"Famous Musicians" FIlmstrip featuring Morton Subotnick

Go to mortonsubotnick.com, select the archive gallery and scroll to the bottom of the page.
In the next few months the Library of Congress will be transferring the entire show replete with the audio track to modern technology and I'm confident Mort will be adding it as a quicktime presentation. Until then, enjoy..."

"No MIDI, no sequencers, mono, no edits, small amount of VST delay on one sound, the rest us unprocessed. Modcan, Blacet, Synthesizers.com, STG Soundlabs, Manley"
Oakley Equinoxe Voltage Controlled Phaser
YouTube via attorks
"This is a short demonstration of the Oakley Equinoxe Voltage Controlled Phaser. The ramp waveforms of two Q106 VCO's are fed into a Q112 mixer which knobs are on 10. Output of the Q112 mixer is fed into the AUDIO IN of the Equinoxe. The AUDIO OUT of the Equinoxe goes into the Q108 VCA. Halfway the video the output of th YuSynth AC/DC mixer is plugged in. First the Equinoxe is modulated by the Q109 ADSR. Seond by a sine waveform from the 2nd VCO and a LFO. The knobs of the Equinoxe from top to bottom: FREQUENCY, EMPHASIS, MODULATION DEPTH, LFO RATE. Left busses from top to bottom: AUDIO IN, CV IN. Right busses from top to bottom: AUDIO OUT, LFO OUT."

Machinedrum and Kenton Pro-2000

"So, what I chose to do was simply sequence a few notes (patched from the "A" CV) and patched 4-6 of the Auxiliary CV outs to various other controls on the modular, like the filter cutoff, EG timebase, VCAs for LFOs and FM index. I was having a lot of fun, adding a step on the MD's sequencer and either manually setting a parameter lock, or just turning one of the knobs in real time, indirectly controlling the modular. It was a blast. The real fun came though when I remembered that you can set parameter locks in realtime record mode; just twist the knobs and your actions are recorded via param locks. I was know simply tweaking controls and they were automatically recorded. Sequencing filter cutoffs and FM indexes was extremely immediate and intuitive feeling. It was fantastic."
TZFM SAW VCO

"This looks somewhat promising. It's a SAW VCO with thru-zero FM. So far just a proof of principle. But quite simple and cost effective. None of that doo-dah with rectifying the CV, separately reversing the core direction, etc. Just modulate the core's input current back and forth and carefully process what comes out..."

"My new Elby Designs MIDI2SDS(X)
Excited anticpiation ends in frustration on arrival of new module.
argh why is it acting like this?"
Update via Muff in the comments:
"Laurie at Elby Designs AND Paul Maddox (the designer of the PCB) have both been VERY HELPFUL and GREAT to deal with.
It's confirmed that it's a bug with my unit. Laurie is shipping me a new microcontroller for it.
No foul here - been very impressed with how these guys handled it, great communication & great service. "

SPEAR

Something which closely resembles the original input sound (a resynthesis) can be generated by computing and adding all of the individual time varying sinusoidal waves together. In almost all cases the resynthesis will not be exactly identical to the original sound (although it is possible to get very close).
Aside from offering a very detailed analysis of the time varying frequency content of a sound, a sinusoidal model offers a great deal of flexibility for editing and manipulation. SPEAR supports flexible selection and immediate manipulation of analysis data, cut and paste, and unlimited undo/redo. Hundreds of simultaneous partials can be synthesized in real-time and documents may contain thousands of individual partials dispersed in time. SPEAR also supports a variety of standard file formats for the import and export of analysis data."

"Just toying around with the Blofeld:
Recordings are bare Blofeld, no external FX or processing.
Sounds with nice reverb:
