minstrels might be a little suprised by the electronic nature of this song but it's still me. I've just decided to embrace my inner Circuit Molester and explore the realms of electronic music. I'm having a blast!

Tara Busch EP Remix Contest to Benefit The Bob Moog Foundation

"Moog Siren Tara Busch Releases EP, Remix Contest to Benefit Bob Moog Foundation

Foundation Celebrates 5th Anniversary with EP, New Logos, Fresh Program Direction, Limited Edition Poster and Archive Inspired Apparel

Asheville, NC - August 24, 2011 – The Bob Moog Foundation (BMF) is honored to announce that synthesizer and vocal sensation Tara Busch has donated a three song EP to support its mission of igniting the innovator inside us all. The ethereal electronica EP, Rocket Wife, created specifically for and donated to the Bob Moog Foundation, is available for download at Bandcamp.com at the following link: [link]

In conjunction with the release of the EP, Busch and the Foundation have issued a remix contest using the 17 stem tracks from the title track of the EP, Rocket Wife. The stem tracks are available for download at: [link]

The remix contest begins today and ends at midnight on October 15, 2011. All submissions should be uploaded to the “Rocket Wife” group on SoundCloud via this link.

The Bob Moog Foundation will announce three winners on November 10, 2011. The winners will have their remix posted on the BMF Bandcamp site where it will be available for sale, with proceeds benefitting the Foundation. The grand prize winner will receive a framed limited-edition archival image of Bob Moog, a selection of BMF merchandise, and the opportunity to collaborate virtually with Busch on a track where she will supply vocals and synth soundscapes. Two other winners will receive runner-up prizes.

Tara Busch is an American producer/musician/remixer and score composer. She is influenced by the rich, complex harmonies of Brian Wilson, BBC Radiophonic Workshop diva Dellia Derbyshire, and the innovations and futurist attitudes of electronic music pioneer Bob Moog. She is known for her richly textured, vocally orchestral electronica, and her psychedelic, ethereal remixes.

Busch reflects, “This is a homage not only to Bob Moog and his legacy, but to the effect the synthesizer had on my music, creativity, and life. What Bob did, most famously with the Minimoog, was to make the groundbreaking world of synthesis available to everybody, not just for the privileged few.

Though grateful for my voice and writing ability, I think having a more embracing attitude towards merging the creative and scientific worlds when I was a child would have been beneficial; not just for my music, but also for my development in general. I think Dr. Bob's SoundSchool will help kids to develop open, bright, embracing and creative minds.

I'm excited and inspired by their quest to educate children and adults alike about ‘the intersection of science & music’ and hopefully this EP will help introduce more people to the Bob Moog Foundation. One hundred percent of the profits from the EP and the remix stems will be donated to the Bob Moog Foundation.”

Sunday, August 21, 2011 marked the sixth anniversary of Bob Moog's passing and the fifth anniversary of the BMF's formal launch. In celebration of that milestone, the foundation is making daily announcements of new projects, branding and fundraising opportunities. Monday, August 22 saw the launch of the Moogstress blog, written by Michelle Moog-Koussa. On Tuesday, the BMF announced their new logo, which features the innovative spirit of “Dr. Bob” and an offer for a limited edition poster designed with materials from Bob Moog's archives. Later in the week the BMF will release a new merchandise line, Dr. Bob's Archive Series, featuring artwork found in Bob Moog's extensive archives. The BMF directs the preservation and interpretation of the archives for future generations of journalists, educators, innovators and fans.

The Bob Moog Foundation ignites the creative and innovative spirit in us all through exposure to interactive educational experiences rooted in the pioneering legacy of Dr. Bob Moog. Our work includes:

· Dr. Bob's Sound School (formerly MoogLab) teaching children and adults science through music in a hands-on environment.
· Dr. Bob's Archive Preservation Initiative. The BMF directs the preservation and interpretation of Bob Moog's extensive and historic archives for future generation.
· The Moogseum, a future interactive facility where music, science, history and innovation will converge. The creation of the Moogseum is pending adequate funding.

