"We deal in vintage synths, so we get to play a lot of fun toys. But you already know that. So... Here's the EML Electrocomp-400 we just put up for sale. It's an analog sequencer with 2 sets of 16 faders x 3 and a built in 2 oscillator analog synth with a multimode filter and ring modulation. Enjoy, and email us anytime at minime123@onebox.com"

Yamaha IC Data Book

"Chip Pinouts for all the customer Yamaha chips, and some other generic chips (4000 series, op-amps, etc) from the Yamaha devices listed below (as well as some PA equipment which is much less exciting). One page of the index didn't scan into the book, but, they are in a sensible easy to follow order, which is clear from the cross referenced matrix of chip vs device that follows. The original book is A5, double sided, and was bound with a clip. I was able to unclip it and feed it into the multi sheet feeding scanner at work. I am very happy to be able to share this with the world, as I don't think this book would have seen much distribution outside of Yammy service circles. I'm estimating the date to be 1981, but, if anyone knows, please let me know! You can mail me directly to loscha@gmail.com, I'd love to hear from anyone who enjoyed the book, or found it really helpful or educational!

MOS-LAB 914 Filter Demo

"I would like to inform you about a new MOS-LAB module : 914 Fixed Filter Bank. It's a wonderful module, very impressive! The original Moog's 914 design uses passive cells based on inductors and capacitors; but nowadays it's too difficult to find these inductors. I had replaced the passive cells with active filters."

YouTube via LF0. sent my way via stefan.
"Terrible picture and I go on a bit - but hear me out, if you love synths you should appreciate it.
Analogue Preservation © is a 12x16inch book based on the design and ergonomics of the analogue synthesizer. It was shot on a Hasselblad phase on for optimum detail. The idea and realization was a collection of synths that reveal all the specifications in the photograph rather then being listed in text.
The book and idea is complete and copy written.
I'm in talks with a few publishers but they are not really known for this sort of book, so if you like it and know someone - here is my website - it has better quality examples.

"bad sound, bad picture I know - it was shot on a mobile, better then nothing though right???? The Yamaha CS-50 was born before the CS-80, it is half a CS-80 without a ribbon controller. Although half the size it is 1/10th the price...of course one voice is out of tune."

DSI Evolver - tweaking parameters
YouTube via Analogger.
"I just got the Dave Smith Instruments Mono Evolver Keyboard (MEK). It has some really nice sounds...what I did for this video is pick one patch and twist some knobs while the 16-step sequencer triggered away. The Evolver has some awesome analog patches, ambient textures, and cool digital hybrids. For this exercise I wanted to see how rude and agressive I could get the Evolver to sound. I zeroed in on the display screen so you could see the parameter I was tweaking and how it was affecting the sound. I wish you could hear how it sounded in stereo and thru my studio monitors...but this will at least give you a perspective on one aspect of this very versatile synth.
I included some video clips documenting various adventures I've undertaken the past few years. Much of it includes explosive devices, burning instruments, and an occasional "this is going to turn out bad" encounter with a leather clad nymphet."
Modded x0xb0x

"Mods I did:
Hardware:
- Increase Env Mod Range
- Increase Accent Range
- Increased Filter Low End
I also tried out the Bass Boost and Resonance Boost mods but I didn't lilke the sound it provided, too far from the original, so I took them out. Matter of taste i guess.

- Firmware SokkOS
(this one brings lot of new features like Loop Mode, Play backwards, Step-edit when playing in edit-mode, Pattern rotate, Save To, Pattern restart, Live Edit and many more. A must have)
Of course you can still load the original or other third party fimware via USB"

"PAiA started selling Modular Synthesizer kits in 1972 with its 2700 series. The first ones, model 2700, used buttons for keys. They were followed by the 2720 which came with a keyboard. The series 4700 modulars came next with an improved, quieter design."

A MOOG Modular Find of a Lifetime

"Hi. First time listener and caller. I joined this forum because I discovered my work had a modular moog sitting uncovered in storage. I talked my boss into letting me get that thing up and running. Today my co-worker (Jacob) and I (Drew) pulled the thing out of storage, ran an air compressor through it, set it up in an empty office, and got it up and running with no maintenance. The pots and switches are all pretty dirty, and will need to be hit with some contact cleaner, but I was able to get the two keyboards and ribbon controller running. I've never used anything like this before (I'm more of a crappy guitar player), but am looking forward to learning how to use this thing.
Here is a list of the moog's components:
2 Keyboard controllers
1 Ribbon controller
1 950 B Scale Programmer (does this tune the keyboards? I know, not really "tune," but for all intents and purposes?)
3 901 ABB Oscillator banks
3 901 VCO
2 904 4 channel mixers
2 960 sequencers
2 962 Sequential switches (no idea what these do)
2 panels of something called "Multiples" with two banks of 4 1/4" jacks. Also have no idea what this does.
2 961 interfaces (no idea about these, either)
1 914 Fixed Filter Bank
1 905 Reverb Unit
1 904 B Voltage Controlled High Pass Filter
1 904 C Filter Coupler (don't know about this one, either)
1 904 A Voltage Controlled Low Pass Filter
3 902 VCA
3 911 Envelope Generators
1 911 A Dual Trigger Delay
1 912 Envelope Follower
Trying to get the sequencer up and running, but when I assign a tone to a track, all it does is pop when the sequencer gets to that track. It's a pretty loud pop. Anyone know what might cause that? Is it just dirty?
Sorry for the long post, but a lot on information to get through. Will update with shorter posts as I figure out how to use this thing."
"It was purchased new, and if I'm reading the codes on the components right, it was made in October of '69."
"I work for the Buck Owens Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, Ca. They know exactly what they have with this thing. It took a while to get my boss to let me mess with it. They tell me that this was the second one shipped. The first one was sent to Wendy Carlos."
