video upload by Gestalt Woodworks

"Showing the steps I took to totally change up my old MicroKorg, into something new and fun! I disassembled, cut in half, repainted, and reassembled the MicroKorg over a weekend of nail biting experimentation. Came back together not half bad if I can say so myself!"

"The Hohner String Performer is one of the last string machines made in Germany in the beginning of 80's. The String Performer contains individual outputs for each section, dedicated mutes, and drawbars for volumes of each sounds."

"This is such a beautiful string synth from the early 80's. Everything works great, though volume and eq balance faders are scratchy. Couple scratches on top as shown. I love doubling the piano and strings for glorious 🧀. Chorus circuit, flanger, 5 band eq. I love to sculpt the string synth sound with the eq. and then fade the full spectrum in with the mix."

"The ARP String Ensemble was manufactured by the Eminent Organ company in Holland as the Solina String Ensemble, and rebranded for sale in the US by ARP as the ARP String Ensemble SE-IV. This was the quintessential string synthesizer of the 1970’s, appearing on countless albums of all genres from Disco to Progressive Rock. The String Ensemble offers 4 polyphonic preset voices (violin, viola, trumpet, and horn) and 2 monophonic bass voices (cello and contrabass). The String Ensemble offers crescendo and sustain controls, as well as a volume control to mix in the bass voices. The String Ensemble is often copied, but never replicated due to the vintage analog BBD delay chips that give the synth its lush phasing sound. This is the 1st revision of the String Ensemble, without the switch to the right of the 49 key keybed that allows you to disable this modulation.

The synthesizer is fully working and in good physical condition (these often have rusted front panels, or dented/cracked cases). The original particle board side panels have been replaced with gorgeous hardwood panels and the pilot lamp replaced. The front panel and blocks to the left of the right of the keybed have been repainted, so the original silkscreen for the buttons is no longer present."

"An electronic jam with a bunch of Eurorack modules. Patch notes in video."

Striker 🙌 (Minilogue XD // Drumlogue + Microtubes X + Lethargy // DB01 Bassline)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I used 3 instruments with their internal sequencers for this electro / synthwave jam 😉

CHIMES: The 15-step chimes sequence is being played by the Korg Minilogue XD, hybrid (analog/digital) synth. I also used the Rerun SDK plugin from Sinevibes in order to add some random glitches on the sound.

BASS: The bass is being played by the Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline analog mono synth. I programmed a few patterns with different notes/feel. I also used the 'Accent' feature to make the sequences groove more (it can easily be heard on the intro).

DRUMS / ACID RIFF: The drums are coming from the Kord Drumlogue hybrid drum machine. It was also the opportunity to use its individual outputs (the little volume knobs don't work when using these outputs... really wish there was an easy way to fix this as the outputs are too hot for guitar pedals 😏).
The last acid-like sequence is from the Nano synth of the Drumlogue, going through the Darkglass Microtubes X (analog distortion) + Dreadbox Lethargy (analog phaser).

The DB-01 and Drumlogue Nano synth are both being ducked by the Pill Pedal (triggered by the 4 to the floor pattern of the Drumlogue).

* Hardware used *
- Korg Drumlogue: analog and digital drums, Nano synth (through Microtubes X distortion, Lethargy phaser and Pill ducking pedal).
- Korg Minilogue XD (+ Sinevibes Rerun): chimes
- Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline: bass"

The Nintendo NES MIDI Synthesizer

video upload by MrCaliforniaD

"I built this custom Nintendo NES MIDI synthesizer using a real Nintendo (Model NES-001) and a Famimimidi NES cartridge.

The Famimimidi NES cartridge is an incredibly well developped product that lets you control a Nintendo sound chip via MIDI IN. It's rare that such a product is released to the public in such a stable and complete state.

The cartridge is available for purchase (https://catskullelectronics.com/produ..., but it seems to be out of stock at the moment.

The challenge for this project was to fit everything in a 1U rackmount enclosure.

This project is a one-off, and I don't intend to build more of them. Not for sale. Sorry!"

Plutonium and PlutoniumXtra: Psychoacoustic effects from 0v1 Records

video upload by CatSynth TV

"We explore two psychoacoustic plug-ins from 0v1 Records: the Plutonium and PlutoniumXtra. These effects are meant to be felt rather than heard, and operate best on low frequency content like kick drums, bass, etc. It is recommended you listen to this video with headphones or stereo speakers with good bass response.
