NEW DIVKID MODULE // 'RND STEP' with Steady State Fate // 6 High performance Sample & Holds!

DivKidVideo

"Here we have the new (third) DivKid Eurorack module made in collaboration with Steady State Fate. RND STEP is 6 high performance analogue sample and holds split across 3 channels in 4HP. There's 6 analogue pink noise generators, unipolar and bipolar outputs, high accuracy sampling, long hold time, trigger normalisation for lots of stepped modulation from single triggers, audio rate performance for downsampling and modulated noise tones. I'll leave the video to do the talking and as always I hope the video provides you with lots of ideas to apply to your own systems too.

Steady State Fate SSF Zero Point Oscillator ZPO // unique thru zero FM & AM + morphing and more!

Published on Dec 23, 2019 DivKidVideo

"Here we have the wonderful ZPO from SSF. It has a totally unique take on "thru zero" modulation that couples the frequency modulation with amplitude modulation. Enabling either the linear of exponential FM to go into the thru zero modulation also couples that modulation into the "zero point". The zero point offers level control in a bipolar fashion which can invert waves and provide ring modulation. Merging TZFM and TZAM alongside the other features such as sync, waveform morphing, 3 types of pulse width modulation, sub oscillators and some unique waveform outputs really elevates this as a powerful analogue oscillator.

Quick Tip: Noise Hi-Hat Eurorack Modular Synthesizer Patch Tutorial

Published on Oct 21, 2019 Perfect Circuit

"In this quick tip, we break down how to make a hi-hat sound on a Eurorack modular synth.

You will need:
-a trigger source (clock, sequencer, keyboard, etc.)
-an AD envelope generator (ideally exponential)
-a white noise source
-a highpass filter
-a VCA
-some extra modulation (from an LFO, random source, sequencer, etc.)

The patch:
-white noise output to highpass filter input
-highpass filter output to VCA input
-exponential envelope with immediate attack and short-ish decay
-trigger source to trigger input of envelope
-optionally, modulation source to decay time of envelope
-VCA output is the hat sound

Classic analog hi-hat sounds are pretty easy to synthesize. By running white noise into a VCA and opening the VCA with a snappy AD envelope, you can simulate striking the hat with a drumstick. With shorter decay times on the envelope, the sound will be closer to a closed hi-hat; with longer decay times, you can simulate the sound of an open hi-hat.

By modulating the decay time, it's possible to create patterns that shift between more open and closed sounds. Additionally, running the sound through a highpass filter before the VCA will help to clean up the low-end: experiment with different cutoff frequencies and resonance levels for finer tone control."

MODULAR TECHNO!!! Steady State Fate Eurorack modules // Superbooth 2019

Published on May 18, 2019 DivKidVideo

"Any booth at a show playing great sounds and music is bound to draw people to it. This year at Superbooth 2019 Andrew of SSF / Steady State Fate gave us a nice slab of modular techno, getting rid of the technical side of demos and jamming out some great sounds on his modules. The upcoming Zero Point Oscillator with plenty of FM and wave shaping mixed with the Stereo Dipole set against the Entity drums and a few other choice modules gave us a chunky slab of thick synth sounds and pounding drums."

Steady State Fate Stereo Dipole // Eurorack quad filter, vco, slew, LFO + more!!!

Published on Apr 28, 2019 DivKidVideo

"So here we have the Stereo Dipole from SSF / Steady State Fate. It's a Eurorack quad filter with two filters per side (A and B, can be left and right for stereo). Each filter is multimode and you can mix and process in series or parallel or use both sides independently. The Stereo Dipole makes for a great quad oscillator, quad LFO, kinetic sub audio boom, slew generator, acidic filter, clean filter, stereo distortion and a tonne more.

Steady State Fate Stereo Dipole *FIRST PATCH* // Quad VCO, distorted bass + chords!

Published on Apr 16, 2019 DivKidVideo

"Wow, really wow! That's my initial impression of the Stereo Dipole from SSF (Steady State Fate). The raw sound of the filters, the control, layout and options ... honestly it's massively impressive and that speaks to the work Andrew at SSF does (he doesn't know I'm doing this, or writing this so hi Andrew if you're reading!)

This first patch makes use of the all four filter peaks oscillating to create a 4 part chord tone, then outputs are sent to the FM of the other filter side for some cross modulated (X MOD) FM and then other outputs feed the inputs which gives all sorts of guitar amp distortion, clipped overdrive type bass overtones."

SSF Stereo Dipole Eurorack Filter Multipeak VCF Module

Published on Mar 27, 2019 Perfect Circuit

"The Stereo Dipole from SSF is a filter with four filter cores that can be used in mono and stereo modes. In mono quad peak mode you can get interesting vocal formant sounds by stacking and spreading the filter peaks. Each pair of filters has a spread control to adjust the spacing between the filter peaks.

The Stereo Dipole can self oscillate and be tuned to chords or harmonics with the spread control and it responds to frequency modulation well. The second half of this video shows some sounds of the filter used as a sound generator.

We used the Kilpatrick Carbon sequencer to sequence the first part of the video and the SSF Entity Percussion and Entity Bass modules for the drums.

Stereo Dipole available here: https://www.perfectcircuit.com/ssf-st..."

SSF DETECT-Rx Filter Mod Demo

Published on Jul 13, 2018 SteadyStateFate

"Classic Envelope Follower Filter modulation example using the Steady State Fate DETECT-Rx

DETECT-Rx can respond to 3 general frequency ranges and adds an extra manual smoothing filter to control ripple and envelope dynamics.

The Envelope gain control can both attenuate and a large amount of gain to accommodate a wide range of input signal levels."

via SSF:

"The Detect-Rx is a versatile envelope follower, voltage controlled comparator (gate extractor) and rectifier providing many useful prescriptions to fill in your modular needs.

Functions:

DETECT-R is the main input and provides an envelope output, rectified output and gate output simultaneously. If a second signal is also patched into the EXTRACT-R, it can be used separately.

The top two controls and switch alter the response of the resultant envelope. Any signal level from LINE (-10dBv) up to modular (+/-5 to +/-10V) may be used.

The FREQ switch selects the spectra in which the envelope will respond to dynamic changes from the input signal.

SMOOTH adds an additional ripple smoothing level control and tracks the FREQ setting

ENV GAIN controls the level of the envelope and is capable of attenuation as well as a lot of gain for low level input signals and even guitars (some pre-gain may be required for certain guitar pickups)

THRU provides a buffered copy of the input signal for easy patching of classic envelope follower applications and more

An LED is provided for visual feedback of the envelope and peak level (clipping) indication.
