Blade Runner Blues lead demo

Published on Aug 13, 2018 Paul Schilling

"demo of the patch I created for Arturia's CS-80V.

The Blade Runner Blues lead / harmonica patch is one of the most expressive patches Vangelis ever did on the CS-80. Among other things it features sensitive and fine-tuned velocity and aftertouch response, with quite different settings for each of the two synth lines. Since it is not directly derived from the CS-80's preset buttons, as many of his other go-to patches were, and especially because it has so many expressive nuances, it is not a straightforward patch to recreate.

After many hours of fine-tuning every possible parameter on the CS-80V3 and much A/B comparison, this is the closest I have gotten. The pad background was created with the Roland VP-03 strings to emulate Vangelis' gorgeous VP330, and some Rhodes flourishes were added."

Sbranvlztronics Arduino Clock Divider Logic Thing preview

Published on Aug 13, 2018 Sbranvlztronics

"First test of the Arduino Clock Divider Logic Thing module. The thing is driving a Roland SC55 via MIDI (drums and slap bass), and the ADSRs of two analog synth voices (VCO VCF VCA ADSR) on the Matrix II Analog Synth. Pitches for the analog synth are derived from the CV Quantizer (to the right in the video). The drum kit pieces are controlled by the 8 logic outputs from the Arduino Clock Divider Logic Thing."

Strums

Published on Aug 13, 2018 Omri Cohen

"After sharing my video on strumming in VCV Rack [below], I got a few requests to develop the last patch in the video, so here it is. I changed the bass part a bit and added some more melodies using two Palm-Loop oscillators."

Strumming in VCV Rack

Published on Aug 7, 2018 Omri Cohen

"In this video, I show a few ideas of how to achieve a strumming effect in VCV Rack. I start with using the Signal Delay module from AS, then with using Clocked from Impromptu Modular, and then with using Strummer from Nysthi.
Here are all the different patches - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1w5-..."

Too hot for a studio tour: let's make a chilled beat instead ( with Deluge and Pyramid

Published on Aug 13, 2018 Olivier Ozoux

Check out the grass! That's a refreshing setup. Nice mellow track.

"I was going to publish a video about my updated studio, but it's too hot here, the AC is broken, so I decided to publish a chilled beat to help us cooldown.

This track is based on my first jam with the Synthstrom Deluge [posted here] reworked to use the entire studio ( yes, I'll edit the tour video next )

Squarp Pyramid: sequences all the things
Synthstrom Deluge: sampled drums and percussions
MFB Tanzbar Lite: analog drums
Preen FM2: Bass and more
Waldorf Blofeld: Ambient Pads
Audiothingies MicroMonsta: Keys
Dreadbox NYX: lead ( modulated by the ANTS! LFO)
Bastl Instruments MicroGranny: vocals processed by THYME"

Introduction to Repro-5

Published on Aug 13, 2018 uheplugins

"Dan Worrall introduces Repro-5…

Repro-5 is the big brother of our monophonic Repro-1, and they are bundled together as 'Repro'. With a similar design and sonic DNA, they have a lot in common. While retaining the authentic analogue sound, Repro-5 introduces several new flavours, most notably 8-voice polyphony: Perfect for lush chords or massive unison leads!"

Roland D-05 & an old D-50 patch revisited

Published on Aug 13, 2018 DreamsOfWires

"This won't be of interest to everyone, musically or otherwise, and I tend not to go into personal details in my video descriptions, but for this one I'll make an exception: In 2011 I owned an original D-50 for a while, and some of the patches I created for it are among my earliest videos on this channel. I'd not long discovered that my father, who I lived with, had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He was only 60. It was the night before what I knew would be his final birthday and I had a blank birthday card in front of me. I thought 'what can I possibly write to a dying man?' I was too distraught to write anything. Then, for whatever reason, I switched on the D-50 and tinkered around on a patch I'd just created for it. I found the result comforting somehow, so I recorded it right there. I then uploaded a video containing that recording shortly after, and it's remained on my channel ever since.

It's quite unremarkable as a piece of music, and I never told the story behind it to anyone until now, but it's of personal value to me, and this channel has become much more personal to me since that time, both in the music I make for it, and because of the words of support and encouragement I've received on here over the last few years, so I feel able to share it. From innocent beginnings this channel has gradually become much more than I'd imagined it would.

When the D-05 was released I immediately thought of my old D-50 patches, which I'd backed up to a sysex file, and wanted to revisit them, along with this recording. I used the D-50 Librarian app on a PC back in the day, which also works with the D-05 and allowed me to upload these old patches to it. I'll make some more videos with the instrument soon I expect.

Location video is of Long Beach, CA and some other beach/pier south of LA.
Recorded into AUM on an iPad. No external effects, just pure D-05."