TEDxCardiff - Tara Busch - 04/14/10

YouTube via TEDxTalks — May 21, 2010 —

"It was great news that US artist Tara Busch did a special performance just for us. Tara is a music maker, producer and, in her own words, a gear pornographer. Her acclaimed blog about analogue synths has thousands of readers, and her recent album was very warmly received by critics and fans alike. You can find out more about her here, and heres what the press have said about the album:

Kate Bush for the modern age; ethereal, sinister but strangely sweet. The torch has been passed. More than just another new Kate Bush. NME

With her debut album, the California-based Busch invites us to enter her strange and wonderful universe: ethereal, morbid but also poetic its a sort of musical and feminine equivalent to the films of Tim Burton. The Independent

Pilfershire Lane is an epic experience from beginning to end, and one of the odder pop albums youll get to hear not just this year, but probably ever Artrocker

The album hums with vintage analogue sounds and contains some fine moments for fans of experimental music. ..quite addictive TUNERAKER.COM

Taras own remarkable vocal range have ensured one of the most interesting records in a long time. With her poetic lyrics and understanding of the craft of making music this is an album of special quality. SUBBA-CULTCHA

Zombies 1985 - A New Film by Tara Busch & Maf Lewis to Feature Synth Score by Tara & Benge

Many of you are likely familiar with Tara Busch & Benge, featured numerous times here on MATRIXSYNTH. It turns out Tara is a film maker as well as musician extraordinaire. She and Maf Lewis are currently seeking funding for their new film, Zombies 1985.   There's only 24 hours to go!  You'll find the campaign on Kickstarter here. The film will feature a live score composed by Benge & Tara. Brings back memories of John Carpenter who also composed the scores for his films on vintage analog synths. Definitely looking forward to this one.

Left: "Composers Tara Busch & Benge Edwards working together in the studio with John Foxx."

Below: Zombie Tara & Benge

Some details for the archives:

"A short film with live score set in 1985 about a self-obsessed man who fails to notice the Zombie Apocalypse happening around him.

OVERVIEW:

'Zombies 1985' is one in a series of short horror and science fiction films that are created to be performed with a live score. Here's an extract of a live performance for one of our previous films, "The Silence".

Zombies 1985" tells the story of greed and self obsession in 1980's Britain. The film will be created by the collective I Speak Machine, directed by Maf Lewis, score composed by Tara Busch and Benge Edwards, and featuring Lee Bane.

PLOT:
Steve is an upwardly mobile entrepreneur who believes he has come up with the next big thing - the next Rubik's Cube. 'It's going to be bigger than Betamax!'.

The film covers his journey home from a super successful day at the office where he's all but closed the biggest deal of his life. Just a couple of mobile phone calls on the way home and it's in the bag. However, as he races back to celebrate with his wife and kids, we witness his fall from apparent certain victory to increasing infuriation - everyone's suddenly stopped taking his calls. His anger and desperation boils over when he can't get anyone on the phone....not his secretary, his investors, or his wife. All the while, the Zombie Apocalypse is happening around him; he's just too self absorbed to notice it... until he gets home."

- INFO

“The Silent Earth (end credits)” is the first single from the upcoming BURG album "The Silent Earth."

When I started writing the new album in 2018, it slowly turned into an imaginary soundtrack that began telling the tales of a silent earth, long lost friends and family, and a planet scorched deeply by the chaos it has been subjected to.

The album is heavily influenced by early 70's and 80's sci-fi movies, from back in the day when the stories were slower and took longer time to tell because they were important to the director, and set the foundation and style of the genre.

One of the missing pieces when the album got close to completion was the last track, the one that plays at the end of the movie while the end credits are rolling, the track that gives the listener a slight feeling of hope from all the despair.

I paired up with I Speak Machine for a collaboration over at their Patreon, Tara Busch lending her unique voice and aesthetics to the title track. The final result is a blend of I Speak Machine and BURG in the best way imaginable, a dystopian tune with a small shimmer of hope.

I am releasing a vinyl single with “The Silent Earth (end credits)” as the A-side. The track on the B-side, “The Quiet Earth” is exclusive to the single. The single is limited to 200 copies only, and is a special long play 7" 33rpm blue colored vinyl.

