Pioneer DJ TORAIZ AS-1 (2017) Analog Synthesizer

"The Pioneer DJ TORAIZ AS-1 is a monophonic analog synthesizer with a 64-step sequencer and a variety of performance features. It's built on the analog engine of the Dave Smith Instruments Prophet-6 and includes 7 effects from that synth, plus a new digital distortion. It features two VCOs with multiple waveforms, two VCFs, and a 4-pole resonant low-pass filter. The AS-1 has a 13-key touch keyboard, OLED display, and various inputs and outputs including MIDI I/O and USB.

No external effects or processing were used; only the synthesizer's built-in effects were applied.

"I finally scanned in over 7700 photos of my parents and their lives. It was so nice to see them again, happy, exploring. Somewhere in there it all changed, but they still looked and seemed happy. So many times I'd see a photo and just stare at it for a few minutes, as though I'd been hit by something. Like seeing them arrive at their first motel on their honeymoon. Or seeing photos from the 70s and then the 00s when they went to the same cabin. It was clearly a world that just hung so close to me, but I never saw it. By the time I could get to know them in this capacity - they were both gone.

Now that I have my studio back - I can finally start writing music again. I pulled out the Cirklon. As you can see, I didn't use the Cirklon here. My goodness that thing just antagonizes me at every turn. I know I need to give it more time, but after two days using it, I put it away and within an hour, I had something I was enjoying making and playing.

NAMM 2025: Chordcat Groove Box by AlphaTheta's TORAIZ

"At the NAMM 2025 show, we spoke to Rin from Chordcat about their latest creation, the *Groove Box*. It allowed you to easily explore chord progressions without needing to play a piano or guitar. Rin demonstrated how you could use the 'cruiser mode' to select chords with just one finger, which made the process accessible even for those lacking music theory knowledge. The groove box supported up to eight tracks, letting you layer drums and bass effortlessly. Rin highlighted its beginner-friendly nature, making it suitable for educational environments and children. The device operated on battery power, making it truly portable and convenient for creating music anywhere.

Sound customization was possible through a library of presets, such as house organs and synth leads. Additionally, the Groove Box came with MIDI output and USB connectivity for DAW integration. Currently, the product was only available in Japan, with hopes of a US release later this year."

"Demo of the Synth Controller Edition "AS1" for the Pioneer Toraiz AS-1. Finally you have quick realtime access to all parameters of synth engine, arpeggiator and FX section. The demo shows editing on all three color layers (red: Oscillators, green: Filter & Envelopes, blue: LFO and FX) with and without background rhythms. Most probably this video only makes sense if you are already familiar with the AS-1 and want to see the concept and behaviour of the Controller. The AS-1 behaves very well when being edited remotely, no hanging notes, no lags, only Chorus rate causes some jittering. For details you can check out the manual's addendum PDF in the Stereoping Shop's Synth Controller Downloads section.0:33 red layer - editing oscillators with their modulation routing switches. The Dreadbox Darkness is a Digital True Stereo Reverb effect pedal and it is a result of our collaboration with Sinevibes.
By combining two exquisite Sinevibes Algorithms, Dreadbox team took this even further by extending the code and making these suitable for use as an effect pedal. Dreadbox favours open architecture in most of their devices, so instead of having several switched algorithms, Darkness has a single versatile and flexible formula, that can create from Small and Smooth Reflections up to Huge Shimmering and Endless Reverbs.
Technically, Darkness is a Granular Pitch Shifter, followed by the famous large Reverb found on the Typhon synthesizer and ending up to a gate generator. In addition to this, there is also a micro looper that can hold up 150ms of the input signal, in order to create a freeze effect."
