Custom Korg MINI KP Eurorack Module From Million Machine March

via Million Machine March

"One of my favorite types of emails are from people who love their non-eurorack gear so much that they want to find out, ‘if’ it is possible to convert over to eurorack, and what would be involved in doing so. At first I was not sure if conversion of the Korg MINI KP would even be possible. I usually have to go back and forth with the inquirer and see if they can ‘carefully’ open the ‘back panel’ and look inside and see what we would be facing. I ask for a couple of pics and some measurements. Basically the main hurdle in euro conversion is the physical size of the PCB’s that are inside the synth/pedal/effect box you are trying to convert over. Yes, current use, digital functionality, midi conversion, voltage needs, among other concerns need to be addressed, but the size of the PCB’s is the most critical ‘show stopper’ that has to be addressed first!

I asked Ali a few questions about his MINI KP and the journey with it so far."

"Malekko has been churning out great Eurorack modules recently, thanks in part to Ben Davis, whose newest Quad Gate Delay is a utility for introducing funky time shifting to gate patterns and rhythms.

I am a big fan of Korg Gadget. I've made countless songs with it, as well as quite a few videos! It is an excellent app that continuously adds to its worth via updates and new gadgets. When I saw they were adding a multi layer sample player, I had to get it!

I am sure the sounds that come with it are useful, but when it comes to sample players I always wanna bring my own samples to the party. So this video simply shows the process of adding your own samples and playing around with the adjustments that are available. It's a first look, but after this, I can't wait to dive in!"

Tiptop Audio TG ONE Special Edition: Throbbing Gristle Commemorate Eurorack Module

via Tiptop Audio

"TG ONE is a special edition of the Tiptop Audio ONE module designed to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Throbbing Gristle’s groundbreaking ‘Second Annual Report’. Few bands have staked out such on original space in music that proved not only immediately provocative and illuminating, but filtered into almost every corner of electronic and popular music in the succeeding decades.

Collaborating with the band and MUTE records, the Tiptop Audio team tailored the features of the popular ONE to the sound and aesthetic of Throbbing Gristle.

Decked out in a TG color scheme of red and white on black, the design incorporates the iconic TG ‘flash’. Even the packaging sports classic cover art from ’20 Jazz Funk Greats’.

Working with long time beta-tester Chris Carter, the Tiptop R&D tweaked the ONE firmware creating two new modes: the first a random file selection on each trigger input; and the second, looping playback that randomly seeks in a sound file with each trigger. Both of these functions take TG ONE into new sonic territory.

TG ONE includes two exclusive cards of Throbbing Gristle samples curated by Chris Carter from his archive of the original Throbbing Gristle recording sessions. The files have been further reworked and revised, modified and mangled by Carter to give the user a unique Throbbing Gristle sonic palette to work wonders with while retaining the spirit of the original sources. Card one consists of 128 percussive sounds and audio snippets with the second card featuring 128 longer samples, pads and loops.
Tightly coupled with the firmware these cards are only available with the TG module.

Tiptop Audio would like to thank Paul Taylor, Daniel Miller and all at Mute for their support; and Chris Carter, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and the late Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson for their inspiration."

Live Jam #112 - Calm / Ambient / Pads - Dave Smith Mopho x4, Arturia Microbrute

"I couldn't resist a good deal on a used Mopho x4. I have been looking for a compact analog poly for a while, and prefer this one's deep architecture and textured pads. Lot's to learn. More sounds to come!"

PULScar - Waldorf Pulse + OSCar DIY Hybrid by Stereoping

CBD Computer Drums - ft. SDS8,TQ-5,JX-03,K4,PULScar

Published on Nov 15, 2017 Stereoping

Note the focus of this video from Stereoping is on his midified CRB Computer Drums. What caught my attention though was his PULScar mentioned in the second paragraph below.

"Rough testsong for a midified CRB Computer Drums. The digital part or this rare drumcomputer was completely broken and ripped off to implant a midi trigger interface bringing the analogue drumvoices back into studio life. I also added a DR-110 handclap unit as there were some trigger channels of the midi-interface left over. There's also a little article about this project on my site.

The CRB gets some backing from a Simmons SDS8. Everything sequenced by the MPC1000 with realtime mutes from a DIY midicontroller called 'MPC Muterscener' (... of course). Further gear: Yamaha TQ-5, Kawai K4, Roland JX-03 and a PULScar prototype with a dedicated Programmer. The PULScar is a hybrid of a Waldorf Pulse1 with a (still) breadboarded OSCar VCF replacing just the Pulse's ladder VCF and keeping all remaining other Pulse elements (DCOs, ENVs, LFOs, VCA, MODs). More on the PULScar soon.

Ego view camera! Despite the shaking I think it's more interesting than a fixed cam as it captures the currently important viewpoints. Hope you like it :-)"
