via the listing: "This unit was owned by Fleetwood Mac and used on the song Tusk to emulate the sound of an entire marching band. I purchased this unit in the mid 90's at a liquidation sale from the Fleetwood Mac road crew/managment team. I also bought a Roland Jupiter 8 from them. Google Christine McVie in Contemporary Keyboard Magazine and read about this unit. I will Include the anvil flight case with Fleetwood Mac logo shown in photos and also the hard to find power cord. The unit is in great shape and I have been burning it in for the past week and it is functioning well except for the programmer and Osc1 of the 4th SEM have some issues. It is still very playable and sounds wonderful. There is an external CV/Gate input on back on unit so you could integrate it in to a MIDI setup with a CV to MIDI convertor and play it from a MIDI keyboard or analog step sequencer..."

Buchla 100 meets a 259

Published on Dec 6, 2013 DJjondent·213 videos

"Playing around with a 259 clone.
The Buchla 100's vintage 123 sequencer is
sending CV to the 259's mod index, pitch & timbre inputs.
Tweaking the mod index & timbre knobs produces some interesting
results.

The audio outs of the 259 are fed into a vintage 111 ring modulator.
The square wave output of the 259 is fed into a 194 filter and then
through the 190 reverb.
The 130 envelope detector is receiving a sine wave from a 158.
The CV out of the 130 is being used to modulate the first channel of the 107 voltage controller mixer"

A Buchla 100 and 259 (Part II)

Published on Dec 8, 2013 DJjondent·214 videos

"Just a few more experiments with a 259 clone to test its range of sounds.
I really love this module. Incredible OMFG sounding. It makes me wonder what a original vintage one sounds like.???
This vid is totally unedited. Recorded live & in one take.

Anyway, the Buchla 100's three rows of the 123 sequencer is
sending CV to the 259

Top row of the 123 goes to pitch,
Middle row - mod index.
Bottom row to timbre input.

Using the 114 keyboard I can step through each stage to trial the different
sounds available.
Tweaking the 123 knobs produces some very interesting results.

(I didn't like this old video personally, but it's still might have use to someone to give a
further idea what's available esp when mod is set to sub audio).

"This patch is a development from the previous 259 patch.

The Buchla 100's 123 sequencer is not being used as a traditional
sequencer. In this experiment it's acting like a "preset manager"
Each of the 8 steps has its own CV & gate settings. It effect they are my 8 preset sounds for the 259.

Top row of the 123 goes to mod index.
Middle row - timbre input
Bottom row to harmonics.
The 180 attack generator is modulating a 291 filter (not visible in this video.)
And the white cord that i patch into the CV in of the modulation Osc comes from the
alternate pulse out of the 140 timing pulse generator.

The sequencer used is a J3RK Flip Flop.

Using the 114 keyboard I can step through each stage to trial the different
sounds available."

Nord Lead 4 4-Part Multi-Timbral Performance Synthesizer Review

Published on Dec 6, 2013 Full Compass ·936 videos

Nord Leads on eBay

http://www.fullcompass.com/product/446077.html

"With innovative performance features, advanced layering and synchronization possibilities, new filter types and on-board effects, the Nord Lead 4 is a synthesizer dream come true.

Nord Lead 4 is a 4-part multi-timbral synthesizer that sports a 2-oscillator virtual analog sound engine with 2x oversampling. In addition to the classic analog waveforms. there's a Wavetable mode with unique Formant Wavetables. Frequency Modulation and Hard/Soft sync options are available for mutilating your sound further and the True Voice Unison mode can stack up to four oscillators per voice for really thick, beefy leads and pads.

The filter section boasts Low Pass (12/24dB), High Pass, and Band Pass filters and also stunning new simulations of two transistor and diode ladder filters capturing the squeaky, dirty character of the originals. A dedicated filter overdrive can distort your sound before it passes through the effect section.

The Variation buttons let you override almost any parameter of the synthesizer, instantaneously. Ever wanted to change LFO speed, Modulation routings and reverb amount - all at once, in the middle of a sound? With the Nord Lead 4 you can. With 7 assignable variations per program Nord Lead 4 gives you creative freedom to warp and improvise your sound live, both rhythmically and sonically and thanks to the Master Clock Synchronization, it can be done in perfect sync to other layers or an external MIDI Clock.

All 4 slots have dedicated effect sections with delay, reverb, tube amp simulated overdrive, a Talk effect modeled after a vocal tract and a sample rate reducing Crush effect."

KRM Electronics MIDI-CV Converter Prototype Demo

Published on Nov 25, 2013 krmelectronics·10 videos

"This is a demo of my performace-oriented MIDI-CV converter. The unit shown is only a prototype. I'm planning on making a module based version, and also a small PCB suitable for retrofitting a mono-synth.

In the demo I'm using an Ensoniq SQ1 as a MIDI controller. It's not producing any sound. All of the sound comes from a Paia 9700 modular. I'm also using an Akai LPD8 to send MIDI button presses, and continuous controller messages.

My MIDI-CV converter takes the merged MIDI stream, and outputs 2 CVs and a gate to the Paia 9700.

All of the arpeggiator functions can be controlled in real time via MIDI:
- MIDI sync On/Off
- MIDI clock ratio (from whole notes, all the way to 32nd triplets)
- Speed (when not synced to MIDI)
- Gate time
- Latch On/Off
- Arpeggiator pattern (Up, Down, Up-Down, Down-Up, Repeat End Note, Random, User Defined)
- Arpeggiator octave span (1 to 5)"

Note: I created a KRM Electronics label with this post. I added the label to the other technical overview and repair videos by krmelectronics as well. Labels typically get created for new makers & manufacturers and may be applied to posts not featuring their products to give you more insight into their interests and background.

Site Tip: See the manufacturer channels at the bottom of posts for more. You can find the channel label drop down on the right of the site. Or if you know the channel you can click on any channel in a post and replace the channel with the one you want, for example: http://www.matrixsynth.com/search/label/KRM%20Electronics to http://www.matrixsynth.com/search/label/Moog.

Bach Two-Part Invention No. 1 - EMS Synthi - Moog Source

Uploaded on Jan 20, 2012 krmelectronics·10 videos

"Bach Two-Part Invention No. 1, played on an EMS Synthi and Moog Source. The audio was recorded directly to 1/4" tape (Revox PR99 at 15 IPS) and dubbed back into the video. The Synthi was played via a Yamaha MIDI controller, and a Paia 9700 MIDI-CV converter. The reverb is from an Alesis Midiverb II.

Since the Synthi expects 0.32 v/oct, but the Paia MIDI-CV converter output is 1 v/oct, I had to run the output of the Paia through a simple voltage divider circuit (not shown in the video) to convert it."
