Italian Innovation at Superbooth 2025 | Exploring Enjoy Electronics' DeFeel

video upload by Jonathan Knightsnare

"At Superbooth 2025, I had the pleasure of discovering Enjoy Electronics, an Italian company pushing the boundaries of modular synthesis. Their latest creation, the DeFeel, is a standout module designed to inject creativity and variation into your sequences.

What is DeFeel?

The DeFeel is a Modular Monotony Degenerator that sits between your sequencer and the rest of your modular setup. It allows you to break the linearity of sequences by introducing dynamic fills and variations, making your performances more expressive and less predictable.

Key Features:

Dual Independent Channels: Each with Gate/CV outputs for complex modulation.

4.3" Multi-Touch Interface: Intuitive control over patterns and parameters.

Advanced XY Mode: Real-time performance control with expressive gestures.

Dynamic Density Sequencing: From 1 to 64 gates per step, offering intricate rhythmic possibilities.

Multiple Playback Modes: Including Forward, Reverse, and Ping-Pong.

Comprehensive Modulation System: For all parameters, with real-time morphing.

Connectivity: 4 CV inputs, 2 Gate inputs, Clock, Play, and Reset inputs, plus 4 CV and 2 Gate outputs.

Why It Stands Out:

The DeFeel isn't just another sequencer; it's a tool that encourages spontaneity and live interaction. By allowing you to "degenerate" monotony, it brings a fresh approach to modular performances, making each session unique and engaging.

About Enjoy Electronics:

Based in Italy, Enjoy Electronics is dedicated to creating innovative tools that enhance musical expression. Their commitment to quality and creativity is evident in the DeFeel, which combines sleek design with powerful functionality."

NAMM 2025: Enjoy Electronics Defeel

video upload by sonicstate

"We caught up with Luca from Enjoy Electronics at their stylish NAMM booth where they presented their latest device, the *Defeel*, a modular monotony degenerator. Inspired by vintage analog drum machines, the Defeel is designed to sit between your sequencer and modular synths. It processes incoming CVs and gates through its interface, allowing for complex modulation without altering the original input signal.

Luca explained that the Defeel features a pass-through mode and can set the duration of fills, with gate repetitions adjustable up to 64 steps. It doubles as a CV recorder, offering intriguing morphing possibilities. With two channels, you can control and modulate four CVs and two gates per channel. Furthermore, it has an XY mode for recording live motion with time, frequency, and reverb modulation.

The Defeel is available for pre-order, offering both standalone and Eurorack formats, priced at €299 and €399 respectively.

Keith Emerson's 'Split' Minimoog Up for Auction

via this auction where you'll find a few more pics while up. The seller is Tony (Aviator) Wride. This one in via Senso.

"A unique opportunity to own a piece of Rock history! This Minimoog was one of the earliest ones owned by Keith Emerson (26 June 1973 date on keyboard) and he had the keyboard and electronics separated so that it could be used in his stage setup. Basically the keyboard was set up to slide into place when required while the electronics section remained out of the way. Please read the details below about how I ended up getting it in 1992 and look at the pictures. I have included some pictures taken in 1992 when I got the synth as well as some archive pictures of Keith and the Minimoog on stage.

THE STORY
In the early 90s I did a lot of work on analogue synths working for a number of well known bands as well as building my own analogue synth called “The Aviator”. It was basically a hobby for me. Please Google Tony Wride and Exclusively Analogue to find out more. You can ignore all the flying related stuff associated with my job!

In 1992 I was doing some work for Vince Clarke of Erasure prior to their Abbaesque tour and went to a rehearsal studio at Brent Cross in North London. Next door to the Erasure studio was another band rehearsing for their tour and it turned out to be ELP preparing for the “Black Moon” Tour! Keith had been one of my keyboard heroes and I never ever thought I would get the chance to meet him let alone see him rehearsing. I met Will Alexander, who was Keith's technician, and got talking about the famous big Moog which they planned to take on tour. "We would like to get it fitted with MIDI" said Will and I then suggested fitting a Kenton MIDI retrofit for a MiniMoog which is what I ended up doing! (See the pictures). Whilst working on the Modular I talked to Keith and Will about the gear they were going to use on tour and Will said "We need another SE1 (Basically a Minimoog in a rack with MIDI) to go in the rack but the dealer said they can't get one in time". It just so happened that I had just traded a mint condition Minimoog for an SE1 with a studio in London so sitting in the back of my car was an SE1! When I said to Will that I could get them an SE1 for the tour he asked "How soon?" "How does 3 minutes sound?" I said. Talk about coincidence!!

