Oberheim Matrix-12 Demo

YouTube Uploaded by gstormelectro on Aug 2, 2011

This is sound demo of the Oberheim Matrix-12 synthesizer. All but two of the patches are my original creation and hopefully shows some of the ridiculously flexible sound architecture that is possible with this board. I'm playing some riffs both of my own original music and from some of the bands that have influenced me. The last bit, Intro to Gunslinger, while it is short it DID take a couple of weeks practice to get it right and is backed by a Machinedrum.

A summary of song riffs played:
G-Storm - Miranda (By The Sea)
Radiohead - All I Need
Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence
G-Storm - Cerulean Deraileur
Jimmy Van M ft. Terra Deva - bassline from Love Like Sleep
G-Storm - Spaced Out Beauty
New Order - Blue Monday
G-Storm - Aerial
808 State - breakdown from In Yer Face
Garbage - You Look So Fine
Sasha - Mr Tiddles
Go West - intro to Call Me
G-Storm - untitled track
G-Storm - Expectations (a really old unrecorded track of mine)
Spaced Out Beauty
M83 - You Appearing
Expectations
Immersion Domain - 1000 Images (I used the same Limuidz factory patch on the Xpander for that track)
Van Halen - I'll Wait (Eddie used an OB-Xa, I believe)
G-Storm - Descendant
Vangelis - Blade Runner (Opening Titles)
G-Storm - Gunslinger
G-Storm - intro to Gunslinger

Recorded via Alesis Multimix-8 and into Macbook w/ only occasional additional effects from the Multimix added for select sounds."

Francis Prève's Mattel Synsonics for Ableton

"In the pantheon of vintage analog drum machines, there's an unsung classic that isn't from a big name manufacturer like Roland or Korg, but from a toy company. Released in 1981, the Mattel Synsonics was an affordable black box that housed a fully analog kit consisting of kick, two toms, snare, cymbal and hi-hat - all playable via velocity sensitive pads."

You can find the live set on Francis Prève's site here. Be sure to see his Ableton Live label for previous sets.

Lunetta / MXR phase 90

"muttering around on the beast tonight.. through together a shift register controlled sequence using 4066 switches turning off and on oscillators fed into vactrol filters.. then the whole mix out through an MXR phase 90 pedal. I dig the pulsing created by the phasing."

Korg Monotribe VCO output mods

via Logan Erickson on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

"Center lug on the VCA pot is the VCA output... and the 3 positions on the waveform switch are the individual wave outputs. I tested these tonight.. haven't wired them up yet. but they work.. use a 150-1000 ohm resistor on each output."

Analogics Custom Sequential Circuits Pro-One

via this auction

"For sale is a very special Sequential Circuits Pro One. It has a new custom wood casing made by Analogics, including a blue illumination wheel mod and prophet 5 knob kit. The original knobs are also included. Mint condition and fully functional. Comes with original manual. The more sought after J-Wire version. Serviced last year and is fully operating at factory specs. New key bushings, calibrated, tuned, the works."

Sequential Circuits Pro-One synthesizer for sale

YouTube Uploaded by spaceboyjosh on Aug 2, 2011

"This is a demonstration of my Pro-One analog monophonic (one note at a time) synthesizer, for sale soon on eBay. I have replaced the key bushings, de-oxidized the j-wires, cleaned and lubricated the knobs and switches, and lifted a grounding wire that was causing some loud humming in the output. The result of my work is a synthesizer that is clean, reliable, and a blast to play.

First I demonstrate that all the keys work, then I play some Donna Summer on the sequencer and fool around with the oscillator sync and modulation section. This barely scratches the surface of what this synthesizer can do."
