flightofharmony Dealers don’t wanna restock and I don’t wanna find a job yet 20% off everything sale

via flightofharmony where you'll find additional details on the sale.

"As the catchy title implies, I’m broke and need money. This means I need to get a job. I don’t want to just yet because I’d like to at least get the Facehugger control module out to beta testers before I put everything on hold for a bit, which means desperate sale time, yay! Also, it’s Summer, which means that, even though they’re largely sold out of most f(h) modules, it’s the slow time for Synthland, and dealers don’t like to restock until Fall, so this is a great chance to get some unavailable gear for a great price! Now, onwards, to the rules!

What’s covered?
Everything – which means all currently-active product lines, both modules and kits. Which means:

Facehugger – Function Generator, arpeggiator, etc. Preorder item, see note below.
Famine (1500 & 500) – Voltage-controlled power starvation module.
IMP – Noise source.
Desktop Infernal Noise Machine – Road-worthy version of the Infernal Noise Machine, see note below.
Parasite Antifilter – Hellacious distortion, fuzz, drone generator, ambience generator, drum tone source, I mean holy hell this things is fun and surprising.
Plague Bearer – Voltage-controlled Bandpass filter, distortion, the classic.
Sinner – Sine shaper and signal processor.
Sound of Shadows – Voltage controlled, chainable digital delay.
1-6-13 – Protected eurorack power distribution board
5×5 – Passthrough +5V power source, plug into any open spot on your power board and not lose the spot.

This even includes the last of the desktop Infernal Noise Machine Blood Boxes/Minimal Cases and even the Facehugger preorder, but please note the longer lead times involved on those items."

Facehugger Alpha R02 Sound of Shadows digital delay test

video upload by flightofharmony

"Requested demonstration of using the Facehugger to control a Sound of Shadows PT2399 delay module. Again, a lot of noodling and experimenting.
I have to say, that I honestly wasn't expecting much with this ne but oh boy, was I wrong. This was a LOT of fun. I really wasn't expecting a lot of what came out of this.

Some random points of interest:
1:46 Bees
2:00 They'll laugh at you
2:55 Beep boop clang
4:22 Scratch
4:42 Beat

6:29 Secret pulse (no audio input)
7:43 I broke it

Moog Sound Studio: 50 Patches for DFAM, Mother-32, Subharmonicon. + Samples. Presets Demo. No talk

video upload by Anton Anru

"Welcome to the soundset for a semi-modular system Moog Sound Studio: DFAM + Mother-32 + Subharmonicon. It is a collection of 50 patches that include basses, drums/percussion, leads, plucks, textures, FXs. There is a wide range of sound colors inside the pack: massive and gentle, aggressive and soft, bright and dull, melodic and inharmonic tones, straight and polymetric patterns.

🔮 Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/moog/

Highlights:
✅ high level of interconnection of the synths
✅ thoroughly set parameters
✅ detailed notes for patches full of tips and tricks
✅ audio examples in 4 versions: DFAM only, M-32 only, Subharmonicon only, all together
✅ to recreate these patches, you need up to 17 patch cables + splitter/multiplier («star») or a stackable cable.
✅ one of my hardest work ever, I spent up to 2,5 hours for each patch
✅ FREE BONUS: 200 samples with Scale and BPM (95-128 BPM), Wav 24/44100

The main point of the soundset is the high level of interconnection, not just syncing the synths with independent timbres (individual patches for DFAM, Mother-32, and Subharmonicon are also available on my website). In this patchbook, the timbres of the synths are soldered and can’t exist separately:
🔸 they modulate each other with LFO and Envelopes
🔸 a sequence from one synth may change parameters on others
🔸 triggers interaction, clock/rhythm, run/stop modulations break predictable patterns
🔸 audio signals from VCOs may be used as modulation sources to create harmonies/intervals or crazy experimental inharmonic tones
🔸 or they may be used just as audio sources that go to another synth to be processed with its (different) filter and envelope and get the «second life».
DFAM, M32, and SUBH play different and clear roles, it’s not a sound mess, but the synths working in close cooperation.

New England Synth Fest - Bill T Miller Synthesizer Performance @ Museum of Science Boston - 08.11.22

video upload by Bill T Miller

"Bill T Miller Synthesizer Performance @ New England Synth Fest @ Museum of Science Boston - 08.11.22. This BTM stereophonic improv performance features a CLASSIC SYNTH array... Buchla Easel Command 208-C, Korg ARP 2600, Moog Mother-32, Make Noise O-Coast and 4MS STS Sampler & Toppobrillo MiniMix.

