Elektor Formant Modular Synthesizer

via this auction
"Elektor Formant Modular Synthesizer System very rare
Unique Opportunity
Early German 1970s

great condition custom/built Formant Modular System with keyboard it apparently came also from the very respected "martin Newcomb Synth collection " and is pictured in the Peter Forrest A to Z books

there is a fair amount of historical information on the Formant Modular on the internet a useful link is...

It has been fully restored by the synth guru at KSR ( kent spong ) each and every function configuration is

4 x VCO
2 x VCF 12db
1 X VCF 24db
1 x RFM (Resonance Filter)
2 x COM (Control and Output)
2 x LFO (Triple/Multi LFO Module) 6 LFOs in total
4 x ADSR
1 x ADSR Controller
2 x Dual VCA
1 x Noise
1 x Anlogue controller Keyboard and inter-connect cable

The specification is high and powerfull

This particular example has been very well constructed and as you can see from the pictures is in very good condition and being pure"old" analouge sounds extraordinary

Following the standard form-factor of most 1V/Oct analogue systems this Formant system would fit nicely into any existing analogues setup and being of 1970s German design offers the purist something really very special and different from the more contemporary modulars on offer these days

the recently full service by KSR is still under warranty aswell

Runs on EU voltage 220V"

Tama Techstar TS 204 Electronic Voice Module - 808 Clap

via this auction
"Tama Techstar TS 204 Electronic Voice Module. This is the very rare "Synth," drum and "Hand Clap," module in the Tech Star series, perfect for that 80's analog bass drum sound, and of course, the venerable hand-clap. This unit is truly analog, too! Trigger inputs are standard (mono) 1/4" inputs, two for each channel-one is a Roland type trigger or gate input and the other is a audio to drum trigger ( even microphones) can be used to trigger the sound. There are a total of 4 trigger inputs, 2 separate audio outs , 1 mix audio out

The analog "Synth," bass drum sound has seven knobs for adjusting the decay, modulation, tone, tuning, noise, triangle/square wave and noise levels, getting and excellent 808/909 type sound. The "Hand Clap," features reverb time and level adjustments-its an exact replica of 808 clap but with far more control"

"Looping the output of the monotron back into the input give you a simple feedback loop - going to splice more in later to get a bit of control, but in the meantime you can get an idea of how to push the filter even further!

Triangle Wave Oscillator 3 channel Synth Project

via this auction
"Here's a great 3 channel Triangle wave oscillator, onboard isolated powersupply (12vdc). The case was a new Radio Shack Video to RF converter, but I gutted it, modified the power supply to get 12 volts DC to run the 3 channel circuits inside it. As you can see in the Scope photo's, the 3 channels has thier own adjustable settings. 1, 2, and 3, outputs are RCA on the back. Switch for on/off. Nice and clean outputs. This will work great for adding LFO's to other synth's you might have or just use it to control other projects. Case is 3 x 5 7/8 x 1 3/8 inches, four rubber feet under the case. Nice and compacted. Runs on 120Vac only!!!!!!"

Hohner P100 Electronic Organ with Rhythm Section

via this auction

Cool 1970s Hohner Electronic organ. Model P100 12 voices, Vibrato is decent, but the sustain is excellent on alot of the tones.

Drum Machine with synchro start, 8 different beats, tempo slider.

Unique to this unit is the auto arpeggio which does a nice run of notes specific to the beat playing for some very funky backround music.

auto bass section with one finger chord, finger chord, memory, and bass buttons.

Unsure of the function of the lower left hand panel but it looks like some kind of ribbon control?? Marked with 7 m like it switches the chord from 7th to minor, but i could not figure it out."

Update via wim van lenthe in the comments: "it is not a ribbon control, it is for making the keyboard play a minor or sept chrod."

Runxt Life – Introduction

Runxt Life – Introduction from Firma 103 on Vimeo.

"Runxt Life is a generative music application created for the iOS® platform based on the cellular automaton theory “Conway’s Game of Life” by John Horton Conway.

The ‘game’ is a zero-player game, meaning that its evolution is determined by its initial state, requiring no further input from humans. One interacts with the Game of Life by creating an initial configuration and observing how it evolves.

You can draw single cells or a predefined pattern stamp on a two dimensional grid. This pattern will evolve according to the rules of “Conway’s Game of Life” after you press ‘play’ or ‘step forward’. Five different colors each represent a different sound or channel.

Runxt Life uses the output of the grid, affected by a few parameters, to either generate sounds or send midi notes to your computer with the help of the Runxt Life – OSC to MIDI application. In this application you can configure which color is sent to which midi channel.

Luna cube

YouTube via grandtippler | January 09, 2011 |

"http://www.etsy.com/listing/65614630/ The Luna Cube is a small hand held synth that makes a large range of electronic noises."

"The Luna Cube is a small hand held synth that uses light to make a large range of electronic noises.

The light sensor inputs allow you to get a full range of sounds very quickly, they work as fast a you can move your fingers across the sensors.

Main controls:
Pitch: the pitch control allows you to make, 127 tones and 127 white noise variations using the right hand light sensor as an input. For crazy effect use a small LED torch that has a strobe function.

Chopper: The chopper control changes the frequency of the sound up and down. The speed of these changes is dependent on left hand side light sensor. The more light that enters the sensor the faster the sound moment, until the point where sound is chopped up.

The output is via a 3.5mm stereo socket which can be plugged into earphones, a computer sound card, mixer or amplifier.

I hope that gives you a basic idea about how the Luna Cube works, if you have any questions please feel free to convo me.

Happy noise making,
RareBeasts"
