Oberheim OB-Xa with Encore OBXaMK MIDI Kit
via this auction
"The OBXa-MK gives you new control and expanded patch capability for your Oberheim OB-Xa. The OBXa shipped from the factory with two configurations: 32 patch or 120 patches. Now with the OBXaMK, you can store 120 patches, just like later Oberheim products. The patches can be saved with the new SYSEX capabilities. You can transfer patches to another OBXa (with an Encore kit) or a computer. This is very useful for the older synthesizers that are starting to loose patches because of the battery's age.
Maybe you never had the factory patches, or your cassette copy is bad or missing. Now you don't have to worry, because the OBXaMK has them built in! With a simple button combination, you can load the patch locations with the factory originals.
The OBXaMK allows you to control note on/off, pitchbend, filter cutoff, filter resonance, portamento and more. It can also transmit keypress information to MIDI so you can use the OBXa keyboard as a simple MIDI controller. The OBXaMK also sends and receives MIDI Tune Request. All parameter adjustment is done from the front panel, using the GROUP and PROGRAM buttons and LEDs.
Installation is very easy. There is no soldering to your OBXa circuitry. You have to remove several ICs from their sockets, mount the OBXAMK using supplied spacers, plug in a 40 PIN ribbon connector, and add MIDI jacks. (The MIDI jacks are actually the most difficult part, which lets you know how easy it is to install the OBXaMK)"

RMI Electrapiano 368x
YouTube Uploaded by nuswolloh on May 7, 2011
"A (very) rough run through of Hollow Sun's new RMI Electrapiano 368x instrument for Kontakt 4.2.2. Each 'tab' has been recorded separately and the GUI behaves just like the real thing allowing you to mix and match and combine the different sounds. There's also the multiFX which allow you to radically transform the sound from distinctly retro to modern.
The demo is of a 'work in progress' and there's still some work to be done on it. The video quality is shite, sorry, but the audio shouldn't be too bad. It will give you a taste, a flavour of it if nothing else"

Sequential Circuits Pro-One Chenrizig, Tibetan Buddha of Compassion

"Was working on my Sequential Circuits Pro-One synth last night and wanted to share a picture of the main board. It's amazing at how many easter eggs they put on it. Here is a screened image of the Chenrizig, Tibetan Buddha of Compassion. On the top is the Tibetan chant etched in solder, "Om Mani Padme Hum". Also, the CPU on every Pro-One was programmed to go through this chant in binary form every time you start the synthesizer. Why, oh why can't they make things like this anymore?"

Korg PSS-50 super section drum machine
via this auction
"SUPER SECTION PSS-50 PROGRAMMABLE SUPER SECTION
Program Your Backup Patterns and Chord Progressions - a Valuable Assistant for Practice, Recording, and Composing
It's like having your own session musicians ready to play along with your songs and arrangements.
The PSS-50 lets you program both the backing pattern (drums+bass+ strings, brass, piano, etc.) and chord progression. You can then play it back to try out different arrangements, make demo tapes, or simply practice your instrument.
The forty eight built-in backing patterns include 4, 8, and 16-beat, as well as fusion, reggae, disco, ballad, and many more. Each is amazingly realistic and has its own exciting original arrangement.
Since you arefree to arrange the three parts in each backup pattern as you like, you have a possible variety of 100,000 new and different combinations. With the song writing function you can change the backup pattern and chord progression a bar at a time (or even at every half measure for chord changes).
The PSS-50 will store eight of your songs for automatic playback. Add breaks and endings just the way you want them.
The drum section uses digital storage technology to give you real drum sounds that are a far cry from an ordinary rhythm box. Songs can be linked for continuous play or to handle longer compositions.
The tape interface permits infinite song data storage.
Other features include external input jack (for mixing with guitar, keyboard, etc.) built-in stereo effect, stereo drum output with fixed array, drum-stick lead-in, and more."

"Kandi8" - Yamaha XG Demo MIDI by JayB
Uploaded by Hanni13579 on May 7, 2011
"A little uplifting trance piece completely programmed using Yamaha's XG synthesis level 3. The sounds come from a Yamaha QY100, post-processing included only EQing and compression/limiting.
Download the MIDI here: http://www.jaybmusic.net/Upload/JAYB_KANDI8.MID
The video timing is not exact - Windows Live Movie Maker sucks in terms of precise cuts. Anyway it's the sound that counts. :D The software for the piano roll screens is Apple Logic 9."

"hardware: monome 512, monome 64, monome arc4
software: plane
I recorded this video with me talking over it, explaining things, but I liked it better without the voiceover, so I left it out.
I've always loved step sequencers and I see the monome as an opportunity to address some of the grey area between the one knob per function analog step sequencer and step sequencers with memory. The idea is to increase the available note range without sacrificing precision and increase the available sequence length range, without sacrificing direct manipulation and feedback. So, when the arc came around it seemed like a useful navigational tool to manipulate a large plane of data.
I've been referring to plane as a platform because there are a number of variations I want to implement using the underlying development. This version is optimized to serve as a control voltage source. As such, it produces a lot of outputs. The top row is step enable/disable which is typically used to fire off envelopes. Plane is generating control voltages directly. There are no intermediate bits of software or virtual instruments in-between plane and the end of the patch cords controlling the modular.
The row underneath it the playback loop ruler. Pressing anywhere in the ruler area moves the playback loop to that location. A chorded gesture changes the loop size. One section of the sequence can be edited while playback is occurring elsewhere. When the loop ruler goes off the visible edge of the grid, it lets you know in which direction the active stuff is happening.
Included is a very nice saw cloud simulation of multiple detuned oscillators with adjustable fatness which you can plug directly into your modular.
Also included is direct, accurate CV control of an oscillator via a closed-loop calibration procedure. Of course, MIDI output is also available.
This version of plane uses scale degrees and passes though my modal scale quantizer, so you can switch scales on the fly. You can also use a MIDI keyboard to transpose.
Or, it can also follow a programmed chord progression score, allowing you to improvise with a step sequencer within the harmonic framework of a lead sheet.
The bottom two encoders on the arc are serving as looping automated CV sources.
You don't have to use an arc with plane, you can navigate with the mouse or keyboard or powermate. Also, you don't need a 512 monome. All monome sizes are directly supported and can be hot swapped."
