How's the Serenity?

video upload by cirtcele

"Quad reverse sigmoid chaos module with CV inputs, sync controls and mixed outputs
https://www.nonlinearcircuits.com/mod...

single 1U version - https://www.nonlinearcircuits.com/mod..."

"This module is a set of 4 reverse sigmoid chaos circuits, running at different frequencies, there are pots to feed each section into another and influence, sync – sort of, the action. There are also CV inputs for each section which affect the reset or crossover timing, for the faster ones the results are obvious. For the slower ones, give it a few hours.

The reverse sigmoid circuits are similar in concept to the mackey-glass based design used in the NLC Frisson, but are greatly simplified to a bare minimum of parts. Simply an integrator, two all pass filters and a nonlinear stage with two feedback paths. The nice thing about them is you can use any capacitors you like, so long as all three are the same, and the circuit will work with no other mods required. The sections in this module use 1uF, 10uF, 2x 1000uF in series (so 500uF) and 2x 2200uF in series (so 1100uF).

They work quite differently to the Sloth chaos circuits, with a number of ripples or rolls between each attractor, also the three outputs track each other, the faster ones are delayed by a few seconds, the slower ones by minutes. The intent of having 4 different circuits running together with pots to get them to influence each other is to have a module that can create longer tracks with many different but related musical events happening and, of course, weird delayed CV effects. Think of a band where the members all do their own thing but every now and then the sounds and patterns connect and achieve structure, which slowly scatters and reforms in new ways.

Feel free to change the 1uF caps to a higher or lower value, similarly for the 10uF. Stack capacitors on top of each other to get 20uF, or use Tayda 22uF caps and stack them. See pictures on pg6 for info on which caps to change. Make sure the capacitors have at least a 25V rating or higher.

If you want to use larger values than 1000uF and 2200uF, make sure they will fit on the PCB and/or thru the panel holes (1000uF on PCB are 10mm diameter, 2200uF panel holes are 16.8mm)

There are also two difference rectifier circuits which output complex mixes of the individual chaos circuits."

1U REVERSE SIGMOID
DESCRIPTION/USAGE

6hp

This module is a reverse sigmoid chaos circuit; it can be built to run as a fast or slow CV source, or even as an audio/noise source. This is a single version of the four chaos circuits in the NLC How’s the Serenity module.

The reverse sigmoid circuits are similar in concept to the mackey-glass based design used in the NLC Frisson, but are greatly simplified to a bare minimum of parts. Simply an integrator, two all pass filters and a nonlinear stage with two feedback paths.

The nice thing about this design is you can use any capacitors you like, so long as all three are the same the circuit will work with no other mods required. The capacitors are marked ‘C’ on the PCB, 1uF is a good mid-range value to install, but 10uF, 22uF are good too albeit much slower. Lower values than 100nF get you into audio rate territory. Make sure the capacitors have at least a 25V rating or higher.

This works quite differently to the Sloth chaos circuits, with a number of ripples or rolls between each attractor, also the three outputs track each other, the faster versions are delayed by a few seconds, the slower ones by minutes.

The Input expects a positive CV, negative going CVs won’t hurt but will have no effect. The CV signal feeds into the first all-pass filter stage via 10k and a diode, this is different to the method used on How’s the Serenity. On slower builds, using 10uF caps, the effect of the CV will be washed out to some extent. It will still have an effect but not as noticeably as on the faster versions.

Alien 303 V2 (MONO) vs. Alien 4DX (Binaural space 3D Sound) | Acid Evolution Comparison

video upload by G-Sonique

"Alien 303 V2 (MONO) vs. Alien 4DX (Binaural space 3D Sound) comparison

Is Mono Acid dead? 🛸 In this video, we compare the legendary Alien 303 V2 with the groundbreaking Alien 4DX Binaural Topology synthesizer.

While traditional acid synths are usually mono and "flat," the new Alien 4DX uses a special 3D binaural topology that emulates analog circuits and DSP chips to place the sound directly in a 3D/4D space around your head. No quadraphonic setup needed – just your headphones or 2 speakers.

What’s the difference?

Alien 303 V2: The classic, punchy, '2D' mono acid lead that defined a generation.

Alien 4DX: A massive, organic, and harmonically rich sound that fills the entire stereo field using psychoacoustic principles (time shifts, phase distortion, and frequency modulation).

Key Features of Alien 4DX:

Serge ResEQ | No Input Feedback

video upload by Akihiko Matsumoto

"Serge Modular Synth (Sample Pack) https://akihikomatsumoto.sellfy.store...
Created entirely with the unique sonic character of Serge modular systems

About this Pack
Serge Tcherepnin once described his instruments not as tools but as open systems for discovering relationships between sound and control. The Serge Modular Synth is built on this principle. It does not simulate acoustic behavior; it generates its own logic of vibration. Each circuit is an experiment in how voltage can behave as if it were alive.

This sample pack captures that principle through Random Source’s modern Serge system, combining the GTO, GTS, and Res EQ with the reissued 50th Anniversary Paperface. The recordings move fluidly between the precise tension of Eurorack signals and the raw, physical tone of classic 4U banana systems. Every patch was shaped through direct voltage interaction rather than digital post-processing, preserving the unpredictable complexity that defines the Serge approach.

Why Serge Matters
Serge Modular was designed in the 1970s by Serge Tcherepnin. It was created as an open-ended tool for sonic experimentation. Influenced by cybernetics and avant-garde composition, this system rejects musical hierarchies and embraces uncertainty.
In Serge, control voltages and audio signals are treated as equals. The circuits invite exploration through feedback, cross-modulation, and unpredictable interactions. Every patch is a process of discovery rather than reproduction.
This makes Serge a powerful choice for artists seeking sounds that are not pre-shaped or confined by rules. The textures you will find in this pack are unstable, alive, and deeply human.

Inside the Pack
The collection includes loops, one-shots, and drones. It extends from tonal minimalism to complex, evolving noise structures. You will find FM and AM modulations, unstable oscillations, and dark ambient layers that drift beyond equal temperament. There are moments of feedback that verge on collapse, SSG circuits running into chaotic self-modulation, and subtle rhythmic patterns that carry the unmistakable texture of analog uncertainty.
Each sound maintains the distinctive grain of Serge synthesis: harmonic richness without symmetry, motion that arises from interaction rather than programming. This is material for artists who value the tactile quality of electricity, who hear circuits as compositional partners rather than instruments.

Who This Pack Is For
Ideal for producers working in experimental electronic music, sound design, ambient, noise, or techno.
This pack suits those who are not satisfied with polished libraries and are looking for materials that add edge, texture, and risk to their work.

Continuous Evolution
This library is a growing archive. New sounds are added through regular updates at no additional cost for existing users. If you already own the pack, simply log in to your Sellfy account and new files will appear automatically. For those new to the collection, this is an invitation to enter a sonic environment that is never fixed but always evolving.

Not Just a Sample Pack
Some of the included tracks were originally composed as complete works. These can be experienced as finished drone pieces or used as inspiring source material. The lines between sample and sound art are intentionally blurred."
