New Steady State Fate (SSF) Vortices HiFi

via CONTROL:

"Vortices HiFi is a limited release version of the original Vortices. The HiFi version offers the same mixing topology without the tape compression, overdrive and high frequency roll-off. All inputs of the HiFi version are DC coupled, now allowing use as a full spectrum control voltage mixer in addition to audio. Featuring a total of 14 inputs and 7 outputs in a relatively compact 16hp form factor (18hp with VCA CV expander).

Vortices accommodates mono and stereo sources, broken respectively into two mix bus sections, providing separate mix outputs as well as a Master Mix split stereo output and a Master stereo jack output on the back of the module.

The separated outputs and auxiliary inputs are provided to accommodate effect chains, feedback patching and end of chain mixing solutions as well as general sound processing, panning and cross fading applications.

Auxiliary Mono mix inputs provide additional unity gain inputs to the mono and stereo mixers for summing external mixes, fx returns and other general uses.

The headroom of all final mix outputs is approximately 20Vpp before additional hard clipping of the summed mixes occur."

Korg opsix- Dream vs Nightmare, external modular processing for a simple organ-like patch

video upload by Friendly Noise

"Modules: Xaoc Tallin, Schlappi Engineering 100 Grit and Angle Grinder, SSF Vortices, Intellijel Quadrax.
No eurorack: Strymon Nightsky

Preset used: 014 Ambi Sines. Internal filter and effects are off. The monophonic output goes into Xaoc Tallin for level raising and then the signal goes to 100 Grit for filtering and distortion. The output from 100 Grit goes into the Angle Grinder, where it gets splitted using the dedicated output for low pass and high pass filtering. The splitted signals go to two mono channels of Vortices. The panning of those two channels is modulated with channels 1 and 2 of Quadrax in LFO mode (but not from the beginning of the video). The idea is similar to what a Leslie does, but not trying to emulate the sound. Channels 3 and 4 of Quadrax are also in LFO mode and modulate the filter frequency of 100 Grit and Angle Grinder. Finally, Nightsky adds some ambient reverb. No sequencing or arpeggio were used, but sometimes the intermodulation of oscillator frequencies and harmonics would let you think there is some sequencing."

SSF Entity Ultra-Kick Prototype Testing Round 2
video upload by SteadyStateFate

"More testing of the up and coming Entity Ultra-Kick.

This demo mostly covers the range of tighter kick drum sounds where the Resonate control is mainly set before noon on the dial.

Random noodling and tried to cover some of the requests to show some of the various achievable click and initial impulse sounds, as well as some softer kicks.

Changes since last video:

Resonate control response widened up a bit.
Less early distortion - more clean headroom.
Increased bass response."

“IOLabs Flux 33 - Benjolin meets Arcane” by Friendly Noise

video by Friendly Noise

"IOLabs Flux, Spherical Sound Society Arcane, After Later Audio Benjolin V2, Steady State Fate Vortices, Befaco Rampage, Befaco Percall, Xaoc Tallin

Please make sure to listen in stereo!!

Video sections: 00:06 01
04:17 02
13:50 03
24:02 04

All sounds were recorded live with two strictly monophonic modules: Benjolin V2 and Arcane, but the use of panning and both Befaco modules results in very interesting textures, which sometimes sound like there is more than two voices at the same time.

Flux is just triggering a steady note as clock source. Density and Length are controlled in real time with the encoders and macro pots. There is only one single pattern in the whole video.

Arcane is clocked by the first channel of Flux. The output of Arcane goes into Tallin to raise the level and to add some warmth with Tallin’s internal saturation. The output of Tallin goes to the first monophonic channel of Vortices.

The voltage of Flux’ channel one is set to S/H mode and goes to the second channel of Tallin. From there it goes to Vortices in order to modulate the panning of Arcane. Since the voltage follows the triggers, every sound generated by Arcane has a different panning position, which greatly enhances the feeling of listening to a drum synthesizer.

Benjolin is a voice module, but it doesn’t have VCAs, so you need some external help to control the length of Benjolin’s sounds. This can be achieved sending the output of Benjolin to the first input of Percall. The decay length is manually controlled and the output goes to the second monophonic channel of Vortices.
The output of Flux goes also to Rampage, where the first envelope is used to generate “bit-crusher”-like sounds. The envelope output goes to the third monophonic channel of Vortices.

Finally, Benjolin’s direct output goes to the fourth monophonic channel of Vortices. The panning is also controlled by the voltages of Flux, as described above.

Some compression and reverb were added in the DAW after recording."

Mini Systems 002: SSF ZPO, Rossum Linnaeus, and the Digitakt!

