"Ellitone Osage Modular Synthesizer System (EOMSS) system #000. This was the final prototype system built before official production began. Usually, I do not keep my prototype units around for very long. I see the destruction of prototypes as an essential part of progress, a sacrifice to the forces of forward momentum. However, this system was good enough that it deserved to survive. This system is 98% identical to the production units that followed. The ONLY real difference between this system and the later production units is the USB connection style. This system has a hard-wired USB connection that runs out of the bottom of the case. The USB connector on the back of the case itself is NOT connected here. Also, on the back of the case there is a defunct 5-pin din MIDI connector that also is not connected. Other than these minor technical differences, this system is in perfect working order and sounds truly fantastic in every way. The pcb circuity in this system is all through-hole hand assembled and includes hand-matched transistor pairs in the expo-converters. It tracks very well across 5 octaves. It has been very fun getting this system ready for sale and hearing it roar again. This modular system is something special, I know that someone out there will appreciate this opportunity to acquire something truly out of the ordinary. -ellis"

Just NerDie, a synth inspired by SOMA RoAT (Rumble of Ancient Times), played live, and the sound that comes out of it.

NerDie is an 8-bit noise synthesizer and sequencer — AAX, VST3, AU, AUv3 (iOS) and Standalone. The engine runs on integer uint8_t arithmetic at a fixed chip rate: overflow, wrap and quantization aren't simulated after the fact — they are the signal.

What you're hearing:

· 4 8-bit oscillators, 16 waveforms each, 19–1350 Hz
· 4 LFOs modulating pitch or level
· 3 mix topologies × 3 nodes × 8 algorithms = 1,536 ways to sum them
(addition, overflow, subtraction, ring mod, XOR, FM, waveshaping)
· Resonant 8-bit lowpass filter
· One-bar sequencer with overdub, master/slave clock
· CHAOS for instant chaos, drift for the slow kind, RND for a full patch
rendered and measured before it arrives — so it always plays
· 32 registers across 8 pages

· Pixel interface, two views: the panel, with hardware-style pot pickup,

I just recently came accross this one and thought it was worth sharing, if anything for the nun with the SYNTHI below. It immediately reminded me of the Every Nun Needs a SYNTHI ads. According to the article that the image is from, they formed around 1981. The article is in French and has one NSFW (not safe for work) image of a breast - fair warning if you pop it up with someone else within eyesight: [French | Googlish]. The following is the bit pertinent to synths followed by a translation of the full article. You can find the release via BandCamp above or in the article from Born Bad Records. I also wanted to post this for the way the female singer enunciates those lyrics.



"While they started out like everyone else, playing flute and acoustic guitar and listening to King Crimson, the arrival of synthesizers on the European music scene completely redefined their direction: they cut their hair, donned ties, and replaced Indian tapestries with Venetian curtains. Kraftwerk had clearly had an influence. It was around an EMS AKS synthesizer, a Roland SH101, and a Roland TR808 drum machine that the four friends gathered in their home studio to compose the carefree and joyful electronic and exotic tunes that are the hallmark of Chacha Guitry. The group thus chose to climb the sunny side of New Wave, the one taken by the B-52's or Isabelle Antena, rather than its dark side, cluttered with the heirs of Joy Division. The boys programmed the machines, while the girls created minimalist, geometric costumes using whatever materials were at hand (paper rather than fabric). Together they immortalize their youth on Polaroid, take glue and scissors to assemble photomontages in the style of their Dadaist idols."

Exploring The Genki Instruments Katla A $6K Volcanic Synth With Venus Theory

"@VenusTheory is one of the lucky people to have their hands on the @genkiinstruments Genki Instruments Katla, the Icelandic volcanic synthesizer priced around $6,000 (yes you did read that right).

As well as parts hewn out of the Icelandic Katla volcano, hence the name - it has five voices with a paraphonic architecture, individual level, waveform and octave controls for each oscillator.

The resonant filter has low pass and band pass modes, self-oscillation and a wave folder. Modulation has some unusual routings, with a 'volcano' (of course) LFO shape and a Skrida control that randomizes envelopes and levels per note.

As well as user presets it has a system which recalls patches per section, effects include reverb, analog drive and tape-style detuning, and recent firmware adds MPE.

Two classic 1980's #synthesizer recreations for less than $30? And Eurorack compatible. How...?

"A Juno-6 and DX7?"

"In this video I take a look at the AMY board: a tiny, affordable ($29) Arduino-based DIY synth module built around the open-source AMY synth library. It packs USB, an SD card slot, digital and analog audio, MIDI, and CV I/O into a board small enough to fit straight into a Eurorack case.

I go over what the board actually is and what's in the box, then jump into a MicroPython REPL to show how the AMY library's synth, voice, oscillator model works, patching up a simple sine voice, triggering notes, and using the built-in PCM/sample engine and tag-based sequencer to create a basic drum pattern. From there I install it in my Eurorack rack, run through the signal chain (MIDI in from the Hermod+, CV/audio out, self-modulation via CV), and share some closing thoughts on where it's strong, where it's limited compared to something like the Disting NT, and what I want to try next (serum-style bass patches with compression/distortion).
