Dave Smith Instruments Poly Evolver Keyboard: Brass Patch

Published on Jun 14, 2015 Sacred Synthesis

"The Poly Evolver Keyboard excels at producing immense brass patches. I'd say it's one of its strongest sounds. This lumbering improvisation uses one such example, and I intend others of this type to follow.

The dynamic changes are created with the modulation wheel, which opens the filter.

Instrumentation:
DSI Poly Evolver Keyboard
DSI Poly Evolver Rack

Reverb from Lexicon MX300

Performed live and record directly to CD."

Octave Voyetra 8 Analog Polyphonic Synth Module with VPK-5 Keyboard SN FJ4813

"Very rare Octave Plateau Voyetra 8 analog synthesizer, with the accompanying VPK-5 keyboard, with Version 4 boards. If you've been looking to add one to your studio, this is the one you want.

One of, if not the best polyphonic analog synthesizer out there. The V8 combines two CEM3340 oscillators (each with a sub-oscillator) and a SSM 2044 filter per voice with a huge amount of modulation abilities. The end result is a wonderful sounding synth that can easily go from subtle to HUGE. This particular unit is a green card rev. 4 machine, which is the final and most stable version of the Voyetra. It can accept MIDI sysex and can be controlled by external software and programmers.

Included is a VPK-5 controller keyboard. You can either use this controller or midi to control the Voyetra (but not at the same time).

Also included is the necessary XLR to MIDI cable, the operation manual, and other documentation. You are literally getting the "complete" package for the Voyetra.

Because this is a vintage piece of electronic equipment (and a sensitive one at that), there are some things to mention.

• The machine is currently fully calibrated, but trimmers inside the unit (for the voice card volumes and filters) may shift during shipping. If this happens, it's straight forward to re-calibrate them as long as you are able to turn a knob and use a tuner.

Rick Wakeman Oberheim OB-MX 8-Voice Rack Synthesizer

"This is an Oberheim OB-MX rack-mount synthesizer that was used by Rick Wakeman (as a 6-voice unit) during the recording of the Keys to Ascension album in 1995-1996. I obtained it from Rick's producer, who let Rick use it during the recording of the album.

An additional voice card was later added to make it a 8-voice unit. It can be expanded with 2 more voice cards to a full 12-voice system.

Excellent condition, includes operation manual. New battery, OS 1.04 (a later OS is available for free on-line, OS 2.00).

The Oberheim OBMx is a modern synthesizer module with an audio path that is entirely analog. It has an intuitive and powerful interface which makes it easy for anyone
to program their own unique sounds. The OBMx claims to deliver the classic Oberheim and Minimoog sounds while being completely programmable and midi compatible.

One historical point is that the OB-Mx is, at present, the last synthesizer designed by Don Buchla. The 'Oberheim filter' provides 12 dB/oct low, band or hi pass filtering, with resonance. And the 'Minimoog filter' uses a 24 dB/oct low-pass filter."

Vintage Pinball Synth Ad

This one in via electraumatisme, found on tumblr

The ad features a custom white Minimoog, Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 and a Roland Jupiter-6.  The ad appears to be for a pinball machine sound and graphics pack.  It reads:

"Rock Encore - Premier is Changing Their Tune!  Keep A Good Thing Going with Rock Encore!

The Premier Booster-Pack Is A Fifteen Minute Art & Sound Conversion Kit For Any Rock Pinball Game.

These New Sound Chips & Photographic Backglass Produce Prolonged Earnings At A Minimal Investment."

Below is a second, unrelated image also found by electraumatisme. Jupiter-6 and Polysix in that one.  It looks familiar but I can't place it.  If anyone has seen it before and/or has more info let us know!

Moog Satellite synthesizer

"The Satellite is a lot like the rare Farfisa Syntorchestra: It's a synthesizer that was originally designed to imitate popular band and orchestral instruments; it also makes cool and original synth tones. All sounds on the Satellite can be modified on the fly. The included registration guide (super-rare!) shows you how to accomplish all the sounds this synth was designed to make.

This Moog Satellite is in 100% tip-top working order. My tech went through it from top to bottom, giving it a thorough once-over. He cleaned and otherwise serviced all the keys and contacts. The Satellite was already working fine; now it's in as-new condition."

"Approx 83cm wide x 53 cm deep x 79cm high.

Clean unit in good working order with a couple of faults (see below).

Features include great Spring Reverb and Vibrato and Chord button (which activates 17 pre-programmed chords)

Comes with foot pedal and shelve underneath organ which is connected to back legs.

Line out and other connectivity are on underside of organ although it also has it's own loudspeaker on underside.

Nice soundtrack and psychedelic organ sounds.

GM754 has been used by the likes of Portishead and Clinic.

Really enjoyed using this fantastically warm and authentic sounding organ, I just need to make room for new equipment.

