Working with Ableton Live Racks and Macros: Roto-Control 2.0 Firmware Melbourne Instruments

video upload by Melbourne Instruments

"When working with Ableton Live racks and macros with Roto-Control 2.0 firmware, all instruments and effects racks will default to automatic macro mapping, whereby macro controls and names will be automatically detected by Roto-Control and mapped to Roto's knobs — indicated with light blue colored labels. This is applicable for all racks; instrument, drum, audio effects and MIDI effect racks, This also applies to individual racks that you may have made.

To disable automatic macro mapping and further customize displays, labels and haptics, press LEARN and begin to map knobs accordingly, as you would when learning other plugins and devices parameters. Pressing LEARN will disable the automatic mapping for that specific rack/macro. Manually mapped controls default to dark blue labels. Once you start to manually map knobs; colors, names and haptics can be further customized in the Roto-Setup App.

To return to automatic macro mapping for that specific rack/macro, CLEAR all manually mapped controls. Press LEARN, keep it pressed and touch the knob on Roto-Control you want to clear. There will be a prompt to CLEAR, touch the knob again to CLEAR the mapping.

IMPORTANT: Each rack must have a UNIQUE NAME. Racks with the default names Instrument Rack, Audio Effect Rack, MIDI Effect Rack and Drum Rack cannot be customized with the LEARN button – they must be renamed first. This is to ensure plugins saved to Roto-Control memory are unique and separate.

J3PO's "Funk & Fusion Classics" Prophet Rev 2 Library -- Official Sounds Demo

video upload by Julian "J3PO" Pollack

"🔥 In this video, you can listen to all 28 patches 🎛️ included in the new J3PO 'Funk and Fusion Classics' patch library for the Prophet Rev2 🎹

I designed these patches for playing several shows with Herbie Hancock at the Hollywood Bowl. Sharing the stage with Herbie and the original Head Hunters was one of the most surreal and meaningful experiences of my life, a true full-circle moment as a lifelong fan.

These sounds were designed for tributes to Wayne Shorter and Weather Report, Herbie, Joe Zawinul, Stevie Wonder, Chick Corea, and more. From 'Chameleon' to 'Black Market,' these are stage-tested patches built for funk and fusion. This is the third volume in my 3-part Rev2 series, completing User Bank 4 (001–128) across all three packs. If you already have Vols. 1 and 2, this finishes the set. And if you’re new, you can now grab the full bundle. Check the link below for more info.

About the artist: Julian “J3PO” Pollack is a Los Angeles-based keyboardist, producer, and sound designer, renowned for his virtuosic yet soulful blend of jazz, fusion, hip-hop, and electronic music. He has toured and/or recorded with legends including Marcus Miller, Terence Blanchard, Chris Botti, Herbie Hancock, Santana, Talib Kweli, and many others. He has released several acclaimed solo albums, most recently SOUL & CIRCUITRY (Ropeadope, 2025). A former guest on NPR’s Piano Jazz at just 18, Julian is also a sought-after sound designer for top synth companies like Nord, Sequential, Oberheim, and Spectrasonics.

“Liar, Liar, 960 Denier!” 😅

video upload by John L Rice

"I’ve been getting a bit burnt out doing endless video editing lately so when my friend David (Kindred Lost) made a nice cover/demo of his Moog 960 style sequencer doing the bass sequence from Tangerine Dream’s 'Rubycon' and said 'nothing but the 960 can do this' so I fired up my trusty Moon 569 sequencer to see if I could do it too! 🤓 David’s demo sound much more 'Moogy' that mine and is closer to the original TD track, I mainly just wanted to see if I could recreate similar patterns. Check out David's video 👌😎: • Franke and Ruby [posted here]

I used the following modules:
Moon Modular: 569 sequencer
Oakley: Slim VCO B (as VC clock)
Marienberg: Envelope Generator A, VC Sine Phase Oscillator
Noise Engineering: Cursus Iteritas Magnus VCO
STG Soundlabs: Post-Lawsuit Lowpass Filter
Synthetic Sound Labs: Tube VCA, Quad LFO
Synthesizers.com: Q125 Signal Processor

