Recreating Pink Flyod's Iconic EMS Synthi AKS Sound | Voltage Labs
video upload by Voltage Labs
"In 1973, Pink Floyd released 'The Dark Side of the Moon', one of the most influential albums of all time. The track 'On the Run' is famous for its use of the Synthi AKS, a classic London-made analog synthesizer by EMS (Electronic Music Studios).
Today I’d like to show you how to recreate the iconic sequence of that track on an EMS Synthi A, then show how to program it on a Moog Mother-32, and finally how to patch it in a Eurorack system."

Sinewave Feedback FM | Make Noise Shared System
video upload by Akihiko Matsumoto
"A textural expedition into modular synthesis
This pack is a deep dive into the sonic world of Make Noise, the Asheville-based modular synthesizer company known for redefining how musicians interact with sound.
Drawing inspiration from the vision of founder Tony Rolando, who sought to create instruments that invite play, exploration, and complexity, this collection offers sounds you cannot extract from conventional DAWs or virtual synths alone.
All material was produced entirely with Make Noise modular systems, capturing their distinctive tonal character and lively unpredictability. It is designed for electronic music producers who value raw texture, voltage-driven chaos, and intricate sound design rooted in hardware.
That is 1951 oneshots and 1059 loops, each chosen for its uniqueness and modular authenticity.
This pack is not static. All purchases include free lifetime updates. Files are continuously added over time, rewarding those who support early and stay involved. If you've already bought the pack, you now have access to the latest additions at no extra cost. If not, this is a perfect moment to jump in.
Perfect for those working in experimental club music, ambient, glitch, techno, leftfield bass, or soundtracks that need something unfamiliar yet compelling.
This is not just a sample pack. It is a collection of sonic experiments born from voltage and possibility."

Voltage Starved Compression Goodness with Hungry Thumb
video upload by Robots Are Red and Hive Mind Synthesis
"Hungry Thumb, by Modular 4 the Masses.
This is an 8-10hp Voltage Starved Compressor module with additional side chain and EQ.
Thank you to Modular 4 the Masses for providing the module for this video."

06:58 - Full Drums
09:14 - Plucky Voice
12:00 - Full Mix
HungryThumb is a Eurorack adaptation of a compressor named Engineer's Thumb, typically built as a guitar effect pedal. Juanito built an Engineer's Thumb early in the tin can synth journey, naively replicating the 9V core of the circuit, and then didn't really know what to do with it.
Until they put an 808 kick drum through it. As a kick drum processor, this compressor shines brightly, especially when the Starve settings reduces the core circuitry voltage to 9V and lower. You can get even the purest 808-style kick drum signal, which will be mostly a sine wave, to crunch, clip, gate, fizz and fold. Do you need hardstyle kicks in your modular? This can get you there.
The Engineer's Thumb this circuit is based on uses an LM13700 OTA chip as the adjustable gain portion. These chips are a bit noisy, so an innovation of Engineer's Thumb was to put the gain section in an op amp inverting feedback loop, meaning while the compressor is set to its highest gain, the OTA is set to its lowest gain, and will theoretically be creating less noise. The theory checks out, but I'm not sure how much we Eurorack people care about noise floor.

Bitweaver demo: fully analog per-bit modulation
video upload by Finegear
"Bitweaver is an 8-bit fully analog bit-crusher that sounds warm, squelchy, fuzzy, and rich. One reason is in the circuit: its ADC and DAC are built from discrete op-amps, transistors, resistors and capacitors, and the inherent imperfections of converting and reconstructing the audio signal add a squelchy character to the sound. Another source of this machine's distinctive sound texture is that Bitweaver computes bits continuously, with no sampling clock, flipping whenever the signal crosses a threshold.
Each of the 8 bits is then yours to play with, from the Most to the Least important: turn it on or off, invert it, replace it with a CV signal, or override it with the value of another bit. All bit manipulations stay harmonically related to the incoming signal, expressing the unit’s wave-shaping abilities.
From sub-audio tremolo to classic bit-crusher grit, three distinct sonic territories open up depending on where you place the sample-and-hold stage (an analog take on sample rate reduction): before the bit engine, after it, or bypassed entirely.
Bitweaver invites producers, performers, artists and musicians to a new kind of analog destruction: harmonically rich, voltage-controllable down to the single bit, and ready to meet you from the desktop or the eurorack.
For this first video-demo, we are showing Bitweaver in a playground of noisy beats. A drum-machine is sent to the Bitweaver, which comes to “crush” the mix into a warm sauce on one of the sends, sometimes joined by an extra fuzz pedal before it. (For those of you who heard it at Superbooth first, please enjoy the …clean sound!)"

Superbooth 2026 Highlights | Voltage Labs
video upload by Voltage Labs
"This year at Superbooth, we found some seriously inspiring instruments - here are a few of our highlights. Soma showed one of the most forward-thinking instruments we came across, with a truly unique interface. Richie Hawtin and Erica Synths introduced the latest Bullfrog edition: Drums.
Buchla also caught our attention with Ziggy a compact new take on their iconic West Coast sound.
Polyend is aiming high with their new analog-digital hybrid drum machine, possibly their most ambitious project yet. And one of the most fascinating discoveries for us was Tembo: a wooden drum synthesizer that looks beautiful and sounds unlike anything else.
Interesting bits and pieces:

Soma Enigma | Superbooth 2026 | Voltage Labs
video upload by Voltage Labs
"As always, SOMA continues to push a genuinely forward-thinking approach to instrument design.
With ENIGMA, traditional control disappears. No keys, no knobs, no obvious interface. Sound is shaped through the position and movement of metallic objects placed directly on its surface, turning physical interaction into sonic exploration.
What makes it compelling isn’t just the concept, but the mindset behind it: Playfulness meets precision. Randomness meets intention. Experimentation becomes composition. Rather than asking you to perform, ENIGMA invites you to listen, react, and discover.
One of the most inspiring instruments we came across this year."

