"This is not an amazing ambient music jam I'm afraid, this is just some guy, playing his Solar 42 for fun. I ran my Waldorf Iridium into the Solar via the External Input jack to try it out. The Waldorf was playing an arp sequence with the latch set so it was repeating. Then I played the Solar 42F with the external input coming through and I later overdubbed some Hydra-synth for a bit of variety. I'm not modular patch pro, very much still learning my way by experimentation."

"Synapse Audio Legend HZ 'Neo-Noir Echoes' is a collection of 50 patches: 7 Arps, 6 Basses, 6 Keys, 7 Leads, 6 Pads, 6 Strings, 6 Synths, 6 Textures. The soundset is inspired by sci-fi movies, soundtracks, dystopian stories, urban landscapes, noise ambient albums, experimental modern art and sound design.
The bank spans a broad spectrum of timbres: dark, noisy, lo-fi, retro, romantic, melancholic, nostalgic, soundscapes, atmospheric, detuned, cold, distant, dull, big, massive, epic, bright, orchestral, distorted, metallic, tense, atonal, non-harmonic, fx-like, evolving, moving, sweeping.
Since Legend HZ is a replica of an old analog synthesizer, I aimed to highlight the vintage, imperfect, slightly distorted character of the sound. I used oscillators drift, saturation, and distortion in different blocks of the plugin, used noise as a sound source and as a modulation source, and used FM modulation, which can significantly distort the tone. And of course, the famous Filter Bank - it can noticeably add color to the sound.
The soundset is suitable for many genres: ambient, electronica, cinematic, retrowave, synthwave, darkwave, IDM, trip-hop, lounge, downtempo, pop, chill out, new age, trance, deep, progressive, techno, breaks, jungle, drum and bass, dub and others.
Ensure that you are using the latest software version. To add presets to the collection, open the plugin browser, click Menu in the upper left corner, then select Import Folder, and specify the folder on your computer."
"Hello HAL, do you read me? This is best listened to / viewed from beginning to the end if you want to get a good picture of the drone / ambient / cinematic journey the Solar 42 can take you on. I hope this trip to space will help you understand how this instrument can bend your mind into the 5th dimension. I knew I'd like the Solar 42 but it really clicked with me in a way I didn't expect. And I'm only scratching the surface here. And the sound.... It's seriously impressive in all aspects. The way all the voices are summed, the overdrive and fx, it's all sounding lovely.

Disclaimer 2: Some post processing was used with iZotope Ozone. Another thing I did was feeding some of the right channel to the left channel after recording. While playing this piece I created a nice stereo effect with the filters in link mode. The downside was that this was a bit too extreme, certainly for headphones so I solved that in post.

"Playing the Roland MKS-7 Super Quartet analog synth in 6-voice "whole mode" (where the Chord and Melody parts are triggered together). Patches are all made using the Ctrlr VST. I used a couple of @EspenKraft Juno 106 patches as a starting point and modified them further myself.

"At Superbooth 2024, Serge *from *Elta Music showcased the updated version of their popular Solar 42 synth, now dubbed *Solar 42F*. The main addition to this version is stereo distortion on the output, along with cosmetic updates like color-coded ports and firmware tweaks. According to *Serge*, these updates were made based on continuous refinement of the machine, with a focus on enhancing user experience. Despite not being a major overhaul, the changes are deemed very useful for users. All new Solars will be shipped in this updated version, including those with previously placed orders.
The Solar 42F features a streamlined mixer layout for easier navigation of voice volumes, along with the stereo distortion feature on the main output. The updated version will be the standard for all future shipments of the Solar 42, and with production underway, the new iteration promises to deliver an improved user experience without a price increase.
