"We’ll Never Be The Same" - Halftime Bass Music

video upload by Electronisounds Audio

"This track came about from the 'Hardware Jams' Facebook group's weekly challenge which was:

This week we're all going to all do sets at an EMOM, usually 15 mins sets, but we only want your first 5 minutes of a set! However.....the man who was going to take you and your entire studio just called to say the van has broken down! Therefore you are only allowed to use what you can physically carry!

So I figure I could put these few items into a duffle bag and still make it! Hahaha :)

Whatever kind of music you are making - KEEP IT UP, Friends!
Don't stop making *YOUR MUSIC*!!"

Discovering the Roland SH1000: Pros, Cons & Famous Users - Dry

video upload by Andy Whitmore

"In this video, we are going to get into the fascinating world of the legendary Roland SH1000 synthesizer. Join us as we explore its extraordinary features, uncover the pros and cons, and even discover some famous users who have embraced this iconic instrument.
Throughout our exploration, we will also shed light on the concept of the SH1000’s 2 Low Frequency Oscillators (LFOs) and how they contribute to the unique sound of the SH1000.
Whether you're a seasoned musician or simply intrigued by the world of synthesizers, this video is sure to provide valuable insights and knowledge.
So, if you're ready to learn more about the history, functionality, and impact of the Roland SH1000, hit that play button and prepare to be amazed! Don't forget to like and share this video with your fellow music enthusiasts. Let's celebrate the brilliance of this timeless synthesizer together.

The SH-1000, introduced in 1973, was the first instrument produced by Roland, and probably one of the first compact affordable keyboard synthesizers in all of Japan. It was designed to complement a home organ. Above its keyboard is a wooden sheet music stand. Organ-style coloured preset selector tabs are located below the keyboard. All the extra parameter controls are located to the left of the keyboard.
The SH-1000 is a monophonic analog synth with a single oscillator feeding a lowpass filter, an ADSR envelope, and two LFOs. It features 10 Preset sounds, but they are pretty weak. Fortunately you can create your own sounds for some really great mono-synth bass, lead, percussion and FX sounds. Basic square, ramp and pulse-width waveforms are available from the oscillator and the LFOs have sine, square and sample+hold. It has a terrific ‘Growl’ and ‘Wow’ effect for a pretty scary analog sound. It also features white noise, pink noise, portamento, octave transposition and a Random Note Generator. Although there is no user memory, unique sounds can still be quickly recreated or discovered thanks to its simple interface.
It’s a dinosaur! But it’s also a classic piece of Roland history. It has been used by Vangelis, Human League, Blondie, The Band, and Jethro Tull. A little later in 1973 the SH2000 was released with more Preset sounds (up to 30) but far less flexibility, controls and features. This may have been because the SH-1000 was a little confusing to its target demographic at the time. But today’s synthesists will love the unique sound and nostalgia of Japan’s first compact synthesizer!

The audio is DIRECT, 100% DRY, & IN STEREO - You are hearing the raw audio as it comes directly from the synthesizer. NO post processing (Effects, EQ, or Dynamics) whatsoever.

This is the second demo of soundpack 'MOVIE SCORE' with 128 (!!!) patches I have designed for the Alesis Andromeda.

All sounds are from the Andromeda. No other synths were used. No compressors, no limiters, no equalizers, no plugins.

All in all there are 128 (!!!) ambient and chillout patches in the package with smoking pads, grainy strings, organic drones, landscapes and deep textures.

I designed all the sounds myself.

If you´re interested in this soundpack, please send me an email (xu.sounddesign@gmx.net). Please check your spam-folder."

Tanzbar 2 Vibes

video upload by Cave Way

"Dusted off the TB2 recently and unfortunately it's developed a new feature where random lights are on all the time..... Each time I reboot some other light will develop this feature. It makes using the onboard sequencer extremely difficult as the lights serve a much needed purpose :(

Fortunately it still sounds great. Captured this groovy vamp and thought I'd through it on the Tubes."

Fragmented by Parallel Worlds (DiN83) Demo Mix

A new release by Parallel Worlds is coming February 16th. Details follow.

Parallel Worlds Fragmented DiN83 Release date 16th February 2024 Limited to 200 copies Digipak CD Bar Code CD 5028423240839

Greek synthesist Bakis Sirros who records under the name of Parallel Worlds has become a familiar name to followers of the DiN label. His debut release was “Obsessive Surrealism” (DiN26) back in 2007 and since then he has released two further solo albums, “Shade” (DiN32) and “Plector” (DiN76), as well as several collaborative albums with different artists including DiN label boss Ian Boddy & Node guru Dave Bessell.

This fourth sonic journey from Sirros on the DiN imprint sees him focusing in on his modular synthesiser systems, especially the Eurorack format with some able support from Buchla. These massive constructed patches live and breath like a crepuscular organism waking from its slumber. Indeed “Fragmented” is bookended by two wonderfully deep, textural tracks appropriately titled “Dawning” and “Sunset”. With the exception of the organ-like drone soundscape of “Time Flow” the remaining seven tracks encapsulate everything we have come to expect from this unique artist, namely dark, menacing bass lines overlaid with glitchy percussive patterns and beguiling, floating melody lines. It has certainly be noted before, but is worth reiterating, that there is a certain John Carpenter like soundtrack quality to the music of Sirros. Seemingly simplistic they shroud a wealth of detail and beauty that is revealed over repeated listening.

Lovers of Electronica, Dark Techno, Downtempo & IDM will find much to admire in “Fragmented” and this new album once again showcases the unique talent of this highly individual musician.

Bill Wolfer-The Man Behind MJ’s “Billie Jean” CS-80

video upload by Anthony Marinelli Music

"Bill Wolfer has referred to himself as "the least famous musician that everyone has heard play". He was a rising star in 80's Soul Music working with Stevie Wonder, Shalamar, Vanity, Dynasty and was responsible for programming and performing the iconic CS-80 synthesizer chord riff on Michael Jackson's biggest song 'Billie Jean'. Michael remembered a CS-80 sound he heard Bill play while they were on tour together and the rest is history.

This video provides a rare behind the scenes look at Michael Jackson's creative process while composing "Billy Jean" all the way through a detailed account of the final recording session at Westlake Studios. We discuss what it was like to work closely with producer Quincy Jones, engineer Bruce Swedien and of course Michael.

Bill was a trusted friend of Michael, someone that he could rely upon to develop his 3 original songs for the Thriller album - 'Billy Jean'. 'Beat" It', and 'Wanna Be Startin' Somethin’. Bill helped Michael feel comfortable working out musical ideas and played an important role getting Michael's original songs ready for the album.

He also put together a truly great unlikely hit solo album in the vein of Quincy Jones' The Dude. The lineup of musicians include mega-stars Stevie Wonder (harmonica solo), Michael Jackson (backing vocals on two cuts), Finis Henderson (vocals) and Gospel star Jon Gibson."

"I don't know much about the MIDI interface except that it receives note information on Channel #12 and either mod wheel (#0) or controller #1 (I forgot) controls filter cutoff. There may be other functions discoverable through similar trial and error, but it's a mystery so can't promise. See back panel pic (#2) for MIDI in and out jacks.

I suspect it's a modern (2000's era) interface because the note timing is very good.. 80s retrofits sometimes had slow CPUs and this is most certainly not a problem here, you'll be able to get immediate response and tight rhythms."
