Cre8Audio - Chipz dual VCO

video upload by John Schussler

"This is a general overview of the Cre8Audio Chipz.

It's a lo-fi VCO inspired by early video game sound generators. But that sortof undersells's got lots of character baked in.

Each voice is independent. The first has a filter, the second a "duty cycle" control (aka PWM for a square wave, but in this case for more than just that).

The LFO can be reset, which is great for synching modulation to a clock (sadly I didn't get around to demoing that here).

Nothing else here but the Chipz and a little reverb at the end. Envelope by Zadar. Sequence by Stochastic IG.

Alesis Microverb Preset Demo Jam

video upload by Runningonair

"Alesis Microverb Preset Demo Jam

In this video I'll run through the Microverb presets with a little help from the Korg Monolouge, Volka beats and Yamaha CBX-T3.

This was the main (only) reverb unit in my setup for years. I got rid of it, along with all my other hardware back in the 2000s but recently I saw one going cheap, so thought I'd get it back. I decided to do this video just to showcase the unit, which is still quite usable as a bit retro digital if nothing else.

It has quite a dark feel overall, I suspect that's the 10Khz frequency range although the 16bit processing should be enough for most standard applications."

Exploring what I can get going in this tiny Eurorack case.

This was also a great opportunity to better learn how to use the ALM Pam's New workout module, which is doing most of the heavy lifting on sequencing duties for these patches.

"Amazing analogue string machine Logan/Hohner "String Melody II" by Ing. Giuliano Costantini. Just completely reviewed, perfectly working, in very good conditions despite the 45 years of age.

Tt was sold under both the Logan brand name and re-badged as both a Hohner and Vox product. The Vox version was called The String Thing but still featured the Logan brand name on the back of the case."

#Jamuary2022 | Day 15 | 23:56:04

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Today is about two things: 1) how can use and sync very long samples (e.g. a stem) to a clock in BitBox and 2) what's a day anyway. In the very long sample, Mike Degrasse Tyson explains how long a 24 hour day really is."

Roland JX-08 SEQUENCING (You're Allowed to Dance!)

video upload by Alba Ecstasy

"Roland JU-06A, JP-08, JX-03, SH-01A, SE-02 #ambient patches ūüĎČ

I was jamming with the Roland JX-08 on this beautiful and sunny - but cold - morning of Saturday, with two modified factory presets, testing the #sequencer, and it sounded too good not to recording it and share it with you!

This recording starts with PART B - a bass sequence that has a mono delay (dly1) on it.
PART A starts two minutes later, having a stereo delay (dly2) and the reverb (hall2) as effects.
No external effects were involved.

I recorded this session via USB Audio, on all the available audio channels that the Roland JX-08 comes with: the master - that includes the two Parts and the reverb also in one stereo channel, and I also kept each individual stereo channel of the two parts - that only have the delay as effect, resulting the original master output of the Roland JX-08, but backed by the individual channels!

Even my first choice was the Roland JD-08, since I always wanted a full size Roland JD-800, as I was waiting for my order to be delivered (about 14 weeks starting in November 2021!), I changed my mind and found this beauty on stock, locally (thanks Jutas!)!
I had a Roland JX-8P on my hands, a few years ago, and maybe it was a (bad) repaired unit, since the sound was really unattractive (had some knob and functions replacements on the panel), and that kind of made me to be reserved with the JX-08.
...Until I played my friend's Roland JX-8P, a near mint unit, and that's was all: the sweetness and warm of the sound made me want to have such a synth in my studio (but I'm not gonna pay the crazy prices from the SH market!).

Maybe the sound of the #RolandJX08 is not the same with the original, but I really don't care: the extras that are packed in it, makes the JX-08 perfect for my studio!
Arpeggiators, sequencers, a bunch of great effects, dual and split playing, 3 types of filters and so on!

Oh, and yes: my next move is the Roland JD-08! Definitely!
