Roland System 100m (Live Demo)

video upload by Brett Little

"A quite night in with the 100m. Since having a baby there has been little time to get back into the swing of things in the studio. Trying to find time when I can to enjoy the little moments like this."

7/1/26 Roland TR-909 & RE-201 + ElectroComp EML 400/401 + SDS1 + Dukane 2a76 + MIDIVERB 2 + CXM 1978

video upload by Cfpp0

"This video is shot at a more revealing angle than usual, to document the setup before we change it. When we added an EML 400/401 to our EML 200, we made custom shelves to line the three panels up on a table. But we got a great deal on a second EML 200 during the pandemic, so that got installed on a metal shelf over the first EML 200. The studio kept growing over the years, with lots of revisions on how it is all arranged, but the EML 400/401 hasn’t moved an inch. I never liked this hockey stick configuration and have always felt the EML 400/401 is a bit underutilized. This summer we’ve decided to move the 400 above the 401, creating a big EML block, so that the 400 is closer to the 200s, to the Buchla system, and so it’s easier to reach everything at once.

Anyways, the point of this patch was to use V1 on the right set of stages to reset the left set of stages. It’s a fun trick because you can control when and how often you want to reset the sequence using the sliders. The TR-909 is externally clocked by ALM Pamela’s New Workout at 130bpm. The kick and rim shot are saturated by the Dukane 2a76. The snare sound is the Simmons SDS1, triggered by the rim shot trigger output on the 909. The EML 401 filter is in high pass mode. At 0:43 I drop the kick, unmute the clap and hats, and turn off the voltage control of the envelope, which makes it sound like a goose. At 1:13 I change the TR-909 pattern and switch the routing of the lower voltages on the 400, from V4 to V3 and from V3 to V4."

'Smash the Machines' featuring Hexdrums, Nightverb & DB-01

video upload by Richard DeHove

"A one-take song featuring Hexdrums, Nightverb and a DB-01 from Erica Synths. The entire thing was played in live switching patterns on both machines. No overdubs and editing restricted to cutting it down from five minutes to about three. Of course the vocal samples were added later - they're from the 1930s movie 'Heroes for Sale'.

Routing is Hexdrums stereo out to Nightverb stereo in. The Hexdrums compressor is cranked and Nightverb is on a very aggressive gated reverb. The DB-01 is raw as you see it. There was no further processing of the sound in the DAW.

Originally I'd intended to program both machines in song mode so I could play with the sounds a bit more but had to abandon that idea because I wanted to switch off Hexdrums and play the 'reset' button. Hitting that instantly restarts the pattern quantized to the clock speed. A fun feature but not usable in song mode. I also played with the solo function which was fun, just picking out a single sound in a pattern.

Although the DB-01 seems to have a slight echo it's actually the LFO giving a little rhythmic cut to the release.

I was very tempted to start multitracking in a higher riff and EQ and distort the DB-01 but in the end raw is best."

Amazing synth in amazing condition. Every bit as awesome as the classic. Comes with original box, original manual, original power cable. Energy Field by Reductionist

via Nick Wilson of Clan Analogue: "I'm touching base about a new release from Australian electronic music collective Clan Analogue by the Melbourne artist Reductionist. I thought it might be of interest to you as a release made entirely with cheap Korg gear, specifically the Monotron, Monotron Duo and Volca Modular.

The release is a two-track single called 'Energy Field'."

From BandCamp:

[before the Big Bang and the beginning of time…]

"There was no matter. All that existed was space/time and energy. An ocean of energy, almost still but gently rippling. A near still ocean of energy filling the void." Brian Cox, Universe (BBC, 2021)

Reductionist explores the wavefolding of time and space using battery-powered technologies and microvirtuosic technique with the debut release Energy Field.

Reductionist utilises the humblest of ephemeral technologies, including battery-powered micro-instruments, forgotten music tech products, and cheap effect pedals, to express through sound the vastest concepts that we, as humans, can attempt to comprehend.

The title track is inspired by the idea of an immeasurable energy field, theorised to have existed before the Big Bang, with the entire Universe lying dormant, waiting to emerge into existence…

The new single also includes the extended companion piece “Energy Field Refolding”. Could the Universe refold into itself as an energy field once again? Humans are attracted to the idea of rebirth - perhaps we need to imagine that existence will always continue in some form.

Reductionist is the solo project for electronic music artist Nick Wilson, whose previous work has included Random Acts of Elevator Music, Darrow, Tiatto, City Frequencies and Continuum. Nick has also been the Label Manager for Australia’s longest-running electronic music collective Clan Analogue over the last twenty years. In 2025 Reductionist and multimedia artist Aday collaborated on the MacroVerse collaborative performances at the Abbotsford Convent, which were nominated for the Best In Music category at the 2025 Melbourne Fringe Awards.

“Energy Field” is the first track to be released from the forthcoming Reductionist album MacroVerse. Prepare for existence and experience Energy Field.

released June 9, 2026
