Midi Mapping in VCV Rack 1.0
Published on Jul 2, 2019 Omri Cohen
"One would think that the new Midi mapping feature in VCV Rack 1.0 will start and end with using an external controller and mapping it to different parameters in VCV Rack, but oh boy, this is just the beginning. Midi mapping opens a whole new world of modulation and patching that was not available before. Yes, sure, you can now map your controller to almost anything in VCV, even if it has no CV input, but you can also modulate almost anything with other modules as well, even if what you want to modulate has no CV input, and you can also record and create automation and unique modulations, and again, assign them to almost anything in VCV. So in this video, I start with mapping an external controller, and then I use the Stoermelder modules that allow us to use Midi mapping to map other modules as well.

VCV Rack Videos by Omri Cohen
The following are four of Omri Cohen's playlists covering VCV Rack. There is quite a bit here, so you might want to bookmark this post. Some of the videos have been featured here on MATRIXSYNTH in the past, but there are quite a few new ones. I thought it would be useful to have one post with all of them. Note I will be putting up new posts for future videos as well, so you don't miss them, but this will serve as a master post. P.S. You can find Omri Cohen on Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/omricohen.

C64 DCO's are three, sharing one filter. I made a backtrack with three tracks: 1: bassline, 2:extra "drums" and 3: initial sequence and "guitar". C64 runs as slave, with Pro Tools as master. They sync for start/stop, as well as for MIDI CLOCK.
Gear used:
Commodore 64 Aldi version (a bit yellowish!). SID 8580
Emu Emax II
Roland Promars MRS-2
Roland JP8000.
Backtrack originally recorded in Pro Tools (with many more instruments)"

"VC FX Bus Switch / 10-Ch Active Audio Sub-Mixer
Infusor-X lets you switch between your effects modules on the fly – in timing w/ your groove.
Plug in a signal on channel 1.
And get back 7 (active) buffered multiples of that signal.
Now send those signals to 7 of your favorite effects.
And patch your 7 effects returns into channels 2-8.
Use the Channel Select buttons to switch between the dry channel 1, and the 7 effects return channels.
Whatever channel you select, it will go to the output one-at-a-time.
Also, plug in a 0-5v control voltage to automate switching between the channels.
The CV switching breakpoints are user-programmable.
That is the SWITCHER mode.
Oh. And in MIXER mode, the Infusor-X becomes a straightforward 10-Channel Audio Sub-Mixer.
Both modes feature:
8 level sliders (-inf to +3dB gain),
8 mute / channel select buttons
8 pan pots.
A pair of auxiliary L/R inputs on channels 9/10.
Just for your favorite synth or drum machine.
And stereo output.
Infusor-X is destined to groove you.
