Why the Leviasynth Might Be the Last Synth You Ever Need
video upload by Scott's Synth Stuff
"The new ASM Leviasynth is finally arriving, and there are a lot of questions about what this powerful synthesizer can actually do. In this video I answer the most common questions from viewers and the synth community — covering balanced outputs, the analog filter, oscillator behavior, envelopes, signal path, keybed feel, firmware updates, and more.
You'll hear demonstrations showing low-end compensation with resonance, self-resonating analog filters, oscillator envelopes, FM modulation tricks, and even how to turn the Leviasynth into a massive drone machine. If you're considering buying the Leviasynth or want to understand how its architecture works, this deep dive Q&A will help you get the most out of it.
Whether you're a synth beginner, sound designer, or longtime Hydrasynth fan, this video explains how the Leviasynth works and what makes it one of the most powerful modern synths available.

The Weirdest Synth Architecture Ever? The Luna Lunetta Synth Explained
video upload by Starsky Carr
"The first synth I've needed the manual to understand whats going on
What happens when a synthesizer throws away the traditional signal path and replaces it with logic gates, chaotic modulation and experimental sequencing? The Neutral Labs Luna is a modern Lunetta-style synthesizer that turns digital logic into sound – and it’s one of the most unusual instruments I’ve explored.
In this video I take a deep dive into the Luna Lunetta synthesizer, exploring how it works, why its architecture is so different from traditional subtractive synths, and how you can use its oscillators, logic circuits, modulation sources and built-in sequencers to create strange, evolving patterns and glitchy electronic textures.
Lunetta synths are inspired by DIY digital logic circuits built from CMOS chips rather than classic VCO-VCF-VCA designs. The result is a unique sound world somewhere between modular synthesis, generative sequencing and experimental electronic music.
We'll explore:
• What a Lunetta synthesizer actually is
• How the Neutral Labs Luna architecture works
• Using the dual oscillators and internal 64-step sequencers
• CV, gates and creative routing possibilities
• Generative patterns, glitches and chaotic rhythms
• Why Lunetta synths sound so different from traditional analog synths
If you're interested in experimental synthesis, modular workflows, generative music, CMOS logic synths, or unusual electronic instruments, the Luna is a fascinating machine.
Whether you’re a modular user, synth enthusiast, or just curious about alternative synthesis techniques, this instrument shows how far you can push sound design when you break the normal rules."

"Classic and amazing Waldorf Q synth. It is in full working condition, ALL buttons, encoders, jacks, display, wheels etc all work like they should. No encoder skipping.. they all work. RARE to find one of these Halloween Editions.. LOVE the look so much more than the original Yellow chassis. These synths are getting VERY hard to find..the sound has always reminded me of if a PPG and an Oberheim Xpander were to merge : ) Very deep and lush sound. The pads and strings are amazing, the ambient textures and drones are superb. And of course the basses and leads are SOLID!"

Rush - Subdivisions & Countdown - Covers w/ OB-X8, Geddy Lee Model D, Taurus Pedals
video upload by Tumeni Knobs
"My cover version of Rush's Subdivisions from the Signals album. Thanks to Shadowinlight on YouTube for the excellent isolated drum and vocal tracks - and of course to Rush.
I played all guitar, bass and synths on this recording. The three synths used are the Oberheim OB-X8 and the Moog Model D (Geddy Lee version), and the Moog Taurus III. The guitar is a vintage Kramer Stagemaster Deluxe 1 running through the Fractal Audio FM9 using a tweaked Alex Lifeson preset, and a Steve Vai preset for the guitar solo. The bass is a Strandberg Boden Prog 5 running through the Tech 21 GED-2112 using Geddy's setting as described in the manual.
The animation was created in Artmatic Designer.
Cheers!"

GreyScale – A Standalone MIDI Sequencer KOSMOS Powered by Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040)
This one is in via GreyScale aka plantssystem whose videos you have likely seen on the site.
"GreyScale is a compact, self‑contained MIDI sequencer built entirely around the Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040).
Its minimal hardware footprint hides a surprisingly deep generative engine, combining Euclidean rhythm generation, step sequencing, probability control, and evolving melodic behavior.
The clean GreyScale UI provides immediate visual feedback — step activity, Euclid parameters, probability states — all rendered on a crisp LCD. A joystick and four dedicated buttons offer fast, tactile control, keeping the workflow musical and instrument‑like rather than menu‑driven.
GreyScale runs completely standalone with standard MIDI output, making it an ideal partner for hardware synths, desktop modules, or DAW setups.
Designed for spontaneity and long‑form generative performance, it encourages exploration and rewards experimentation. A small instrument with a refined feel, GreyScale blends DIY charm with a polished, modern sequencing experience."