Keith ended up with my SE1 for the tour but I was now Minimoogless. Fortunately sitting in amongst a collection of unused ELP gear was the electronics section of a Minimoog looking in a very sorry state. I asked Will what had happened and what was happening to the remains of the Minimoog. "It's one of Keith's early MiniMoogs that had the keyboard separated from it so that it could be mounted on the Hammond. It doesn't work and the keyboard is in storage." We ended up agreeing to me having the non working "split" Minimoog as part of the deal for the SE1 on an understanding that they would send me the keyboard in the future.

Modal Electronics Releases ARGON8 Firmware v3

Modal Quick Dive – ARGON8 Firmware v3 video upload by Modal Electronics

ARGON8 – Factory Bank v3 Patches

"Completing the ARGON8 v3 Firmware Update, the new factory Patch Preset Sounds take huge advantage of the new Vintage and Oscillator Freerun features, the new filters and the exciting new Effects algorithms."

And the press release:

Modal Electronics ARGON8 Firmware v3 supercharges popular Wavetable Synthesisers

– Empowering music producers, musicians and sound designers' creativity with four new filter types, 15 brand new effects and a wealth of workflow enhancements and improvements –

Bristol, UK - 9 September 2022. Modal Electronics, a leading global synthesiser manufacturer, has just released an all-new firmware update for their critically-acclaimed feature-packed ARGON-Series synthesisers. Never content with a static approach to product development, ARGON-Series firmware v3 redefines the sound and functionality of Modal Electronics’ advanced Wavetable synths and adds a raft of new forward-thinking features that guarantee to supercharge users’ creative output like never before.

New in Firmware v3
The brand-new Vintage parameter helps to alter the organic fabric of the wavetable textures by emulating the behaviour of vintage synths’ technical imperfections, where certain tuning and other variations were introduced into the sound generation. Oscillator Free Run is another new feature known from analogue synthesisers and, when activated, adds to the sonic flexibility of ARGON8. ‘Classic’ Synth sounds are so much more alive with the vintage and free run parameters ensuring every key press is slightly different than the one before.

Firmware v3 adds four new filter types, incl. 4-Pole Ladder Filter, a 1-Pole Ladder Hybrid, a resonant Phaser Ladder Filter and a new 2-Pole Sallen-Key Filter. All new filters come with Pre-Filter drive, and the integrated polesweeping allows seamless morphing through the audio spectrum. The Ladder filter unlocks even more classic synth tones as well as expanding ARGONs experimental capabilities with the more complex filter outputs and the Sallen-Key filter brings a whole new level and character to gnarly, driven sounds, especially when paired with the Drive FX.

Additionally, ARGON8 Firmware v3 includes 15 new powerful effects. Harnessing our flexible processing distribution system, some of the new additions harnessing the power of two effects slots for more sonic power and depth. The V2 Reverb is great for adding a little bit of space to a sound, huge near-infinite reverbs and everything in-between. The new Chorus v2 was brought from our successful COBALT5S and COBALT8 synths and injects vintage Chorus tones to ARGON8. Creative sound gourmets will also enjoy the new Phaser v2, Compressor, Three-Band EQ, Unisoniser, Utility and additional Drive effects, giving enough options to give custom patch creations a final, production-ready touch

With the new firmware, the programmable Arpeggiator receives new Arp Directions to inspire musicians and producers. Firmware v3 also improves the capabilities of the OLED display, the Audio In quality, the gain staging of the audio output and much more. For a full list of new Features and Improvements, we recommend the Release Notes, available on the product’s web page.

Finally, Firmware v3 launches with the addition of a dedicated new bank of 100 new factory presets to showcase Firmware v3 in action.

Firmware v3 is available as a free update via our MODALapp software.
