"I originally bought a Sony HR-MP5 multi-effect processor when it came out in the '90s. It broke irreparably in the early 2000s, and I've missed it since. Recently I had the opportunity to buy an HR-MP5 and HR-GP5 (the version for guitar) together as a combo deal, and was taken back in time by listening to the mesmerizing sound of the HR-MP5. Here are a few examples of the great FX of this small but cool machine."

100% Beaterator - Royalty Free Electronica - Week 4
Published on Jul 5, 2013 ChrisLody·60 videos
"Right, so here's the idea. Trying to write, upload and give away a fresh piece of music on a roughly weekly basis. Will i be able to keep it up? Will i run out of ideas? Can i be bothered? How shoddy will they be? Does anybody care? God knows. But that's the point.
Basically the idea is to flex my musical muscles a bit. I have collected quite a bit of gear over the years and not much of it is getting used as much as i'd like, so this is my attempt to justify all those purchases whilst practising improving and getting ideas down fast as an antidote to procrastination. "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working." as Picasso once said.
This track was created with Beaterator for PSP and Playstation Vita. Its new to me and was a ton of fun. I might do a little review video of it at some point as it seems to have gone largely ignored.
Royalty free for you to use for whatever under the creative commons license. Just rip the audio out of the video for now, i'll get these tracks uploaded to a dropbox account when i get my act together. Let me know if you use it, i'd be stoked."

Walkman Sample and Hold
Published on Nov 4, 2012 by chisel316
"In this demo, I use a Walkman as the source for the Doepfer A-148 Sample and Hold module. The output is sent into the 1v/Oct CV input of the Kraftzwerg Triple Oscillator. Notice the subtlety of the random notes compared to using white noise. Hope you enjoy it!"

Midi / Error!! Alternate MIDI Max/MSP Controllers
Midi / Error!! /// phulebox2012 \\\ Multi-Effects Unit - playstation controller + MaxMSP
YouTube Uploaded by midierror on Mar 22, 2010
"This is my final year uni project from a few years back. Its a software multi-effects unit I built in MaxMSP. It is controlled using a playstation controller, and is designed to be used while DJing. That said, it can be used with any input device such as a guitar, mic, drum machine, commodore 64, or minidisc player.
It has had changes made to make the screen more functional and user friendly. The 'engine' routing matrix is now hidden and all its settings can be changed using the directions.
Each of the effects can be fed through one another, or used singularly. The analog sticks control four parameters that can be locked to store placement.
At the time this was amazingly difficult to program, and the front end was a full screen. Its looking swish in MaxMSP5 !"
MIDI / error !! /// Xitar \\\ Xbox 360 Rock Band Guitar as Midi Controller
Uploaded by midierror on Jul 7, 2010
"Pronounced "Zitar" this is a Xbox 360 wireless controller sending messages to a hardware synth.
The tune on the intro is: Autologue - Last (Midi/error!! jungle mutation)"
Midi / Error !! /// Walyx \\\ Wacom Tablet + Max MSP - Controls Amen Break pitch and loop points
Uploaded by midierror on Mar 24, 2010
"This is an illustration of what can be done with a wacom graphics tablet and max msp. Using a max external it picks up the x y axis of the pen and converts it to the pitch (x-axis) and loop end (y-axis). It took about 2 minutes to make this patch. . . . .
The tablet has 3 buttons for on/off states and features pressure sensitivity......therefore a total of 9 parameters can be changed using it. Im going to dig a bit deeper with this idea, and see what I can make; particularly in terms of synth playback."
Midi / Error !! /// X-bovst \\\ Xbox Midi Controller for FM VST using Max MSP
Uploaded by midierror on Mar 23, 2010
"I wrote this patch for MaxMSP to control the amazing YMVST synth. As you can hear its a great little vst; based on the old YM2149 chips.....you can get it from here:
http://www.preromanbritain.com/ymvst/
Im not too happy with the way this worked out as its controlled mainly by buttons......but im sure someone might appreciate this.
I have also written a patch to control an Astation synth using a Playstation controller......but that is currently getting an overhaul.
respect to gareth morris for a wicked peice o kit !"

Sony to Discontinue Floppy Disks
This one was sent in on April 26 via Zero. I didn't opt to post at the time as floppies are still manufactured by other companies, but as Zero said, this does mark the beginning of an end. The previous post on the Emulator II disks below, reminded me of this.

Beaterator for the PSP
"Rockstar Games Announces
Release Dates for Beaterator on the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and PlayStation®Network
New York, NY – August 13, 2009 - Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce a September 29 and October 2, 2009 release date in North America and Europe, respectively, for Beaterator, presented by Rockstar Games and Timbaland. Developed by Rockstar Leeds, the studio behind Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Beaterator will be available for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and PlayStation®Network.
“Beaterator is a very natural progression for us,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “Music is incredibly important to us here at Rockstar, and we believe that there are many people out there who share that passion and will be excited about creating music of their own.”
“I’ve worked closely with Rockstar Games to make something completely unique,” said Timbaland. “Beaterator is like taking my music studio and turning it into a suite of tools anyone can use. We can’t wait to hear the beats people make and share with the world.”
Initially created in 2005 as a Flash application on the Rockstar website, Beaterator quickly took on a life of its own. Featuring thousands of loops and sounds made by both Timbaland and Rockstar, Beaterator puts the power to make professional-level music at your fingertips in a format that’s portable, accessible and fun – anyone can now create great-sounding music.
