Sandy Freckle

video upload by cirtcele

"Sandy Freckle was a wonderful villain played by actor Rock Hampton in the Kath & Kim series. He was sleazy and annoying but irresistible and funny at the same time, much like this module."

via nonlinear circuits

"In Australia, there is an entrepreneur called Dick Smith who ran a chain of electronic hobby stores in the 70s and 80s (now he makes breakfast cereal). He used to publish circuit books every year (and sell kits for them), I no longer have the issue but remember the finer points of a circuit for a burp/fart generator.

It was simply 3 transistor based multivibrators running at different frequencies. The trick was that they were loosely connected by low valued resistors causing them to influence each other. This would result in unpredictable sounds that rarely repeated. Don’t expect it to actually sound like gas escaping from an orifice, think of it is a random pulse/burst generator

This version has pots to adjust the frequencies of each section and an input for turning the sound on and off rather than a switch. It can be fed gates or envelopes, which give a more gradual onset and tail as the sound starts and drops off.

Feel free to build it with whatever capacitor values you like. The ones suggested on the PCB (and heard in the demo vid) get into audible frequencies, but in some ways it is more interesting to use larger valued capacitors to get just pulses that will then ping filters and phase-shifters.

It is also interesting to feed it audio rate signals and it becomes a waveshaper/distortion module.

Icebox Arcade Fremont, Seattle WA Event Tuesday w/ Red Means Recording, Ezbot, Mike303

video upload by Red Means Recording

That just might be the first human burp featured on MATRIXSYNTH. For synthetic burps you can find a few posts here.

"This is my pizza party rack, based around the Bastl Pizza oscillator, TC Helicon Perform VE, and Roland TR-8s. I have a show coming up at the Ice Box Arcade in Seattle on July 26th with EZBOT and Mikey303 and you should come because this is what I'm doing and it's pretty fun and there are games and friends. Hope you enjoy my hot pizza sweats. Come see this live at Ice Box Arcade in Fremont on the 26th of July 2022 at 7pm if you're nasty."

The E950 Acapella Quartet

Published on Jan 17, 2016 kv3x

"Well, actually this is a single E950, recorded in one take with output through the E580. Clock is from the E102 to Brains/Pressure Points along with Rene, with CV outs from both to the E950. Audio output from the E950 goes to the E580, and Delay and Tap Outs to the WMD Multimode VCA A and B input channels. CV A is from an A-143-2 envelope and CV B is modulated from the E950 Digital Out, which also hits the Offset input of the E580.

Headphones are best, but remember, it’s just noise. :P"

Is anyone else feeling the need to burp?

Trogotronic 676 vs 666_1

YouTube Published on Apr 23, 2012 by DJjondent

"A friend of mine has asked me to compare the two modules.
So here goes.

Are they just noise machines.?
Are these musical?
Who cares??
They are handmade beasts.
If you like britney spears (no offence to B) this module is not for you.

I found that Both are really Really hard to tame.
But possibly the makers dont intend that they "behave".
In the 1st demo of the 676
Ive got a single CV signal from the Autobot (Miami acid) , duplicated and then
plugged into the OCS1 & OSC2 inputs on the 676.
I don't think its meant to track Hz/v or 1v/oct.

The other modulation inputs respond to LFOs and envelopes.
It has 5 CV inputs

Maybe a gate triggering an envelope might produce interesting results.
The 3 switches are described as normal (up) and mayhem (down).
I think this says it it all. :-)

Its Worth future experimentation if you like stepping outside the comfort zone

Beware ..the sound may be harsh for some.

I'll compare the trog 666 next

Thanks to Matt of Rhythmactive for the Trogotronic modules"

Trogotronic M666 demo

ublished on Apr 23, 2012 by DJjondent

"Ok now the 666... the number of the beast.
Im expecting the apocalypse now.

Its got 9 CV inputs.
Ive got the same single CV signal that I used with the 676.
Its from the Autobot (Miami acid) , duplicated and then
plugged into the OCS1 & OSC2 inputs.

Ive added 2 extra Cv signals from the snazzy FX.
OMG.,,, there are still 5 left unused

Lots of burp, fart and swarms of locust noises.

Thanks to Matt of Rhythmactive for the Trogotronic modules"

Reason Micro Tutorial - Live Sampling 101

YouTube via PropellerheadSW | June 30, 2010

"If it was good for Trevor Horn, The Beastie Boys, and pretty much every pioneering producer in the last 30 years... then it's good for us too. Live Sampling is back in Reason 5 and Record 1.5. But before you start pitching your burp noises up 3 octaves we thought we'd teach you the basics of the process."

Astral Blofeld by gsixtyfour
"Single Blofeld track recorded in Logic thru a mackie mixer with bass mildly turned up a notch. I used an MPC to sequence the blofeld and did all the filter play live (and a lil synth improv, I apologize for not being the best keyboardist lol). A Kaoss pad kicks in at 6:30 with the Mod.3 effect..."

Blofeld Trancience by gsixtyfour
"All synth sounds (even that deep ass bass) come from blofeld (with mild touches of EQ and reverb) each track was recorded separately, so this is not a demonstration of multimode (sorry :P) Drums are from a korg EMX. this is not finished yet, so please give me advice or criticism, i love..."

Astral Blofeld

"Single Blofeld track recorded in Logic thru a mackie mixer with bass mildly turned up a notch. I used an MPC to sequence the blofeld and did all the filter play live (and a lil synth improv, I apologize for not being the best keyboardist lol). A Kaoss pad kicks in at 6:30 with the Mod.3 effect for alil atmosphere. other than that the sound is 100% blofeld. not sure as to what the time signature is on this, i recorded it 4/4 at 90 bpm, but the echo is 1/4 120 BPM and the sequence is only 3 measures. Please excuse the audio burp at 4:11, idk what was up with that"

Additional notes via the Waldorf list:
"the first sound is just scanning the wavetrip wavetable
the second is just 2 saws with +1 detune
the third sound is a fast attack Kstrong+ i think
and the last sound is unison pulse waves"

Serge for Sale

You might have seen this one over at Analog Industries. Blogger had a major burp today so I haven't been able to put this one up until now. So... Looks like Carbon111 is selling his Serge panel. That's blasphemy in some circles. Title link takes you to more shots. I don't think the ant is included.

Details
1) ADP - 4each 1/4" to Bannana adapters
2) PRNV - A Preamp and Envelope follower, 2 linkable sections
3) PCO - Precision Oscillator with lots of modulation i/o, very stable,
linear and exponential FM available
4) RING - Ring Modulator, voltage controlable, very quiet
5) EQ - Resonant EQ, A fixed filter bank with boost, cut *and*
adjustable resonance
6) AMX - 4x1 audio mixer with 3 attenuators
7) UAP - Universal Audio Processor - dual VCA, Panner, crossfader,
voltage controlled AM
8) 2RVG - Dual Random Voltage Generator - smooth, stepped voltage and
random trigger sources (x2 of each - not linked) Voltage controllable rates.
9) QUAN - Quantiser. Either standard scale or special scales (see catalog).
10) SPRC - Scaling Processor. Voltage mixing, scaling, inverting and
attenuation, 3 sections

Send offers to carbon111 if interested. BTW, he is also selling a Polyevolver rack in very good condition for $900 + shipping.

Update via Carbon111 in the comments:

"I'm selling A Serge panel, not all of them ;)

I've still got my Animal Panel and my first custom panel...I'm basically looking to get a Serge TKB. "

Ok, there is now balance back in the world. : )