Known Faults:

two of the keys take a while to return once depressed. (the 3rd e, 3rd f)

2nd b makes no sound at all.

These could be simple contact/cleaning problems but I'm not sure.

Slider cap is missing from vibrato but does not affect function. (see pics).

On the right hand side some of the veneer is peeling slightly.(see pics).

Couple of other very small blemishes but overall really good cosmetically considering age.

Owner & service manual can be found here"

Leploop Analogue Synth Groovebox

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via auction

"The Leploop is an analogue groovebox like nothing else. This synth has 2 oscillators, one filter, one noise generator and one kick drum generator. The built in sequencer can trigger the 2 envelopes independently as well as the kick drum. This sequencer holds pitches in a capacitor bank which provides self-evolving melodies. Tons of step skipping options and weird timing options enable this to sound like nothing else."

"The Roland 100M is a stunning and totally uniquely fashioned modular system manufactured around the late 1970s. The 100M is consistently considered a top-tier must-have vintage modular synthesizer by a huge number of fans. This package includes 9 modules, a CV controller keyboard and lots of connection and patch cables. It also offers the facility to convert CV to midi messages via the Kenton Electronics PRO-2 dual channel MIDI to CV converter.

List of Modules and other devices:

M-112 dual VCO, with 3 CV ins, 2 outs, and weak/strong sync

2X, M-121 dual VCF, with low-pass and high-pass filters with 24 dB/oct slope

M-130 dual VCA, with a linear/exponential switch

M-131 Mixer, 4 X 2 X 1, with panning and a tuning oscillator (220/440/880Hz)

M-132 dual Mixer and Voltage Processor

M-140 dual Envelope (ADSR, invertible, and manual gate button) and LFO (5 waveforms with switchable range: x1, x1/10)

M-172 Phase Shifter, Audio Delay, LFO, Gate Delay

M-181 Keyboard, 49-note (C-C) same as M-180 but with added portamento switch and bender lever (with CV out)

M-182 Analog Sequencer, 2 X 8 step, serial or parallel modes

2X, M-191J five-module rack with multiple connectors on its base

Kenton Electronics PRO-2 dual channel MIDI to CV converter

Please note, The eight pin CV connector has a fault which means that only the pitch and not the gait works. However the individual gait from the control keyboard works."

SidTracker 64 Tutorial - real time recording

Published on Jun 14, 2015 SidTracker 64

"SidTracker64 is the ultimate chiptune production package tool for the iPad. It emulates the SID sound chip from the dominating home computer of the 80s - The Commodore 64.

Get started immediately with the bundled songs and sounds in various styles, from old skool bleeps n blips to new school with multi speed and advanced table editing. Explore, remix and make new songs based on the old classics c64 game tracks “Commando” by Rob Hubbard or “Blood Money” by Fredrik Segerfalk, and the brand new youtube remix hit of the “True Survivor” Kung Fury soundtrack, all included in the app.

SidTracker64 is a retro-style music creation tool and synthesizer combined with modern features such as midi keyboard and controller input, Audiobus 2 and Inter App Audio for recording in your favourite DAW-app. Midi clock in lets you sync to other apps and hardware drum machines and synthesizers, such as the Elektron Analog Four.

SidTracker 64 can be used for live looping, making complete songs, and the minimum latency makes it suitable for live use. Export your music to Dropbox and e-mail as audio or .sid and even .prg files which you can run on a real Commodore 64.

Editing is based on hands on touch interaction or midi input instead of the hardcore style of direct data editing. Record live to a metronome or input notes step-style. Real SID-composing has never been simpler and more fun!

Tangerine Dream - Le Parc (L.A. - Streethawk), performed live by Kebu @ Sthlm Italo Disco Party 2015

Published on Jun 14, 2015 Kebu

"Kebu's all-analog synth cover of Tangerine Dream's Le Parc (L.A. - Streethawk), performed live at the Sthlm Italo Disco Party 2015 at Nalen, Stockholm, 16.5.2015.

http://kebu.fi

Thanks to Heidi Väisänen, Tuulikki Väisänen, and Renaud Guérin for operating the cameras!

The song was performed using only analog synthesizers, either played live or sequenced. The performance was recorded directly from the mixer to a stereo track and later mixed together with the ambience from the room. A few mistakes have been cut out and replaced with the audio from a rehearsal take.

Equipment used in this song: Roland TR-808, JX8P, Juno 60, Alpha Juno 1&2; Korg Polysix, Poly 61, Mono/Poly, Moog Source, DSI Tetra, Jomox AirBase99, Touched-by-sound DRM1, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Marion Prosynth, Akai MPC2500 (only for MIDI sequencing), M-Audio Trigger Finger, Yamaha 01v96, Lexicon MPX500 & MPX550, as well as a midi patchbay and additional preamps for my mixer.

My debut album, 'To Jupiter and Back', and latest single 'Deep Blue' can be bought here: http://www.kebu.fi/"
