"You can get a lot of info about the Elka X705 from this great site if you go to this link: http://www.combo-organ.com/Elka/#X-705

This has a lot of features once it gets going. There's 2 rows of keys and drawbars. There's a string section, also a synthesizer with a filter."

Update via Qwave in the comments: "I own one o these too. I
The Stringsection is 100% technically identical to the ELKA Rhapsody 610 http://till-kopper.de/elka.html. Only some sliders are missing. The monophonic synth is a build in ELKA Solist 505.

Jarre used one of these with some optical extras for the very first China tour to play the "Last Rhumba" live."

Very cool and rare stand alone bass pedals. Hook it up to an amp and it's ready to go. This gets a cool low octave synth sound with certain settings. I'm pretty sure it's all analog."

This is the ultimate all rounder !...it does wavetable synthesis, subtractive synthesis with a complex modulation matrix, FM synthesis , built in sequencer, drum maps , noise generator, ring modulator, comb filters !! ....it is capable of deep, fat analog-like basses, glassy pads, raspy agressive cutting sounds and anywhere in between ! YES !! ....This one has the latest software version installed (V3.02) which contains the PPG style filter !! It is the only synth that can sound both analoge and digital !! Patchable dual stereo effects which sound BEAUTIFUL ! 4 seperately editable sounds that can be stacked, brought in and out in real time performance !!

very complex sounds can be sculpted !....with seperate panning ! It has 6 outputs and the keyboard feels wonderful ! ....'Luxury feel' ! and is responsive to velocity and aftertouch with adjustable parameters for this...."

Crumar Steiner Parker Masters Touch 4 Modular Synth CV

via this auction

"This is a very rare unit that allows you to control anything which has CV inputs with your breath! It also acts as an amazing analog filter, think moog sound. It has been barely used and is in perfect physical and functional shape. You can also use the unit to control CV wiby touch with the pressure pad on the top of the unit. Comes with mouth tubes which I think could be replaced easily if you wanted to with any sort of rubber tubing the same width."

Korg MS-20 Modded

via this auction
"This MS-20 is a one of a kind, uniquely modded. Instead of a CV keyboard, it has tons of added features listed below. These mods add so much depth and flexibility. it takes the Ms-20 to another level! I've gotten sounds out of this that easily match any Arp 2600, and it can do so much more. Combine the three outputs from Osc1 into the mixer and you get insane fat bass lines like a Minimoog. Split original signal with a little reverb signal to get a stereo signal and you get some very nice space to your sound. It's incredible, especially if you have another Ms series synth to connect with it. Definitely a cool piece of gear, but I just don't have room to keep it and already have enough synths as is. Everything part of the original Ms-20 appears to be functional except the LED to the Envelope generator 2 doesn't light up when the envelope is triggered. Should be an easy fix, and doesn't effect the sound. Most mods appear to be working, though there are a couple I can't quite figure out how they work, so maybe you can figure out just what the mods do. Probably the coolest part is having another LFO to mod the lo and hi pass filters, get them going at different rates and it sounds amazing. Also of note, in the mixer section, one knob is missing, but you can still work it fine.

Here are the mods from left to right, described to the best of my ability.
- Touch sensor 1/8 inch jack.
- Midi jack. I haven't quite figured out how to use this, I believe you can trigger with midi, the little figure below the input shows it working for modulation wheel and momentary trigger
- Keyboard 1/4 jack
Touch sensor section:
- Attack release knob, positive or negative waveshape
- Decay amount
- Velocity level
- Touch press level knob, + or +/- SYM switch
Reverb section
- input balance between 1 or 2
- defeat switch
- dry out mix wet
LFO 2 section
- waveform
- frequency (w/ led indicating freq length)
1/4 inch jack modular section on the right:
- Osc1/Osc2 total out
- Osc1 triangle
- Osc1 saw
- Osc1 square/pulse
- Touch A/R
- Touch Press
- Touch Velocity
- EG2 Pos. Out
- LFO2 Triangle/Square
- Reverb 1/2
- Out
Mixer section
- 4 inputs, 1 output
- 4 inputs, 1 output
- 3 inputs, 1 output, with a switch between mix and multi function"