Patchwerks Seattle

"In this video resident expert Jesse Humes takes us on a shuffle trip with his Intellijel Palette case full of excellent modules and the Elektron Digitakt. Featuring the SSF Zero Point Oscillator, Rossum Linnaeus, and the Intellijel Multi-FX 1U.

Rossum LINNAEUS is a stereo state variable filter that provides the unique ability to linearly modulate its resonant frequency through zero into negative frequency, while maintaining stability. With extensive voltage control of nearly every parameter, Linnaeus lets you manipulate the filter’s natural response curve in new ways, to create both subtle and dramatic timbral effects. And with a “one-knob-per-parameter” interface, LINNAEUS inspires sonic creativity that invites (and rewards) real-time interaction.

Order a Rossum LINAEUS here: http://bit.ly/Rossum_Linnaeus

The Zero Point Oscillator is not your typical analog VCO or even your standard Thru-Zero FM VCO for that matter. The core of the ZPO was developed through countless hours of experimentation involving Through-Zero modulation techniques. Through-Zero FM is a form of frequency modulation that produces much deeper and useful FM tones than a typical VCO can accomplish. New techniques have been discovered that not only improve the performance of TZFM, but also grant additional benefits as will be explained.

Order a SSF Zero Point Oscillator here: http://bit.ly/SSF_ZPO

The Intellijel Multi-FX 1U provides three carefully crafted and highly musical sounding delay based FX in a compact 1U package. Powerful on its own but even more fun as part of a bigger effects chain.

Three FX modes:
DELAY – tap/clock syncable, controls for rate/division, tone (feedback low pass filtering), and feedback amount.
CHORUS – controls for modulation rate, tone (brightness) and modulation depth.
PLATE REVERB – controls for pre-delay, tone (brightness), and decay time.
Stereo Wet/Dry balance for all three FX modes.

The Elektron Digitakt is a beat making powerhouse.

Compact, rugged and to the point. Digitakt is a formidable drum machine and sampler. With an astounding feature set and an exquisite digital sound engine, the stage is set for a striking encounter. Digitakt is a compact sampling drum machine from Elektron. It contains all the necessary tools to make people move to the beat. A digital and highly flexible sound engine, sampling capability, a live-friendly sequencer, dedicated tracks for controlling external MIDI gear, and Overbridge support. Digitakt is made for heavy use. It features hi res encoders and extremely durable back-lit buttons (rated for 50 million presses). The ultra crisp OLED screen perfectly renders the clear and streamlined user interface. The Digitakt comes pre-loaded with heaps of great electronic and acoustic sounds. Drums, percussion, synths, and FX are all part of the sound palette. The sample collection allows you to start creating, experimenting and producing right away.

DivKid / SSF Rnd Step Eurorack Module Jam and Patch Walkthrough

Perfect Circuit

"DivKid teamed up with SSF to make the RND STEP module. We used the RND STEP to modulate parameters on both of the voice modules in this patch. The RND STEP is basically six noise generators going into six sample and holds with some clever normalization so you can generate six random modulations with one trigger.

In this patch we used the SSF Entity Percussion module to generate all of the drum sounds and the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter as a voice sequenced by the Make Noise 0-CTRL. The XAOC Batumi and ALM Pam's New Workout clock everything. We used the Future Sound Systems Gristleizer Filter to add some screeching resonance that can be switched in and out with the Afrorack and Ali Modular OR Switch. Everything is mixed together with the Endorphin.es Cockpit.

Divkid's RND STEP overview and demo at Patchwerks!

Patchwerks Seattle

"RND STEP is a high performance, 3 channel sample and hold module, comprising of 6 unique sample and hold circuits in just 4HP.

Each channel features two internal analogue pink noise generators, and two sample and hold circuits split across unipolar and bipolar outputs. The unipolar output always samples its own noise source for a stepped random voltage between 0-5V. The bipolar output by default samples it’s own noise source (for -5V to +5V stepped random). However, you can override that connection with the sample input. This allows for sampling external audio or CV signals, and it can sample voltages anywhere between -10V and +10V with the sample input.

RND STEP will operate at slow trigger rates with highly extended hold times, ensuring it holds the voltage with minimal droop, but it will also operate up through audio rates for destructive downsampling FX for audio. When triggered at audio rates RND STEP outputs downsampled and clocked noise tones from the internal pink noise generators. These can then be used for modulation, percussion or sound FX.

Trigger input 1 will normalize across all 3 channels, meaning a single trigger can give 6 unique random voltages, of which 3 are bipolar and 3 are unipolar. The combination of both ensures you have the right voltages in the correct ranges for the sources you wish to modulate.
