KORG UK Synth Vids

video uploads by KORG UK

"From legendary analogue synthesizers to genre-defining digital powerhouses, Korg has sat at the heart of synth innovation for generations."

This one comes up via a KORG newsletter I just recieved with a video for "a deep dive into the multi/poly with Luke from Korg." I was about to post it and then realized it was from 11 months ago. I checked to see if I posted it before and couldn't find it. I've been posting the US videos. So... Here's KORG UK's synth playlist in case you missed any like me. You can use the player controls to skip around. It's a fun and interesting look back in time. You'll find Korg's Tatsuya Takahashi, aka Tat's, showcasing the Volca series.

As always, check with dealers on the right for availability.

"Another attempt at a live 3 monotribe jam for the Korg Monomania contest, just used some fx and the 3 monotribes, running them at half speed allows longer patterns as seen here, the track is called "Technology & Science" and is a homage to Kraftwerk, I might do a full version with lyrics as it was hard to fit everything in 2 minutes ;) No multitracking or other tricks!"

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS

Playlist:
Ultimate Synth Selection - KORG NAUTILUS
The Ultimate Synth Selection utilises the Set List feature in NAUTILUS and gives the user the ability to search for sounds from legacy instruments through to the world-class sound engines of the NAUTILUS.

Imagine walking into a room containing an MS20, a Polysix, WAVESTATION, M1, TRITON, Concert pianos, CX-3 drawbar organs, Electric Pianos with an array of FX pedals, supercharged FM synths and more…

The Ultimate Synth Selection lets you do that within the NAUTILUS by giving the user 11 custom setlists created by KORG UK. Full details at https://www.korg.com/uk/news/2021/090...

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS - SGX-2
The SGX-2 Premium Piano sound engine offers three distinctive pianos - the rich German D piano, a Japanese upright model and a small Japanese C grand. Each uses superb, un-looped stereo samples, with 12 velocity levels. Thoughtful attention to detail preserves the realism and warmth of the piano sound, even to the extent of sampling and reproducing the sounds of the body resonances and the mechanical key, damper pedal noises, string resonance, varied microphone placements and even prepared piano samples.

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS - EP-1
Our EP-1 sound engine is dedicated to faithfully recreating six of the most popular classic electric pianos which provide realistic simulations of the period amp, cabinet, speaker and even the hard-to-find vintage effects that gave the original instruments their distinctive sound. The MDS modelling technology eliminates the transitions between velocity-switched samples and provides the user with unique control over the tines, reeds and noise elements.

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS - CX-3
The original KORG CX-3 combo organ went on sale in 1980. The CX-3 engine precisely models this classic tonewheel instrument. Proprietary KORG technology has been used to perfectly reproduce the vacuum tube amp and effects, such as Vibrato/Chorus and the must-have rotary speaker - even the instability, fold-back, leakage and noise of the tonewheels have been obsessively analysed to recreate this much sought-after classic organ.

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS - MS-20EX
Debuting in 1978, the MS-20 unified a 37-note keyboard with a vertically oriented control panel. It had a thick and solid sound, aggressive filters and patching that opened up limitless potential for creating sounds. Using KORG's CMT (Component Modeling Technology), the MS-20EX faithfully reproduces the MS-20, whilst dramatically expanding its patch panel functionality. Its signature filters provide a unique sound, a great contrast to the AL-1 and PolysixEX.

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS - PolysixEX
The original Polysix from 1981 offered six-voice polyphony, program memory and a surprisingly competitive price tag. With its self-oscillating four-pole filter, smooth analogue oscillator and sub-oscillator, plus a lush Chorus/Ensemble effect, the PolysixEX extends the abilities of the original in many creative ways, The Polysix arpeggiator is included and you can modulate every control on the front panel to make new sounds that were impossible on the original keyboard.

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS - WAVESTATION
The WAVESTATION synthesizer appeared in 1990 with an advanced vector synthesis system that combined and shifted between multiple complex waveforms. Using the HD-1 Engine in the NAUTILUS, KORG have included most of the original wave sequences, as well as a full wave sequence edit mode. The patterns can also be manipulated with the on-screen vector joystick, just like on the original!

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS - TRITON
The KORG TRITON series of workstations was first released in 1999. Countless top musicians and producers from around the world loved the newly developed expressive PCM sounds that helped shape the sound of the 2000s in the studio and on stage. This collection of 128 original TRITON programs uses the HD-1 engine to faithfully recreate the HI (Hyper Integrated) synthesis system that was at the core of the legendary TRITON series.

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS - MOD-7
Combine Variable Phase Modulation (VPM), wave-shaping, ring modulation, samples and subtractive synthesis, plus a modular patch-panel system and you end up with the MOD-7. Exceptionally versatile, it offers everything from classic FM keyboards, bells and basses (including the ability to import sounds from vintage DX synths), to rhythmic soundscapes and sparkling, epic pads.

