Sequential Take 5 - will it Blade Runner? YES

video upload by peterkeys88

"Let's make a patch, using the Sequential Take 5 synth, inspired by my favorite big weeping Blade Runner-esque pads (real, or imagined...including 2049). I was part of the beta-testing and patch design team for Sequential's Take 5 - The Take 5 is an incredibly powerful yet compact synth that's got it where it counts.

If you have a Prophet Rev2, I've made a preset pack focused on these kinds of big wide epic pads, called Mammoth Pads, available at https://www.peterdyer.net/shop

*This is a beta Take 5 unit, so a couple buttons on the panel changed orientation on the final release."

MODX Tape Loop simulation - patch walkthru

video upload by Russ Hoffman

"In this video (shot poorly with a handheld iPhone be warned!), I walk through how to create a patch on the Yamaha MODX synth that emulates a four-track variable speed tape loop player, using your own audio loop files. The John Melas 'Montage Waveform Editor' is used to make this a bit easier."

Yamaha YC Stage Keyboard - Live Event for Kraft Music

video upload by Kraft Music

"Find exclusive Yamaha YC BUNDLES at Kraft Music: https://www.kraftmusic.com/brands/yam...

Blake Angelos from Yamaha Shares a livestream with Kraft Music to showcase the Yamaha YC Series Stage Keyboards.

Yamaha YC organ-focused stage keyboards give gigging keyboardists iconic and expressive touch, tone, and real-time control in a modern instrument. Yamaha's VCM organ engine provides classic tonewheel organ character by modeling individual components right down to the transistors and resistors, while physical drawbars, a waterfall keyboard, and intuitive controls allow for more jamming with less programming. With a four-zone master keyboard mode, nine effects processors, onboard acoustic and electro-mechanical pianos, DX-derived FM synth and electric piano sounds, strings, brass, and more, YC keyboards can be the perfect top keyboard for any rig – or the entire rig!

YC61 features 61 semi-weighted "waterfall" keys for organ-focused players, YC73 has 73 weighted and balanced keys for keyboardists, and YC88 uses an 88-key weighted triple-sensor action with synthetic ebony and ivory keytops for pianists.

Get more for your money with an exclusive Yamaha YC stage keyboard and organ bundle from Kraft Music. These package deals include the accessories you'll need to get the most out of your new performance keyboard, all for one low price. If you have any questions, please contact us. Our knowledgeable sales advisors will be happy to assist in choosing the bundle that's right for you!"

Korg M3R - The M1's super little brother

video upload by Espen Kraft

"The Korg M3R. The little brother module of M1, both from the late 80s and classic synthesizers from the era with some iconic sounds like THE house piano, bass and organ.

The demo song was a challenge as the drums inside the M3R are very crisp and not very dense low end. I had to layer, process, eq and compress to make the kick beefy enough and a combination of that kick and some snares makes out the final snare in the track. Again, layered, eq'ed and compressed.
The pads in the verses are made by multi tracking several pads and detuning them track by track. Just good old fashioned mixing.
The vocals are from a vocal sample download I bought many years ago and after all these years they finally came to life. The vocals are heavily pitched, stretched and manipulated to sound they way they do.
The demo song has loads of Valhalla VintageVerb on it, but the patch examples in the last part of the video uses only effects from the M3R, no external effects at all on these."

"Aurora" - Yamaha EX5 ambient improv

video upload by Floyd Steinberg

"I've updated my EX5 soundset which you can download for free at https://gumroad.com/floydsteinberg . This an ambient track using some of the new sounds. The pad is called "Aurora", the strange whale noises are an FDSP patch named "FM scream". The idea here is there are pitch-envelope-controlled modulators on the carrier, which results in these LFO-on-filter-like modulations. Pressing on the aftertouch keyboard will intensify the effect. If you're an EX5 user, just download the patches. :)"

VIRTUAL NOVATION A-STATION PROGRAMMER

via Virtual PG's Synth Programmers and Software on Reverb (you can find other synth editors there as well - can also be bought direct via jbrey21@yahoo.com)

"This software is a virtual Novation A-Station programmer for use with the Novation A-Station rack mount synth module. It simulates a hardware programmer in a software environment within the APPLE LOGIC audio / sequencer program (formerly Emagic LOGIC). To use this software you MUST have a valid copy of LOGIC on your computer (see below) as well as a MIDI interface which connects your computer via MIDI cable to your hardware synthesizer. This software CANNOT be used as a stand alone application under any circumstances. It will not run in Reason, Ableton, AU, VST or any other plug-in format. It was created and is presented through use of the LOGIC “environment” architecture.

Upon purchase, you will ultimately receive a ZIP archive of the editor you purchased for Logic. UNZIP this archive and you will have a choice of LOGIC song documents (v9 > vX) you can now open in the Logic program (please send special request for versions pre-v9 or PC if you require them). Once open, you will see the editor on your screen and you can then discover the pleasures of a virtual A-Station programmer for your synth. Your screen should look like the picture above once you open the document and view the main page."

In Every Leap (ambient tape loop jam)

video upload by poorness studios

"I got this 7-second tape loop from The Void Electronics. I made me think of an ambient pad, so I built this quick jam around the loop. I used my Eurorack modular synthesizer along with the Tele Blender from Error Instruments (normally thought of as a glitch instrument). Alchemy provides the soft synth sounds, and my Sony TCM-200DV is used to play the loop."

The First Modern Drum Machine | Eko Computerhythm

video upload by HAINBACH

"The Eko Computerhythm from 1972 was so ahead of its time that it found almost more fame as a prop in Italian Sci-Fi movies than as an instrument. In a time when a drum machine was all corny preset rhythms, the Eko featured 16 step programming, time division, mixing, individual outs and a punch card memory. Only 15 are known to exist today and it is frequently rated as one of the rarest and most expensive drum machine.

In this video you will find information on its history, its makers and hear it in all its glory.
