IG00151 VCA Clone for YAMAHA CS Synthesizers (CS5,CS15,CS30,CS50,CS60,CS80)
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
You can find them on Reverb and Ebay.
"The clone is fully drop-in replaceable and is able to coexist with the original vintage chips in the same synthesizer. It can function as VCA and current source for envelope controller on M-cards, or control voltages for TRG boards (and on any other board that uses that chip). It has the same control voltage cutoff point and similar non-linear control curve as the original, so all the control sliders work the same."
Additional details follow:
"The iG00151AP is a replicant of the rare IG00151 Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA) chip, which was used by Yamaha in their CS-series analog synthesizers and organs from the 1970s and 80s. The iG00151AP was carefully engineered from the original chip, retaining all of its characteristics and properties, including the peculiar non-linear control curve and cutoff, input and output impedances, and identical power consumption at the same gain setting. This makes the iG00151AP the only "clone" available today that is fully drop-in replaceable and is able to coexist with the original vintage chips in the same synthesizer. While the originals are getting more expensive and harder to find, the availability of the iG00151AP ensures that the CS-series analog synthesizers remain serviceable. One CS-80 synthesizer contains 210 of these chips!
INSTALLATION
To install the iG00151AP, ensure that the marked PIN 1 location on the part matches PIN 1 location on the circuit board. With the pins pointing down, PIN 1 on the original chip is on the left when facing the part number, while the iG00151AP has PIN 1 on the left when facing the component side (not the part number). Carefully orient the part properly and solder it to the circuit board. Clip excess leads as necessary.
WARNING: As with the original chip, a reverse installation will damage the part when power is applied!
CALIBRATION
After installing the part, allow the instrument to warm up and stabilize for at least 30 minutes, then recalibrate the circuit following the procedures of the original manufacturer. Similar to the original chip, the gain may vary from unit to unit. Proper calibration will ensure that the new part performs the same as the original.
As with the original chip, the iG00151AP may have a similar input offset that varies from unit to unit. This manifests itself as a control voltage (CV) feedthrough to the output. Depending on the application, it may be necessary to trim the offset, but this is usually provided in the vintage circuit, if required. No additional offset trim circuitry is necessary if it is installed in the original circuit.
The iG00151AP is compatible with Yamaha CS-80, CS-70m, CS-60, CS-50, CS-40m, CS-30, CS-20m, CS-15D, CS-15, CS-10, CS-5, and other synthesizers and organs that use the IG00151 VCA chip."

CD15D - Yamaha CS-15D for Ableton Live
"CS15D is an extensive multi-sample Live Pack reproducing the sound of the vintage Yamaha CS-15D, a great sounding monophonic analog synthesizer released in 1979."
https://www.clustersound.com/product-detail.php?id=139
"THE SOURCE The CS-15D is a monophonic analog synth with loads of character, one of the most solid and warm single-VCO machine ever. The synth features 29 preset voices divided in two mixable channels, plus a manual section comprising a variable pulse-saw oscillator, a PW modulator, a noise generator and a 12db filter with a dedicated ADSR envelope.
BRILLIANT Despite referred to an array of realistic instrument names (Tuba, Oboe, Horn, Harpsi, Xilophone..) the 29 presets give a variety of synthetic sounds ranging from fat basses to solid percussive organs and warm brass strings. These sounds can be altered by the Brilliance slider which acts in several interesting ways depending on the selected preset.
THE PACK CS15D is based on 74 multi-sample recordings reproducing all the presets with different brilliance amounts, several variations of the VCF envelope and various manual oscillator settings (including a tuned noise). The Live Pack features 90 Instrument Racks with useful macro controls, including special Mixed Racks for easy drag ’n drop customization."

Yamaha CS-15D Demo
YouTube via sounddoctorin
"Bob Weigel of http://sounddoctorin.com (incredible tech resource page included) demonstrates the somewhat rare Yamaha CS-15D two vco analog monosynth. This machine mixes a vco dedicated to preset voicings with one that can be presets or the knobs. (manual). Great sounding classic CS series machine with the standard chips used in the other great ones, but more useful in performance with some great presets."

NOTE: The high-end digital noise (aliasing) in the audio seems to be an anomaly of the video compression. In any case, please enjoy..."

Published on Aug 6, 2014 Talenting

Yamaha CS-15D 37-Key Monophonic Analog Dual Channel Synthesizer SN 3527
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
The Yamaha CS15D is part of the partially preset, partially variable monophonic analogue synth which was released by Yamaha in 1979. It has a very solid warm sound for a single VCO synth. The preset section is divided into two channels. Channel 1 has 15 sounds with the usual array of unrealistic instrument imitations and Channel 2 has 14 synth sounds plus a button to activate the 'manual' section of the synth. There is a slider to mix between the two channels and channel 2 can be detuned. The 'manual' section comprises 1 VCO with a variable control between pulse and saw waves. There are also controls for pulse width modulation, noise and footings (32' - 2'). The 12dB filter has cut-off and resonance plus a dedicated ADSR envelope with a control for envelope amount.

"This Yamaha CS15D is in excellent working condition.
All sliders, knobs and keys are working well, no noticeable scratchy or dirty pots.
I believe this is the original power cable as well, just with a modified plug at the end because the original would have been Japanese.
There is some slight chipping in some of the wood paneling (All pictured).
All Presets sound and work great as well as the synth section.
It is a very simple but very fun synth to dive into.
Great for warm gritty bass sounds, especially when mixing in the tuba section."