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS - AL-1
The AL-1 is the same premium feature-packed analogue modelling sound engine that was first featured on the KORG OASYS, the Open Architecture Synthesis Studio back in 2005. Its patented ultra-low-aliasing oscillators smoothly recreate all the power and glory of true analogue synthesis-without the artifacts that can plague lesser instruments.

Ultimate Synth Selection for NAUTILUS - STR-1
Based on the physical modelling DNA that KORG developed in products such as the WAVEDRUM, Prophecy and Z1, this struck/plucked-string physical modelling sound engine takes advantage of cutting-edge technology. The STR-1 engine is packed full of highly playable sounds, whose tone responds to your touch in ways that are difficult for a PCM sound engine to replicate, including acoustic and electric guitars, harpsichords, clavinets, harps, bells and ethnic instruments.

The idea of an analog synth symphony, I have Tomita's influence, of course, than that "PS If there are 48 units monotron-3100 would" talk like a joke (circuit designer monotron Development Planning from interview with Mr.) or have inspired you.
Rather than quality or quantity or flow of work. But also seems like a bad way and I think a little now, use care not become so absolutely sampler.
Monotron currently owns two. PS-46 units remaining until 3100 (impossible)!"

Andy and Luke from KORG explore and showcase the new opsix & NAUTILUS workstation

Korg

"Andy and Luke from KORG explore and showcase the opsix ALTERED SYNTHESIZER. Building on the classic 6-operator FM synthesis made famous in the 1980s, KORG have added extra algorithms (including the ability to create your own!), four new operator modes including Wavefolder and Ring Modulator and demystified FM programming with a musician friendly front panel.

With elements like 16 step sequencing with motion record, a stellar effects section and full DX patch compatibility, the opsix is a tremendously powerful instrument, equally at home in a studio or live situation."

KORG synth evangelists Luke and Andy introduce the new KORG NAUTILUS workstation

"KORG’s UK synth evangelists Luke and Andy dive a little deeper into the new KORG NAUTILUS workstation. As you will see here this is a streamlined version of KORG’s flagship industry-leading KRONOS, with new sounds to explore, from essential to experimental and cutting edge.

The front panel is reimagined with the live player in mind and all their favourite functions are still there, from Set List to Smooth Sound Transitions and 16-part COMBIs incorporating the unique nine dedicated sound engines.

The true power of a workstation is still there with full sampling capability, 32 track (16 audio, 16 MIDI) sequencing, and a powerful effects section giving producers the tools they need to refine their mix.

With all of this technology combined, the NAUTILUS is the most powerful workstation in its class."

KORG TRITON EXTREME EXB-MOSS Z1 KILLER SCI-FI SOUNDS & FX Part 1 by Rik Marston

Published on Jul 14, 2016 SynthgodXXX

Update: part 2 added below.

The first patch sounds similar to Prophetic Steps on the KORG Prophecy. Same engine but slightly different some say. I always thought the Z1 was a Polyphonic Prophecy, but the parameter editing does not actually match up 1 to 1. I once tried creating Prophetic Steps on the Z1 to see what a polyphonic version would sound like and ultimately gave up. On the other hand the Yamaha UK once released a Roland JP-8000 soundset for the Yamaha AN1X that was quite spot on. I A/B'ed them and was blown away at how exact they got it in some cases. I always wondered if they ported the patches through software of if an individual meticulously recreated them.

KORG Volcas on eBay

"Three true-analog synthesizers with built-in sequencers to generate the ultimate analog leads, basses, and rhythms

Following in the footsteps of the monotron, monotribe, and MS-20 Mini analog synthesizers, Korg announces the Volca series. Volca is a new lineup of EDM production tools comprised of three distinct models: the Volca Keys lead synthesizer, the Volca Bass synthesizer, and the Volca Beats rhythm machine. These powerful and fun-to-use true-analog devices deliver a diverse array of fat sounds that can be obtained only from an analog synthesizer. Each is also equipped with sequencing/recording capabilities for intuitively generating performances. Multiple volcas can be used in tandem via the vintage-style sync in/out, and with your favourite DAW software or MIDI keyboard via MIDI In. Battery operation and built-in speakers mean that you can conveniently play anywhere and anytime. These are the next-generation analog synthesizers, bringing you the ultimate sounds and grooves with ease and depth. Whether used together or by themselves, the Volca series is poised to inject true analog power into any performance or studio setup!

Luke from Korg UK runs us through the main features and sounds from all 3 Volca's."

Korg PS-3200 (1978) - Professionally Restored Full System

Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this Reverb listing

"Korg PS-3200 - A fully configured system that's been fully cosmetically and operationally restored.

One of the finest fully configured surviving examples of Korg’s iconic PS-3200 — a true masterpiece of 1970s analogue engineering, fully restored for the modern collector.

