"something new happens on this machine every time I patch it up.
the gist(language)-
4 outs/pitches from 2 different 4040 dividers running at clock audio rates feed into 4 filters which are CVd by 4 triangle LFO's- filters are also being fed random oscillator voices. Filter outputs go to a 4066 switch, controlled by 4 different Q outs from a 4094 shift register."

EML Envelope Follower

via this auction

"I was also told that this was a high quality made unit and because of it's options it's one of the better envelope followers out there. It does have it's own pre-amp and should work fine with guitars or other low level instruments. It only converts audio loudness to CV & Gate and it will not process audio directly."

PPG WAVE 2.2 360 D Wavetable Digital Synthesizer

via this auction
Update via Qwave in the comments: "There is no word in the auction (or did I skip it) about the missing pot for the display contrast. And it appears to be a very early PPG wave 2.2. You can tell this from the 4 screws with hexagon nut on the far sides of the panel. The later waves 2.2 and and all 2.3 did had the screws on the side panel going into the front panel and not the other way. Anyway: a working PPG wave is a great synth !"

Schulte Compact Phasing "A" Analog Stereo Phaser

via this auction

"This is one of the most famous effects units that were produced in the 70´s. The Compact Phasing "A" was made in Berlin by Gerhardt Schulte, and this thing was heavily used by Krautrock bands and electronic musicians not only in Germany: Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Oskar Sala, Jon Lord, Rubycon, J.M. Jarre, Pink Floyd... It´s possible to use it in a very subtle way, but it´s more interesting when you play with knobs to get more deep, dramatic and esoteric tones. This is the rare white version which i bought some years ago from the first owner. The thing is in very good condition and comes with the original footswitch. You need the switch to get the Leslie-like brake sounds as you can start and stop the LFO with it. It uses 220V power, but there´s a jumper inside that you can switch to 110V."

Three New Cynthia Modules in Five Popular Formats

"Cyndustries.com Presents Three New Cynthia® Brand Synthesizer Modules in Five Popular Formats!

Whether you desire Euro Rack, Dotcom / Moog, MOTM, FracRak, or Modcan A-Series format additions to your electronic music studio... you'll find that our modules are aesthetically, mechanically, and electrically, compatible with a multitude of products and systems from other familiar manufacturers.
The new Density Series offers a ton of functions in a really compact space, visit our site to see FOUR FILTERS, FOUR TRANSIENTS, and The OCTAL VCA.

We are committed to making the finest and most sophisticated modules possible! This is our ninth year in business and we're just getting started!

Our brand name can be found on thousands of exotic synthesizer modules in over (35) countries, and we are presently establishing an international dealer network!

Cynthia brand modules are above all unique, useful, and of course, totally fun! Get your hands on these edgy high-precision designs, and in an instant you will know the Cynthia difference!"

The Four Filters module consists of four laboratory quality multi-mode, two-pole filters with voltage controlled cutoff and variable Q. So what's so special about them? Are they a new, cool, edgy-sounding type? No. Are they warm and fuzzy and tan and chocolatey in the mid-range? No. What's so great about them is that there are four of them. A veritable busy-box of precision filters. Now you can get way more sophisticated with your spectral shaping! (After all, doing subtractive synthesis with only one filter, is like trying to do additive synthesis with only one sine wave). Now the training wheels are off!

Each filter can be either Lowpass, Bandpass, Highpass, or Notch depending on how you pull or push the MODE knobs like this:
OUT IN Lowpass
IN OUT Highpass
OUT OUT Notch

By patching the filters in series, or mixing them in parallel, you can obtain some very complex spectral shapes, some moving, and some fixed if you like.

Examples:

Use a single filter in Lowpass mode in the traditional way.
Off-load one of your super-expensive, jet-powered filters with one of these.
Use as pseudo lowpass gates.
Put two (or more) lowpass in series to get four-pole or steeper response.
Patch three or four in series (all hi-Q, Lowpass) to create a vocal tract (or any pipe)!
Mix a notch and two Bandpass to create a good string voicing filter.
Put a Lowpass and Highpass in series with tandem control to create Yamaha CS-80 sounds.
Mix four Bandpass together with LFO control to create a spectral animator!
Mix one or more Bandpass / Notch with some dry signal to create a parametric equalizer / fixed filter bank.
Multiple hi-Q filters struck with impulses makes complex percussion!
Put Lowpasses in series with staggered CV control to create a variable slope filter.
Formants, formants, formants.

And it bears repeating: Trying subtractive synthesis with only one filter, is like trying additive synthesis with only one sine wave! Maybe the search for that one really great filter is over. The answer doesn't lie in any single filter you need more! A complex, moving spectrum is what entertains the ear... Here's the tool to for you to accomplish that!"

Flame MIDI Talking Synth

via this auction
"The FLAME MIDI TALKING SYNTH is a small-sized MIDI-controlled sound module based on the analogue Speakjet ™ chip, produced by the U.S. company Magnevation LLC. Originally designed for basic artificially generated speech output in American English tongue it was then refined and further developed as an 8-bit sound module with speech-like sounds and synthetic robot voices as well as beeps, alarms, noise and retro-style sci-fi sounds. Due to the structure of the Speakjet ™ (with its complex sound synthesizer, preset sounds and serial interface) it offers an impressive range of possibilities. It contains 72 speech elements (allophones), 43 sound effects, and 12 DTM touch tones. The idea was to create sounds, patterns and sequences in the 8-bit style of the 80s or other retro sounds for making music instead of just simulating speech. Most allophones can be tuned and used tonally. The FLAME MIDI TALKING SYNTH contains two Speakjet ™ chips to produce a richer and more complex tonal variety as well as generating a pseudo stereo effect. Since the Speakjet ™ has not originally been laid out for the purpose of making music it is actually not fully controllable via MIDI input, i.e.: once sounds are triggered they cannot be directly stopped by Note Off messages from a MIDI keyboard or a sequencer. Thus a MIDI-controlled audio tremolo has been implemented in the FLAME MIDI TALKING SYNTH virtually allowing MIDI control and enabling an easier integration into a MIDI setup. The FLAME MIDI TALKING SYNTH lets you play back preset words in its EXPANDER mode via an external MIDI keyboard or a sequencer. In addition you can use the FLAME MIDI TALKING SYNTH as a stand-alone MIDI controller since all controls and joysticks send MIDI control/change data to the MIDI-OUT connector."

Ancestors on Moog 15 Modular and Nord Modular

Ancestors by Zon Vern Pyles
"This tune is the result of taking two synthesizers and a multi-track recorder out of my studio and into the living room.
I had several synthesizers at the time of this recording and wanted to improvise something using just my Nord Modular and my Moog 15.
I used a Roland VS-1680 digital recorder to capture the improv and a couple of overdubs.
While playing this, I was thinking of my diverse ancestry - primarily my Cherokee grandmother - and this is the result.
I hope you enjoy 'Ancestors.'"

via The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge
"The Nord Modular was used for several things at once - synthesized choir, pad sweep, metallic watery sound, sequences and drums (toms). I played the main theme/melody on the Moog 15. I went back and doubled the Moog 15 part with another Nord Modular overdub later. The ascending special effect near the end was Moog 15 and the descending part of that effect was Nord Modular. The delay and reverb effects are from the Roland VS-1680 recorder. Cheers! Zon"
