Quadnnic Deep

"Trying out the new Studio Electronics Quadnic. It's the only sound source used here. I run it thru a lowpass filter (e440) and then a hipass (polaris), then into clouds for the delay/reverb."

modular carousel

Published on Oct 3, 2014 diafragma365

"An unprocessed recording of a rather simple but musical patch on my eurorack.

It started as a test of the Scale Select Mode of the Intellijel μScale II, with the Make Noise Pressure Points & Brains used to step through a simple sequence of eight chords.

A Make Noise Maths in combination with a Doepfer S&H were used as a random arpeggiator for the organ-like sound from the Synthesis Technology Morphing Terrarium, going through the E440 VCF to the Make Noise Echophon and Erbe-Verb in order to create some room around the sound.

The rhythm for the “organ” arpeggios is somehow randomized by applying a randomized Ginkosynthese TTLFO multiplication function to a tempo from the ALM Pamela’s Workout, the basic tempo engine for this patch.

While the bass kick sound is a straight 4/4, the hi hat is triggered by a patch on the 4MS QCD, partially controlled per measure by the Make Noise Pressure Points and Brains.

This patch was a nice experiment for me to introduce some randomness in a limited musical framework of eight chords and the sound reminds me of the organ going mad with its short notes on the carousel on the fair where I used to go as a child."

Ekdahl Polygamist in there as well.

Aion, Macbeth, Synthesis Technology LPF comparison

Published on Jun 4, 2014 jakobsweb·15 videos

"As some have requested, here is a little sound comparision between 3 awesome Eurorack lowpass filters. The very new Aion 904A, Synthesis Technology E440 (MOTM) and the Macbeth Dual SV filter. Aion and SynTech have a 24db slope, the Macbeth has 12db and is a dual multimode filter. All 3 of them boast an enormous powerful very classic synthesizer sound - the kind that makes you go OMG :-)

The sound source is the Intellijel Rubicon VCO with 3 of its outputs (saw, pulse w/mod, sub) feeding the filters with a healthy dose of beafiness. Considering its price, the Aion filter is doing a tremendous job here, compared with the Macbeth which costs about three times as much, the E440 in the mid range. Given its dual outputs the Macbeth filter is the most versatile of them, esp with invertable modulation and jumper settings for resonance intensity. The E440 is a phantastic allround, always sound great filter, a touch cleaner I think than the other 2. The Aion is a downright vintage sounding filter. Outputwise it is a little weak - but add some amp and it will blow you away. The Aion has that wonderful vintage creamy coarsness (can't describe it any else)."

Filter Noise - Synthesis Technology - E440 Playing a Pattern

Published on Mar 6, 2014 ipassenger·21 videos

"3 LFOs from the Fourmulator, sample and hold on the PGH MOD Toolbox work together to create a repeating pattern. 4ms VCAM controls range of melody. Melody drives 1v/Oct in on E440 which is being pinged by one of the lfos to create triggered tones. Multilfilter joins in by FM'ing E440 and then starts copying the melody, whilst also filtering a feedback loop from the E440 Progressively descends into bad noise.

Bit of reverb from the Eventide H3000."

SynthTech E440 Discrete OTA VCF Now Shipping

"The E440 is the Euro version of the famous MOTM-440 Lowpass VCF designed using an all-discrete transistor gain stage very similar to the SSM2040 IC used in the Prophet 5 Rev 2 and the Voyetra 8. The E440 adds individual outputs for 3 of the internal filter stages, which can be combined using an external mixer to provide may different responses. Just like it's "big cousin", the E440 is temperature-compensated and 1V/Oct trimmable to track +5 octaves when used as a Sine VCO (full resonance)."

Dub Birds [New Synth Tech E440 Teaser Video]

YouTube Published on Jul 18, 2012 by JohnLRice

"This is a second "teaser" video of the new Synth Tech E440 voltage controlled low pass filter. I was experimenting with mixing the E440's three different outputs and trying different modulation sources on it and ended up using them all at once. Here's the basics of the patch:
Modcan Touch-Sequencer to 8NU8R to 1vOct input
E355 LFO 1 to FM1
E355 LFO 2 to FM2
Modcan Touch-Sequencer to E355 1v/Oct
Dixie Sine to E355 FM
Noisering to 8NU8R to VC RES
Modcan Touch-Sequencer to E350 to Audio In
4P to Unify channel 1 panned center
3P to Unify channel 2 panned left
2P to Unify channel 3 panned right

As always, thanks for watching! Hang in there, an actual demo for the E440 is coming soon . . ."

Thy Weapon Cometh

YouTube Published on Jul 16, 2012 by JohnLRice

"Once again, I started testing a new module and was having too much FUN to worry about doing a proper demo! ;-) This time it was a prototype of the new Synth Tech E440 voltage controlled low pass filter. It sounds awesome and I'm sure it will become the go-to weapon-of-choice filter in many people's eurorack modulars!!!

The E440 is used for the fat bass sound and is also multed through a WMD Geiger Counter module for the distorted doubling. (The nasal wailing distorted parts are from a Kazooka run into the mixer with a Digitech harmonizer on the insert.)"