Servicing Status

KSR has undertaken an extensive cosmetic and operational restoration of this PS-3200, a project spanning several years but largely completed by the end of 2024 — thanks to the exceptional work of Kent Spong of KSR. The Korg has been held in our secure facility throughout 2025, so post-sale, we will have the instrument and all accessories fully checked before shipping or delivering to the new owner. This process will add approximately 10 to 14 days to the post-sale completion time.

Remarks

We have decided to offer for sale our complete Korg PS-3200 System, which forms part of the RL Music Vintage Synthesizer Collection. Over the last 22 years, we’ve retained a small number of the finest vintage synthesizers to pass through our hands — instruments we found particularly inspiring or significant. This PS-3200 is one such example and has been the subject of a full and detailed cosmetic and operational restoration by our trusted vintage synth technician, Kent Spong of KSR.

It is generally accepted that Korg produced only around 200 units of the PS-3200, although the exact number is difficult to verify. Whether 100 or 500 were made, production was certainly very limited, making this an exceptionally rare, hand-built instrument by any measure.

Due to the rarity and individual nature of instruments like this, we’ve taken great care to provide a comprehensive and honest description of this PS-3200. We encourage any prospective buyer to ensure they have all the information needed to make an informed purchase decision — and of course, we are happy to answer any questions directly.

Provenance

We purchased this PS-3200 from a UK seller (an experienced user) in 2015 and collected it personally from their studio in the South of England. At the time, the instrument was fully working but had not been professionally serviced, so we decided to retain it within our PS-series collection — completing the full lineup — and plan its restoration later.

The overall condition was original and very good but showing signs of cosmetic age typical for a 35+-year-old synthesizer. We therefore elected to undertake a full operational and cosmetic restoration. While the market for highly restored vintage synths has cooled in recent years — as values for unrestored examples have climbed — our motivation for this restoration was personal rather than commercial, as the PS-3200 has always been part of our private collection.

System Configuration

PS-3200 Main Frame
PS-3010 Keyboard Controller
PS-3001 Interconnect Cable
PS-3030 Remote
PS-3001 Interconnect Cable (second)
PS-3040 Dual Pedal
Kenton MIDI Retrofit Kit fitted
This particular PS-3200 includes the extremely rare PS-3030 Remote, a unique device allowing live performers access to the patch memories — a groundbreaking feature for 1978.

iTunes: KORG iM1 - KORG INC.
Update: other KORG apps are on sale as well.

Another full blown classic digital synth goes on sale for the iPad. The original KORG M1 retailed for US$2166, UK£1499, JP¥248,000 according to wikipedia. iM1 is currently on sale for $19.99. A crazy side note is all of it fits in only 84.9M of space.

What's interesting is how spoiled we've become with the low cost of iPad apps, myself included. Did you pick up the iM1 for $29.99 when it originally came out? Will you pick it up for $19.99? Share your thoughts in the comments below. No log in required.

What's New in Version 1.0.3
• Added: VoiceOver (where possible)
• Fixed: preset ranking on Darwin gadget now updates properly
• Fixed: the Scale Step value is no longer edited when changing the Scale
• Other minor bugs fixes and improvements

"HOTTEST SALE! KORG music apps are up to 50% off until August 21!

A complete reproduction – and more - of the legendary M1 that defined an era
Mobile Digital Synthesizer for the iPad

Since it went on sale in 1988 the legendary M1 music workstation rapidly achieved record-breaking sales, becoming a mainstay of the music scene from the late 1980s and beyond. The common element of electronic instruments that have left their name in history is that they had a unique sound that was difficult if not impossible to replicate. Sounds such as the “M1 Piano” is instantly recognizable and have appeared on countless hit records over many years, and yet these are sounds that could only be produced by the M1. And that’s what you can now have on your iPad!

● A faithful reproduction of the original M1 Sound
The PCM data provides the library of the original M1. For the hardware, we analyzed the circuit diagram of the original design, and completely replicated it in software down to the last detailed parameters. Engineers with an exhaustive knowledge of the M1 made careful adjustments in order to obtain the sound of the original unit, something that cannot be obtained simply by sampling the original sounds.

● A continued evolution of the M1
Not content with simply reproducing the original, iM1 provides further evolutionary developments. Synth parts now have the Filter Resonance that was requested at the time of the original. The effect parts, originally consisting of only two effects, have been powered-up to 18 effects. The user interface has also been refreshed with additions such as a KAOSS pad. iM1 is the ultimate version of the KORG M1.

● A gigantic library encompassing 3,300 sounds and 34 cards*
In addition to all 19 of the ROM cards originally released for the M1, iM1 also covers the sounds of the M1EX which expanded the internal PCM of the M1, as well as the sounds of the T-series which appeared as an evolution of the M1. There’s also 'BEST OF M1', a selection of 100 great M1 programs. The new 'Smart Sound Browser' makes it quick to find the desired sound. You can also view the sounds ranked by how often they are selected by iM1 users around the world.