Video Produced/Directed/Edited by Bill T Miller
Cameras: BTM & Sheri Hausey & Beth Moguel

BILL T MILLER, a chameleon of sonic exploration, is a multi-instrumentalist musician, composer, recording engineer, producer, filmmaker, photographer, artist, instrument builder and cat lover. From toy piano at two years old to starting a "band" with tennis racket guitar and trash can drums in the 60s to becoming a professional recording engineer / producer / live sound tech after graduating from College for the Recording Arts in San Francisco in 1976, his paths are always unfolding and looping. At recording college he took synthesizer courses with ARP 2600 and Emu synths and then worked (as live sound and recording engineer) in California until 1980.

Eventually ending up in Boston working as a freelance recording engineer and live sound engineer and then starting his own Headroom Recording Studios. While much of his "professional career" was devoted to recording and photographing OTHER artists, he was always working on his own weirdo music bands in the shadows. Some of these adventures include Out of Band Experience (OBE), Kings Of Feedback, Drum Army, Kings Of Slack, Zonkulator, and Orgy Of Noise with over 25 full album releases on his own DIY labels as an artist.

BTM's quest has looped back around to a nostalgic look forward incorporating ALL of the past adventures while moving sideways in time in to an unknown future think void. Living in Boston for 37 years and giving every moment to this insatiable desire to CREATE and SHARE is focus of his true path.

Forge TME - VHIKK multi oscillator voice

video upload by Forge TME

"The vhikk is a multi-algorithm experimental synth voice for eurorack. It combines wavetable oscillators, filters and delay-based effects into one module with 9 different modes."

video upload by John Schussler

"The name of the company is Forge-TME. The module is VHIKK. No, I don't know what any of that means.

The module at its most basic is an oscillator. Several, actually, merged with a variety of self modulation, feedback, and delay connections that make it look, at first glance, like an all-in-one drone.

It ends up being more than that. It tracks 1v/oct just fine, so can be a melodic, even lead oscillator voice. I start this video with the basic drone side of things, but then move over to the sequenced pattern side, which is equally interesting.

I'm not going to try to explain the module in any detail, as its structure is too complicated. You're gonna have to RTFM for that (https://forge-tme.com/vhikk/). On the upside, that complexity doesn't make it hard to use. Wiggle the knobs and lots of great stuff comes out.

Sequencer: Stochastic IG. Envelope: Zadar

00:00 Intro
00:20 Drone - no pitch
04:45 Drone - pitch up
18:28 Slow sequence
23:00 Fast sequence"

"The vhikk twists, convulses and wails in a vortex haunted, spitting dirt and dust and time and raw energy. Rapid shadows, alien physics, pulsating artefacts, sometimes ridiculous, sometimes possessed.

The vhikk is a multi-algorithm sound source capable of traversing sonic planes complex, raw, dense, electric, erratic, dynamic.

The vhikk trades total control/comprehension/repeatability for a [hopefully fertile] dialogical experience and breadth of sonic palette. It is intrinsically ephemeral and is designed to encourage exploration and presence - with low cognitive overhead.

The vhikk is happy alone but thirsty for voltages. The produced output can be quite spectrally and temporally full and doesn't necessarily require [but definitely appreciates] further processing to synthesise musically useful material.

The Vhikk is a multi-algorithm experimental synth voice specialising in [but not limited to] complex drones and basses, rich textures, and dynamic sfx. It combines sound generation and effects processing into one module with 9 different modes.

The nature of the Vhikk makes it suitable for situations where a compact, ergonomic, and self-contained sound source would be welcome - for example smaller modular systems, or large systems where a strange sound source with minimised cognitive overhead would be desirable.

The general architecture consists of a bank of wavetable oscillators [the generator] sent through a filter section which then passes into a delay-based structure [the processor] - with the specific architecture and character of these sections dependent on the selected mode.

Some of the modes implement what is referred to here as 'cluster scanning' - a smooth crossfading scan through sets of frequency/wave pairs. Imagine a wavetable scan parameter but each distinct wave position also has an associated frequency offset. In the modes implementing cluster scanning these wave/frequency offsets are different for every oscillator.

The processor in general consists of a delay-based structure which can be smoothly transformed from something resembling a delay [distinct [albeit processed] repeats] to something resembling a reverb [diffused repeats, increasing echo density, modulation].

There is a frequency shifter integrated into the processor, either post delay-structure or in the feedback loop depending on mode and FEED position.

The X jack is a signal input which is merged with the generator pre-filter and passed into the processor. The graphic in the upper middle of the panel is a level indicator for the X input."

Dirty Sounds with Gotharman's Tiny LD + Infernal Noise Machine Eurorack Synth #TTNM

video upload by THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Gosh, I'm pretty tired from this week, but I still wanted to record ... something ... with my Gotharman TinyLD granular workstation synth and Flight of Harmony's Infernal Noise Machine INM-E Eurorack noise synth ... so here is ... something :D Have a nice weekend!