Silver Casio VL-10

via this auction
"(1981)
Aaaaaah, the VL-10. This is what made CASIO the best company in the 80ies world. smooth design and State-of-the-Art technology. Has only 3 very similar sounds (one sound with different envelopes) but a 100-step sequencer and the classical VL-1 rhythms (but they sound very thin). It also features 2 loudspeakers at front and back - one for the melody, one for the rhythm. Nothing but great. One of my favourites. And incredible rare, I can tell you... it took me 3 years to find one boxed!"

"This time it is a rendition of a classic track from Steven Winwood's 1982 album "Talking back to the Night". Chances are you've heard the 2004 remix "Call on me", which actually samples only a few seconds.

The vocal is recorded with Yamaha Vocaloid, of which I only have a female singer available, so please don't read too much into the song's lyrics. :)

The original track can be found here: [below]

A few boring details:
* Tempo: 116.33 bpm
* Played mostly in A major.
* Original equipment: only a Linn Drum LM-1 and a Prophet 5 (in mono/poly stack)."

Early Bob Moog - the "Max Brand Synthesizer"

YouTube via klubmoozak.

"bob moog prototype max brand synthsizer"

via Brian Kehew

"The Bob Moog Foundation have recently connected with the people working with Max Brand's early modular synth. Built in the late '60s, Brand had emigrated to America from Germany and asked Bob to design him a synth. Brand's idea was to make a Moog modular that had features of the Mixturtrautonium he had played in Germany. It took some time, but Bob created a unique synth for Brand.

Soon, there will be a CD compilation of modern artists creating music with the old Max Brand Moog. Also included will be a few of Brand's own works on the synth (1970s). I was not familiar with him before this contact, but I really think his music is among the best of the experimental-side composers of the Eletctronic Music era. It's pretty out-there, but full of good sonic ideas and he had good control of the synth, unlike a lot of early musicians."

MAX BRAND synth

"early synth built by BOB MOOG between 1967-1969 for the austrian composer MAX BRAND (1886-1980). Please note that this video is intended to show the machine - the included audio track does NOT demonstrate it's capabilities - most of the audio being heard on this video is not even from this machine! Moog Music introduces the MIDI MuRF Pattern Editor

"8 Analog Filters at your command: Moog Music introduces the MIDI MuRF Pattern Editor

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (September 28, 2009) – Since its launch in the summer of 2009, Moog’s newest Moogerfooger, the MF-105M MIDI MuRF has been an instant success. With eight analog filters under MIDI and CV control, the MIDI MuRF is one of the most powerful and flexible sound design tools around. Now for the icing on an already very sweet cake, Moog is releasing the MIDI MuRF Pattern Editor.

Available as a free download to MIDI MuRF owners, the Pattern Editor software allows players to create, modify and save their own filter sequence patterns. Its point-and-click user interface makes pattern creation a breeze and the on-screen knobs and sliders let users optimize patterns to real-world settings without taking their hand off the mouse.

The MIDI MuRF Pattern Editor provides easy access to parameters only available through MIDI CC commands and saving and storing patterns on a computer allows for an unlimited number of available variations.

“With a possible 64 steps per band and the ability to create polyrhythmic patterns, the MIDI MuRF Pattern Editor lets users tailor their patterns for a sound that’s uniquely their own” said Moog Applications Engineer, Amos Gaynes. “You can store up to 22 custom patterns at a time on the MIDI MuRF itself, so you can take your unique grooves with you anywhere.”

The MIDI MuRF is already being snapped up by guitarists, keyboardists, producers and DJs worldwide. With the new Pattern Editor they’ll be able to take their explorations further; faster and easier than ever before.

Available now as a free download