RetroSound Studio Tour: Analog Monophonic Synthesizers
video upload by RetroSound
"Welcome to RetroSound Studio Tour: Analog Monophonic Synthesizers & Duophonic — a deep dive into legendary mono synths from the 1970s and 1980s, including rare East-Bloc classics.
In this new episode, I showcase iconic instruments such as the Minimoog, ARP Odyssey, Roland SH-101, Maxi-Korg, Sequential Circuits Pro-One, alongside Soviet and East German synthesizers like the Polivoks, Alisa 1377 and Vermona mono synths.
These analog monophonic synthesizers defined the sound of electronic music — from the fat Moog and cutting ARP to aggressive Polivoks and raw Eastern European character.
This video explores the sound and architecture of true analog mono synths built around VCO, VCF, and VCA signal paths, highlighting their distinctive basslines, lead sounds, and modulation capabilities. Eleven minutes of living, breathing, stereo drone from self-patching Eurorack modular synths
video upload by WORNG Electronics
"ACRONYM and MidSide+ are a perfect combination for patching your own deep evolving drones in stereo.
ACRONYM's fully analogue core, multiple outputs, CVable waveforms and thru-zero phase modulation make the module pulse and breathe, and doubly so when it's being modulated by another ACRONYM.
MidSide+ provides complete control of the stereo width, allowing audio-rate width modulation locked to the ACRONYM's frequency, spreading the harmonics out over the stereo field for some massively wide drones.
All audio comes from the modules seen on screen (ACRONYM, MidSide+, ACRONYM, Parallax) with no external modulation or sequencing, recorded live in a single take and with no post processing apart from adjusting the level."

The "Easel" Spirit in 3U - A West Coast Eurorack Deep Dive
video upload by Sean Graves
The following is in via Sean Graves, who had the following to say:
"The piece, 'The 'Easel' Spirit in 3U: Rebuilding a Buchla Soul in Eurorack,' documents my five-year journey to replicate the specific workflow and 'soul' of the Buchla Music Easel using a curated Eurorack system."
"This post explores the creative power of 5-step sequencing (the 'migrating downbeat'), the 'origami' of wavefolding via the Verbos Complex Oscillator, and the organic harmonic dampening of vactrol-based Low Pass Gates. It’s a technical yet accessible look at why the West Coast workflow remains the 'holy grail' for performance - based synthesis."
The full write-up follows, with a demonstration of the system in the video above.
The “Easel” Spirit in 3U: Rebuilding a Buchla Soul in Eurorack
The Buchla Music Easel is legendary. It isn’t just a synthesizer. It’s a self-contained performance ecosystem. For many of us, the “Easel” workflow is the holy grail of synthesis. However, instead of chasing original hardware, I’ve spent the past five years rebuilding its specific soul within the Eurorack format. Because everyone deserves a hobby, right?
The Chef vs. The Sculptor
Most East Coast synthesizers work like a sculptor. You start with a massive block of harmonic noise (Sawtooth or Square waves) and carve it away with a filter. The Buchla workflow is different. It’s like being a chef in your own Hell’s Kitchen. You start with basic, “bland” ingredients (sine waves) and spice them up with Frequency Modulation (FM), Amplitude Modulation (AM), your choice, and then fold until the sound sizzles.
My current rig recreates this spirit by focusing on three pillars: Uncertainty, Complex Oscillation, and the iconic Sequential Voltage Source.
Part One: The Modulators (The Brain)
In a true Easel style setup, the Tokyo Tape Music Center 5-Step Sequencer acts as the brain. While most modern sequencers favor 4-8-16-32 steps, the 5-step limitation is actually a creative superpower.

ASM Leviasynth | Sounds and Key Features | Synth Universe
video upload by Synth Universe
"A musical exploration of Leviasynth, Ashun Sound Machines’ successor to the Hydrasynth. Leviasynth is an 8 oscillator algorithmic synthesizer with analog and digital filters and five types of synthesis.
All the sounds featured in this video were created by me and are included in the Leviasynth factory presets (except Synfluctuate and PD keys which may be released by ASM as part of future banks). If you own or try out a Leviasynth, you can browse patches by sound designer and select Synth Universe to find all my sounds. Here I have often emphasized sounds that make use of the analog filter, showing the ability of Leviasynth to emulate analog synths, as this is one of the first things I want to know when assessing a hybrid synth. I also feature patches that highlight the other types of synthesis including FM and phase distortion.
This is a deep and powerful ‘monster’ of a synth and so far I have really only scratched the surface of its capabilities. There are too many features to list here so go to Ashun Sound Machines website to find out more.
Disclaimer: ASM sent me a pre-production unit for the purposes of sound design, but otherwise they had no input into the making of this video or the opinions expressed within.
No external enhancement or processing was applied to the sounds in this video: you are hearing them as output directly from the synth.
Note: Leviasynth does have a powerful arpeggiator and sequencer, but as they were still being finalized during the time I created these patches they are not featured in this video."

This 1990s Rack Synth Was a Monster: Yamaha TG77
video upload by Espen Kraft
"The Yamaha TG77, the module version of the SY77. A powerful combination of FM synthesis and Wave memory. Extremely deep and advanced. The SY77 came out in 1989 with the module the year after. Both surpassed by the SY99 the year after that.
The demo song uses none of the internal TG77 drum sounds. The 'real' electric guitars are not from the TG77 either of course. All the synth sounds and bass are from the TG77. Heavily layered, processed and mixed in the DAW. Some of the effects used on the individual patches later in the video are from external effects.
