"Deep dive into the Yamaha Tenori-on hardware, with MIDI control and other tips and tricks. I also cover the TNR-i/TNR-e iOS apps and their differences from the hardware.

Then I demoed Dom Hawken's Snuggle Sounds iOS app, which is no longer available after Dom's passing, but it's a great little app that more people should see and hear.

At the end, I demoed a few random iOS music apps that I really like."

"Sorry I had a camera fixed focus issue and it's a bit fuzzy - no time to re-make the jam...

Unsure of what to remix, I grabbed some looper stems from my "all Osmose" Noisevember 22 video to mix live on Maschine+ and also added some other live bits:

- GForce Axxess synth
- Tenori-on factory drum kit in layer 16 live mode

It ran a bit long as I got carried away, but it generally repeats around 6:20...
The Axxess patch gives it a Vangelis vibe 🙂"

"Hardware Jams Weekend Challenge: From Scratch
(no pre-made seqs allowed) in C Aeolian

Timing gets a little wonky, and this is take 8, so I left it like a live concert with lots of imperfections (including the timing).
Some parts were a bit polymetric, but some polyrhythm creeps in there too. :-P

Gives it a weird time-shifted feel as parts go in and out of sync.
It might drive you a little crazy...
Working on stuff late at night has its price sometimes.

All sounds etc just from the Tenori:ON. A bit noisier than usual thanks to a dirty PSU.

Another fun Tenori-on live demo,Taiko samples played in live Solo mode (trk 16).
Drum samples were taken from this free pack:

You can hear a few phasing issues with some samples as they play together - easy to fix and re-do later, adding a master reverb to the track would be an
easy way to blend the different samples with varying reverbs into a more cohesive mix.

The massive taiko drum (probably an Okedo-daiko) is a little hot here,
I would fix its level for a future take. :-)"

"Samples come from TR-808/TR-909 drum machines. You can’t do this level of sequencing/performance on those classic drum machines.

Watch how the Tenori-on can do evolving drum patterns and more (more demos coming soon). As Nick Trikakis showed in his amazing Akai Force performance vids, the Tenori-on can be an evolving, expressive instrument after plenty of practice. Yes, I need to practice more. :-)

This video has no edits to show how it can be tweaked live to change as needed. No prerecorded/sequenced bits in this clip, but when you do mix live and sequenced bits (as well as MIDI links) the box is even more magical.

The clip is less than 10 min, but may be too long for some, so jump around as needed. Thanks."

"Amazing piece of kit. Hard to find as it’s been discontinued. MINT CONDITION only been open a handful of times. Only thing is the charger has gone missing which is only a very minor issue as its a standard DC12 charger cable which you can purchase very cheap or chances are you will already have."