INM-E audio goes into the TinyLD, where it's processed by granular sound FX and side-chain compression. The TinyLD then plays some synthesized drums, a bass line and two metallic bleeps and bloop voices. There are also two additional INM-E noodle recordings with some FoH Sound of Shadows delay going on, where I just explore around the domains more or less audibly.

I love to hear from you and talk about synths and stuff, so always feel welcome to post a comment or send me an e-mail to:

Analog Audio Tube Mayhem // SpazeDrum + Infernal Noise Machine + Trogotronic 679 #TTNM

video upload by THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Just a little LOUD AND DISTORTED Trogotronic Infernal Noise Machine SpazeDrum Sound of Shadows SOUND DESTRUCTION! WAAAGH!!! Well ... so ... I wanted to use the Flight of Harmony INM-E to process the analog Gotharman SpazeDrum output. But then I thought: "Why not step it up a notch?". So I added the Trogotronic 679 vacuum tube ... THING ... and sent the result through Flight of Harmony's Sound of Shadows delay too.

Rituals of passage, esoteric societies, initiation, are the leitmotif of this collection of sound meditations that immerse the listener in a place where time flows differently, where sound surfaces build filamentary mosaics of imperceptible passages. At each step, initiation is an ever deeper immersion into the Interiora Terrae cited by Basilio Valentino, implied in the iconology of the Mons Philosophorum. In order to welcome the light, the adept must first know the shadow, this is why the Greek μύστης were brought into the basement of the Eleusinian Temple before receiving the light of initiation: to die and resurrect. This shadows gradually thin out like a mist that evaporates, allowing us to perceive the details of an inner world that only silence can reveal.

PAiA August 1983 & 1991 Catalog Brochures

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"The August 1983 catalog is 16-pages of brand new PAiA products: guitar stomp boxes, speech synthesizers, velocity/after-touch controller, Shephard function generator and more. And, of course, the enire line up of PAiA keyboards, synths and modules, books, tapes, studio gear, analog drums and even their old original products such as wind, wind chimes and surf sound effect boxes."

"With the advent of PCs, cheap keyboards from Asia and digital synthesizers, analog was out and DX7s were in. This is often refereed to as the Dark Ages of Synthesis. This affected PAiA greatly and they went into a period of inactivity. No new products were designed from 1983-1991. When interest in vintage analog synths started to happen, PAiA started to emerge from the shadows and started to introduce new products such as the MIDI-CV PROCESSOR, PC-MIDI Interface, along with a Neural Network Analog to Digital Converter. They were still selling their Studio Series line, Guitar Effects, Curtis chips and their CEM based analog synth cards, along with books and tapes.

The 1991 catalog chronicles all of those changes and is fascinating to see what was happening as analog and DIY started to rise from the ashes, like the Phoenix. The catalog is 12-pages and isn't slick looking like previous ones."

Flight of Harmony Sound of Shadows Kit Prototype Demo

Published on Nov 1, 2019 flightofharmony

Sound of Shadows

"While testing a final prototype of the upcoming Sound of Shadows eurorack module Kit I found some really good examples of what the SoS can do, so I grabbed my phone and recorded a few minutes.

Connections:
Input is a ±5Vp-p (ish) triangle wave from my ancient Function Generator. The frequency is swept by the FG's internal ramp oscillator.
Output goes directly to studio monitors.
The blue CV input cable is from the aforementioned ramp oscillator in the FG.
Audio and video captured by my ancient Samsung Note 3.
No other equipment involved.

Apologies for the shaky video and general haphazardness, this was spur-of-the-moment.

The SoS is *not* a clean delay; that's not the point. : )"

Published on Nov 8, 2017 Marc S. Langelier

"Video Etude #1 - 'Lost In The Shadows' - Yeah, I know, I'm a week late on this one, but life is like that sometimes. What started out as an exploration of iOS 11's new screen record function, grew into a larger exploration of VegasPro 14, my own sound & video library and various audio software including AudioThing's Fog Convolver and Apps4iDevices' iPulsaret.

Featured Instruments/software: Borderlands, BoardWeevil 2015, iPulsaret, Animoog, Oscarizor, GRM Tools Evolution

Other instruments and effects: Fog Convolver, Reaktor, iDensity, Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch...

Other important software for this project: AudioShare, iFunBox, AudioBus, Aum, Sony Soundforge 11

Video sources: DJI Phantom 4, Sony NX70U, iPhone & of course an iPad

Video creation & editing software: Magix VegasPro 14

***Very importantly I must say many, many thanks to dancer Monte Jones who graciously allowed me to video him with the Phantom4 on a sunny day, some time ago.***

Note that I had also wanted to add some EWI phrases to this video sound track. As of yet I haven't recorded anything I like, so I'll post this as is for now. I'll hope to upload an updated version with some EWI soon.
It's easy to forget (I know I'm guilty of it), but if you like this video please press the like button. Thanks for taking the time to watch & listen."