Flow 3 is a filter that sounds bigger than it looks. Behind the compact 6 HP front panel lies a novel variation on the classic state variable filter topology, offering simultaneous lowpass, bandpass and highpass outputs. Core integrator saturation provides for a sound that’s clean, yet distinctive.
The resonance response is exceptionally smooth—and it can easily reach self-oscillation. In this mode, temperature-compensation and exact calibration make Flow 3 a reliable quadrature sine/cosine oscillator with tight pitch tracking.
But the ace up Flow 3’s sleeve is its auto-dynamic nature: it is a filter that can modulate itself. This is achieved by a combined decay generator/envelope follower circuit which controls the filter frequency over an adjustable range. Either fire decay envelopes from external triggers, or flip it to auto mode to follow along with the incoming signal’s amplitude envelope (or both, simultaneously).

Buchla 259e Bongo | 160 BPM
video upload by Akihiko Matsumoto
"Don Buchla’s electronic instruments can be understood as musical tools and as environments for exploration. They allow performers to play in a physical and expressive way, yet they also invite a method of working that resembles research into the behavior of voltage and timbre.
Buchla did not follow the conventions of keyboard based instruments. Instead he created systems in which sound could be shaped through touch sensitive controls, complex modulation, and freely arranged signal paths. As a result, each patch becomes both a performance setup and a place to investigate how tones, noise sources, control voltages and modulation can interact within an electronic space."

Melbourne Instruments brings Braids engine to desktop NINA analogue polysynth
“NINA has always been an absolute powerhouse of a synth, but this update is insane; OSC 3 gives you 45 Braids macros across 12 voices, plus its massive mod matrix — the range of sounds and textures you can create now knows no bounds.”
- Musician/sound designer PROTOVOLT, 2026
MELBOURNE, VIC, AUSTRALIA: Melbourne Instruments is proud to bring Mutable Instruments’ Braids engine — Emilie Gillet’s celebrated open-source macro oscillator — to its desktop NINA analogue polysynth, as of April 30…
Available as a free firmware update, all 45 Braids synthesis models run across NINA’s 12 true polyphonic voices, each shaped by a dedicated overdrive-able analogue filter. Ultimately, users can now layer Braids and analogue VCOs (Voltage Controlled Oscillators) across four multitimbral parts, morph between presets, and sequence everything.
Duly described by Mutable Instruments as a macro oscillator, Braids was a mono Eurorack module: one voice, no internal filter, and no modulation routing. It is now something else entirely on NINA, itself described as the world’s first motorised polysynth. Put it this way: when switching layers, the motorised knobs snap to new positions; morph between patches and they sweep in real time. Meanwhile, modulation routings are all visible on the panel from the moment they are selected. Surely Braids has never been this hands-on.
Digging deeper, each waveform model is shaped by two expressive parameters — Timbre and Color — adapted from the original Braids module. More meaningfully, these controls affect multiple tonal dimensions simultaneously, producing complex, evolving, and musically responsive sounds. Spanning analogue VCO emulation, vowel and formant synthesis, 2-operator FM, physical modelling of strings and wind instruments, wavetable synthesis with smooth interpolation, granular synthesis, and electronic drum simulation, the 45 models evidently elevate NINA to a new level, further cementing itself as a premium analogue polysynth powerhouse for experimental, generative, analogue, and digital synthesis.
Says musician/sound designer James Terris, ending on a high note: “I’ve always described NINA as a beautiful beast — analogue oscillators paired with its super-fat and driven analogue filter make it beastly! But while the existing wavetable oscillator adds a crystal sheen that provides a beauty, the new macro oscillator models expand this tremendously. Indeed, it can go from delicate FM, Karplus-Strong, and even vocal formant textures straight into swarming, stacked super-waves. With this update, it feels like an instant NINA ‘MK-2’!”
Excluding taxes applicable to the territory concerned, NINA is presently priced at $3,299.00 USD in North America; €3,165.00 EUR in the EU; £2,835.00 GBP in the UK; and $3,499.00 USD in Japan, while it is presently priced in Australia at $4,995.00 AU, including GST (Goods and Services Tax) — all via Melbourne Instruments’ growing global network of dealers.

Tandberg instrumentation recorder controlling a synthesizer

"This Tandberg Series 115 instrumentation recorder is a scientific logging device from the 1970s.
Voltage changes detected from scientific instruments are recorded as frequency-modulated signals to four separate tracks on ¼" magnetic tape. When the tape is played back for analysis, those same voltages can be examined - replaying the experiment.
Here we have recorded 1V/octave pitch voltages from a keyboard, and now we're replaying those same voltages into a modular synthesizer - all the sound is coming live from the synthesizer, it isn't an audio tape recording.

The day has arrived
We’re proud to present the Bree6 Keyboard, our first synthesizer with an integrated keyboard, designed and produced in Argentina for the world. 💙
Built on a six-voice analog architecture, it delivers a powerful and expressive sound engine capable of everything from solid basses and leads to rich, evolving pads. Now expanded with a built-in sequencer and advanced arpeggiator, it becomes a complete performance and composition tool.
With its one-knob-per-function interface, semi-weighted keybed with velocity and aftertouch, and fully analog signal path, the Bree6 Keyboard is designed for immediate, hands-on control—no menu diving.
Immediate Control. No Menu Diving.
The Bree6 Keyboard version is designed to deliver an immediate and intuitive hands-on experience, eliminating the need for deep menu navigation. Its interface follows a one-knob-per-function philosophy, providing direct access to all key parameters for fast and precise sound shaping.
