"The CS01 is the perfect mono synth for bubbly and growling bass! It features a very nice 24dB resonant voltage-controlled filter with adjustable slider control over resonance. In addition to the oscillators' sine and square type waveforms there is PWM and noise. There are also LFO controls, glissando (like portamento), a typical ADSR envelope generator, pitch & mod wheels and even a breath controller input."

Korg Minilogue Free Patch Bank Part 2 by Earmonkey - Intergalactic

Published on Sep 24, 2017 Earmonkey Music

"I'm putting together a free Minilogue Patch Bank (as soon as I figure out how to do that). Here is Part 2. I played each patch with no FX, then put on some Valhalla Reverb and Delay. The Minilogue delay is a little too noisy for my liking. But anyway, as soon as I have the whole video series completed and the Patch Bank ready for download, I'll update this description with a link. In the meanwhile, have fun listening to some of the stuff I've been trying to push the Minilogue into."

"The volume on the lower Sub 37 is turned down at first. Being synced to the upper, it tracks changes made to the upper panel, and so comes in at around 43 seconds with a touch on the upper volume control, as shown. 64 step sequence: two notes per step. There are two attempts at it in this one clip."

Corsynth Ports Their C101 OTA Lowpass Filter MKII to Eurorack with the C101E

Corsynth first introduced their 5U format C101 OTA Lowpass Filter MKII back in 2015. They have now ported it to eurorack format.

via Corsynth

"The C101E OTA Lowpass filter is a low pass filter based on four cascade OTA-stages. This OTA filter design can be found in many classic synthesizers like Roland Jupiter 8, Roland Juno 60, Roland System 100m, Roland SH-1, SH-7, SH-101, Roland System 700, Jen SX1000 and many more.

C101E main characteristics

Two filter outputs with 6db and 24db response
Voltage controlled resonance
Three modulation inputs ( one with an inverter )
Two audio inputs with a built in mixer
Gain compensation circuit for the 24db output. Better bass response and no more volume drop when you turn up the resonance.
Filter self oscillate and can be used as VCO ( 1V/Octave )
Temperature compensated
16hp"

You can find a ton of posts featuring the C101 here.

"This synth is incredibly huge sounding.. very much like a classic Oberheim SEM with so many ways to modulate and tweak tone. Its a great analog synth, very unique. It can obviously make some killer basses and leads but can also generate some wicked textures and drones. It all works as it should."

"As you can tell, this is a very specialized version of this classic drum machine. This 909 contains modifications (thanks to Colin Fraser) to the kick as well as the high-hats, to give you far more flexibility that what is traditionally offered by a typical 909. The mods to the kick are the group of three rotary controls above low/mid Tom controls. As you can see, the same rotary knobs that were on the original were used on the mods. Mods to kick add three new controls:

- Pitch: controls the frequency of the bass drum oscillator
- Drive: allows waveform adjustment from normal to square, for hard clipped sounds
- Tune Depth: varies the amount of the initial pitch sweep (decay is set by TUNE control)

These mods literally give the 909 the ability to produce any kind of kick imaginable, from overdriven, to deep, pulsating kicks. I've posted 5 minutes worth of nothing but these modified kicks on Youtube - this is just the tip of the iceberg. You could literally tinker with variations to the kicks for days.

https://youtu.be/SqpnQhg_U14

The hi-hats mod gives a tune control for the hi-hats that functions the same way as the tune controls for the crash and ride cymbals. This adds a lot of depth and flexibility. Youtube video with sounds of the Hi-Hat mods can be found here:

More details on the mods can be found here"

New Minimoog D and 3 Oberheim Filters (SEM Pro, Semblance and Telemark - K)

Published on Sep 24, 2017 martinjazz78

"Autumn melancholy is here ....at least in my improvised dawless, analogue and semi-modular synths track. Recorded live in one take, everything happening on the fly while playing, stereo output from my Motu interface only.

Gear used:
SEM Pro by Tom Oberheim (modern reissue)
Minimoog Model D (modern reissue)
Elements Synthesizer by Ken Macbeth
Taurus III Bass Pedals by Moog
Semblance by Analogue Solutions
Telemark-K by Analogue Solutions
Cirklon by Sequentix (hardware sequencer)
Roland Space Echo (vintage tape one)
Strymon Big Sky

There are four sequences running, each up to 16 steps with various random parameters, all of them are controlled by Cirklon hardware sequencer via midi:
1. Taurus III Bass Pedals
2. Semblance
3. Telemark-K
4. SEM Pro by Tom Oberheim. The sequence on Oberheim can be also understood as lead over the three remaining sequences.

Then there are random sounds that are self-generated by the Elements Synthesizer by Ken Macbeth and lead solo improvised on the new Minimoog Model D.

Although we have 3 Oberheim type filters in the video, I have to say that the ones on Analogue Solutions gear do sound and do behave differently than the one on SEM Pro. Probably no surprise, we are in analogue realm, where nothing is identical. As well, I believe I've somewhere seen an interview with Jonh Carpenter from Analogue Solutions, where he was saying that it wasn't his intention to copy SEM that his filter, oscillators etc. are purposely different.

For maximum enjoyment, I recommend good headphones or even better good speakers with subwoofer. Dive well into melancholy of autumn 2017 ;)"