Also:
Allen & Heath: MixWizard 20S
Lexicon: MX400
Strymon: BigSky, Timeline"

The Silent Alchemist sound recording test comparison - noise free.

video upload by myVolts

"Need some silence? 😃
.
At myVolts, we're not just trying to power your gear, we want to give you the best possible audio output too.
.
You may not realise it, but isolation of your power sources keeps your output clean and as you intended.
.
Have a listen (headphones recomended) to our two setups here, the first 30 seconds is USB powered from a standard AC power hub. It's not imposing itself on the sound, but if you listen to that silence at the start, you've got unwanted noise. 😢
.
In the second setup, the noise just isn't there. The Silent Alchemist helped you avoid something you now won't need to clean up afterwards.
.
We're all about simplifying your process, with solutions that just work.
.
Setup info 1:
3 X USB Power ports used
1- Digitakt with 12V Step Up.
2-Korg Volca Drum 9V+ Step Up
Our Crazychain CC47N1 converts polarity and tip size to power the Chase Bliss Onward pedal.
3-Standard USB-C cable takes 5V and Powers the Zoom L6.

Audio setup:
Digitakt connected to Zoom L6
Volca Drum output sent through CB onward into Zoom L6.

Note: we would normally give a mixer/recorded it's own independent power source, this is probably the origin of the noise in the mix. However, with the Silent Alchemist, it's not a concern, isolation means no noise, even when sharing a power source.

Setup info 2:
As above, regarding Audio.
The power setup is slightly different, each device gets it's own USB-C power source, so four in total.
.
If you would like to examine these setups, the screenshots in the video are taken from PowerMyGear, our free web tool for planning your power setup.

"This workhorse of a synth has been with us from the 80's and well beyond! From Michael Jackson to Gary Numan this iconic synth has been on countless records and sounded excellent throughout all of them. This particular D-50 has a couple screws missing on the bottom cover, but aside from that is in very good condition. The cmos battery has been replaced, and the original back light is still working great!"

"Programmable analog drum machine from East Germany, often tagged as the "east block TR-808". I think it deserves better than this comparision, since it's a very nice sounding drum machine on its own, with many features for the time (MIDI IN and OUT - sync and trigger, stereo output, optional trigger inputs and individual outputs etc)

Unit was serviced, calibrated and is in fully working order. It has the latest firmware which fix the MIDI timing issue earlier units had.

If you don't know these units check the demo I made with another unit [in the listing and previously posted here], I serviced several of those units through the years.

Cosmetic is in excellent condition with only very little wear and scuff."

"This is a short video of my 1984 Rhodes Chroma. I am the original owner.
This shows me creating a scratch patch using the CC+ Split 39 function , which shows the instrument functioning as it should"

via this Reverb listing

"It is registered on the Chroma Website 0660

Is it fully functional , has the CC+ and midi interface , and a new power supply installed by the best Chroma tech on the east coast.

It is cosmetically beautiful. The black metal top shows a few scratches from having a Rhodes Chroma Polaris on it years ago, hence the 'excellent' vs ' mint ' condition

It has a new flight case to original specs, all original manuals , all needed pedals , although those are not original"

Minimal Ambient Music with TENORI-ON | Fragmented Star 2025-07-30 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece for YAMAHA TENORI-ON, wavestick, and ‪@NordKeyboards‬ Nord Lead. Minimal phrases scattered by delay blend with synth textures into a minimal ambient soundscape.

On the TENORI-ON, I switch blocks to morph the phrase. It’s routed through ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MK II for delay, pitch-shifting, and occasional micro-loops.

The wavestick is pitch-controlled by using the ‪@KORG_INC‬ SQ-1 in STEP JUMP mode as a CV keyboard. Its output runs into ‪@strymon‬ NIGHTSKY for reverb and delay.

The Nord Lead plays the harmony, with delay from ‪@gfisys‬ Specular Tempus."
