Bananalogue Arp 4075 VCF Frac (PAIA, blacet, wiard)

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction

"What is the Bananalogue LPFA 4075 Junior? It is an analog low pass filter for use in the Frac rack system of modular synthesizers. The design is based on the original Arp 4075 filter submodule. The 4075 was the building block of many Arp electronic music instruments such as the Odyssey, Axxe, Omni and Avatar.

About the Module

The filter has a very smooth and musical quality. It was originally designed by Arp in response to the threatened Moog lawsuit, so as you can imagine it has its own unique character. The LPFA has a 1v/oct input so it can track decently over several octaves for use as a utility sine wave oscillator when self resonating. Please note the module uses 5v signal levels, a simple 2x opamp daughter card can be added to the module for 10v signal if needed.

The front panel of the module is made of aircraft aluminum, laser engraved. The faceplates and PCB are manufactured in the USA. The module is designed to integrate fully into a Frac Rack system modular synthesizer system. The Frac Rack aka Fractional Rack aka FracRak is a system popularized and supported by PAIA, Blacet, Wiard, MOTM, Metal Box and Bananalogue. This module was redesigned as a half width, 1.5" wide - perfect for small systems, or to maximize bang for buck in your rack.

The auction includes a power cable and two mounting screws. Shipping is via USPS priority medium flat rate box.

Please see a quick demo video of the filter below (demo video is the same module but in MOTM format)"

Bananalogue LPFA on Kickstarter

via Works, Ltd on Kickstarter where you can support the project for as little as $1. $50 gets you a pcb and instructions. $325 or more gets you a custom built LPFA. Click through for additional details. For the archives:

"Works, Ltd. is a small manufactory located in Austin, TX. We are dedicated to the small scale production of high quality goods. We have been building synthesizers under the "Bananalogue" name for 10 years."

"What is the Bananalogue LPFA? It is an analog low pass filter for use in the Frac rack system of modular synthesizers. The design is based on the original Arp 4075 filter submodule. The 4075 was the building block of many Arp electronic music instruments such as the Odyssey III, Axxe, Omni and Avatar.

About the PCB

The PCB for this module was designed by Rob Keeble of the Emulator Archive. The PCB is very high quality with blue solder mask, double sided layout with through hole plating. The PCB is manufactured in the USA.

The board uses 15V and the dimensions were designed to fit within the Frac rack system, but could be adapted for use into any of the other 15V synthesizer systems such as MOTM, dotcom, Modcan etc etc. Pledges for the bare PCB will also include a 9 page .pdf construction manual.

About the Module
The filter has a very smooth and musical quality. It was originally designed by Arp in response to the threatened Moog lawsuit, so as you can imagine it has its own unique character.

The LPFA is thermally compensated on the 1v/oct input so it can track decently over several octaves for use as a sine wave oscillator. The module also has three attenuated inputs for use as a utility mixer if the cutoff is thrown fully open.

The front panel of the module is made of aircraft aluminum, laser engraved with yellow paint filled legends. The faceplates are manufactured in the USA. The module is designed to integrate fully into a Frac Rack system modular synthesizer system. The Frac Rack aka Fractional Rack aka FracRak is a system popularized and supported by PAIA, Blacet, Wiard, MOTM, Metal Box and Bananalogue. There are a wealth of interesting modules available at a good value in this format and we hope the successful funding of this project will allow us to continue supporting this format and the SDIY community.

The cost of parts and metal has sky rocketed over the last few years since we last undertook the manufacturing of the LPFA module. In turn this has prohibitively raised the start up cost for producing a module of this quality. The purpose of this project is to provide the module to the niche market that can utilize it, while simultaneously defraying the initial production costs. We hope you will enjoy your module!"

4ms VCA Matrix eurorack module

YouTube Uploaded by bigcitymusic on Jun 21, 2011
Big City Music on eBay (RSS)
"Here we are trying out the brand new 4ms VCA Matrix module. This module can do you so many things its hard to know where to start!

This patch is a fairly basic voltage router. Various LFO's, slow, fast, and pitch-tracking are coming in on the left, the row labeled inputs, A B C D. The outputs, 1 2 3 4, are routed to different CV inputs on modules in our sequencer patch.

Output 1 goes to a filter cutoff, output 2 to delay time, output 3 to an oscillator pitch input, and output 4 to another filter's cutoff. Then you can "play" your different routings! Slot 1C has a slow, squarewave LFO applied to it's control input, and you can see the light flash when the square goes high.

This is only one example of what the MatrixVCA can do. You could use it as a patch storage/recall device enabling you to make modular presets. You could send fixed voltages into the inputs, creating playable sequences, The MatrixVCA also passes audio like a normal VCA. This can allow you to make some really complex patches. Kinda' like a guitar pedalboard on steroids;) This is just the beginning.... This module is amazing!"

Cwejman RES-4 demo

Cwejman RES-4 demo from hpsounds on Vimeo.

"Here is a short demo of the Cwejman RES-4 Quad VC Resonators module.

This patch involve 3 intermodulating oscillators (Wiard Oscillator in LFO mode, Wiard Anti-Oscillator as a modulator, Tiptop Audio Z3000 as a modulator), which are filtered by a Wiard Boogie filter, itself modulated by the Wiard Oscilator.

12 dB/oct output of the Boogie filter is connected to the Cwejman RES-4. The tip was to modulate two bands of the RES-4 by an envelope (Wiard Envelator), which is trigged by a pulse rhythm created with the Intellijel uStep (clock signal is provided by the End output of a Bananalogue Serge VCS).

EFX processing through a nice Eventide Eclipse patch ;-) which give a Steve ROACH's like sound IMO."

BOMBsessions: Xeno & Oaklander

BOMBsessions: Xeno & Oaklander from BOMB Magazine on Vimeo.

"BOMBsessions: Xeno & Oaklander

By Clinton Krute

The music of the Brooklyn-based group Xeno & Oaklander seems to come from an earlier time, when the beeps and whirs of the analog synthesizer began to creep up from the underground into the mainstream of pop music (or drag it down to the depths, if you prefer). The late ’70s and early ’80s synth music from which their work draws was a reaction to the sense of the alienation brought about by living in world that was becoming more and more digital. Sean McBride and Liz Wendlbo, the duo behind the project, still find these sounds relevant today, in both theme and means. Xeno & Oaklander excavate a forgotten music, re-imagining its forms for the present with a defiant and romantic nostalgia. Their debut album Sentinelle, out now on Wierd records, is a testament to their skill at “shaping electricity” and is overflowing with icy drones, oscillating tones, and excellent (and danceable) songwriting.

After an epic performance of “Preuss” (a title taken from the particularly noisy auto body shop adjacent to their studio), McBride and Wendelbo sat down with BOMBsessions in their Williamsburg “synth museum,” to discuss the poetics of their songwriting, the relation of their vocal lines to Derrida’s Glas, and moving contemporary music forward by digging into the past. Catch Xeno & Oaklander on March 5th at the Cameo in Brooklyn before they leave for a European tour.