The single is available for pre-order now, the first 50 at a special discounted price.

2009 Optigan Disc: MINIMALISM feat. Tara Busch!

YouTube via peahix
"Now available for pre-order at http://www.optigan.com/shoptigan

Here's a hot new sound for the 1970s, straight from New York City! Mesmerizing musical kaleidoscopes throb from East Village loft windows and trendy art gallery doors, where less is definitely more More MORE! And you can be right there on the scene with the new Optigan Minimalism
program disc!

Your left hand conducts a tight ensemble of organ, flute, saxophones and bass clarinet- pulsing bass on the special effect tabs, and whirling arpeggios on the chord buttons. Your right hand plays vocal solfege melodies, sung for you by none other than Tara Busch of AnalogSuicide.com!

So fill up your glass and take a deep, satisfying gulp from the sonic ocean of Minimalism!

Performance Notes:

The Optigan Minimalism program disc was arranged specifically to allow for a large variety of extended harmonies by pressing two or more chord buttons simultaneously. For instance, holding down C Maj and E Min will produce a C Maj7 chord. G Maj and D Min combined will produce a G9
chord. Also, since the basslines on the special effects tabs contain no thirds, they can be used equally well in major or minor keys. Let your own imagination be your guide, and make your own kind of music!

Music arrangement and production by Pea Hicks
Vocal solfege scale sung and recorded by Tara Busch
Disc creation software, disc production cover artwork and jacket layout by Robert Becker

The Beatles "Ticket To Ride" cover - a duet by I Speak Machine's Tara Busch and the ARP 2600

Published on Sep 17, 2014 Tara Busch

"Sneak Preview for our show at Southbanks Centre, Sunday September 21st!

Deep in the Welsh countryside, there stands The Screeching Barn (aptly named for the owls nearby) , where this was filmed! I've been working in this loft for the past 9 months, eerie, bizarre, isolated & quite lovely.

On September 21st, I Speak Machine - the film/music collective consisting of Tara Busch & Maf Lewis will be previewing 3 sci-fi horror short films at the Southbank Centre's Purcell Room - and possibly playing this little number as well!

Buy tickets here: http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/what...

The beautiful machine accompanying me here is the wonderful ARP 2600. I fell upon covering song this one day when I was getting my head around this glorious beast...and thought it would be quite romantic to do a "duet" with him. This, along with all the other gear I will be playing for this show was lent to me by Dave Spiers & Chris Macleod at G Force Software - gforcesoftware.com .

Hope to see you at the show...and perhaps you'll request this? x

Maximize Your Moogfest Experience

"GET THE MAXIMUM MOOG AT MOOGFEST 2010 HALLOWEEN WEEKEND – 10/29-10/31 IN ASHEVILLE, NC

Going to Moogfest 2010? Be sure to get the most out of your festival experience. You’ll enjoy the music even more if you take advantage of these unique opportunities to immerse yourself in the world of Moog:

PROJEK MOOG
Saturday, 6:00pm – 6:50pm at The Orange Peel

A stellar lineup of some of today’s most proficient multi-instrumentalists (including Moog Chief Engineer, Cyril Lance), Projek Moog has composed a specific piece of music for Moogfest, one that highlights the various instruments for which Moog Music is renowned. Joining the group will be Brian Kehew, a close friend of Bob Moog’s and best known for his work in the Moog Cookbook as well as being the historian for the Moog Foundation. If you want to see the many facets of Moog Music at work, this has to be on your must-see list.

The inspiration in creating this show was to feature new instruments and the artists whose valuable input helped perfect them. Both Brian Kehew and fellow Projek Moog musician Billy Cardine have been involved in helping create instruments that are truly inspirational. Brian has been associated with Moog for years and Billy recently helped with a brand new stringed instrument which will make its debut at Moogfest.

Having these great musicians involved in product development is emblematic of what Bob was all about and the legacy of Moog Music. Instruments are collaborative - they need to be intuitive and soulful. Brian and Billy's involvement have kept this spirit alive and Projek Moog is about celebrating that legacy.
