Sound Lab Mark II Playing Anitras' Dance From Peer Gynt
YouTube Uploaded by theraywilsonshow on Feb 8, 2012
"Edvard Grieg's Anitras' Dance from Peer Gynt reallized on the Sound Lab Mark II and ULTIMATE analog synthesizers.
This is multi-track MIDI driving MIDI to CV which drives the MFOS Sound Lab Mark II and the MFOS Sound Lab ULTIMATE. The MFOS Gate and CV Distributor and MFOS Delayed Modulation Module were also used in the production. Since both synths are mono all MIDI was broken down to mono tracks (no chords allowed) and each MIDI track played through the MIDI to CV convertor/synth combination one at a time. I set each patch to what I thought sounded good in the position and I think in the end it seems to work. I tweaked and mixed and tweaked and mixed and tweaked and... I'll stop there. ALL sounds are purely from the MIDI driven synths including the triangle. I wanted it to sound analog synthetic but not too "cheesy" (you'll have to be the judge... be kind). Reverb and panning were applied during mix down. I used SONAR 8.0 Producer to mix down the tracks (well over 20 stereo). Sorry about the sucky quality of the video. I forgot to mention that I designed and built the analog synthesizers. If you want to build one go to www dot musicfromouterspace a dot and a com for free plans and reasonably priced PC boards. Hey! Working on a student or independent film and need an analog synth builder/music producer? Lets talk. You can get hold of me via my web site musicfromouterspace.com"
The push.pull spectrum from coloringpad

via coloringpad where you'll find an additional video and info. Be sure to see their other projects while there.
"The push.pull pedal is a synth effect based upon the PLL (Phase Locked Loop) IC, in which the PLL has been “unlocked” and let loose through 16 knobs, a joystick, switches, and a light controlled filter. It is hard to describe the sounds I have already heard: distorted, glitchy, fuzz, bass synth, drone, full of clicks, 8 bit, and erratic synthetic hyperdrive.
16 knobs
1 Joysick contolling four oscillators
Ocsillators intertwined in the PLL circuitry
Spectrum Controlled light modulation and filters
Filter section added
Voltage Starve
PLL Voltage Starve Oscillator
Octave divider
Strong Preamp
4 switches adding longer capacitator times and alternate routing of resistors
Mixing section for oscillators
Bright blue led pulses with PLL
Self-Oscillate Mode
Surface constructed from recycled circuit board."

GRID: Example #3: Launchpad
"A short Launchpad performance using the GRID 1.1 update.
The main performance was recorded live on a camera-phone, then further arranged and produced later.
The song was created with 3 instances of GRID providing the drums, bass and "numbers"; 3 instances of HandySynth providing the pad and arpeggio; and a little snare support from microTonic by Sonic Charge.
More information on GRID 1.1 and HandySynth can be found on the Icebreaker Audio website:

Madrona Labs Update - Featured in The Atlantic & Alex Smoke Top Ten
via the Madrona Labs newsletter:
"Hello again
Hi all, and welcome to a Madrona Labs update for February 2012.
Aalto in the news
Something *stupendous* has happened just this morning. Alex Smoke, a man whose techno records I have long held in high regard, decided to post a "top ten software tools" list for 2011. And what did he put at the top of the list? Our best and only software synth, Aalto. I feel incredibly gratified when an artist wants to spread his or her enthusiasm about something I made, unprompted by any fishing or renumeration on my part. You can see Mr. Smoke's spot-on blurb (and his other well-informed picks) at http://alexsmoke.com.
Along with other requested features, Aalto is getting a bit of a face lift soon. In working on the Soundplane client software, I've added smooth resizing code to my GUI framework, so Aalto will be resizable in version 1.3.
Soundplane progress
On the Soundplane front, there has been some cool publicity in the Atlantic magazine this week. It's a short yet thoughtful article that mentions our Soundplane along with other new instruments like the Eigenharp, titled "Why Is It So Hard for New Musical Instruments to Catch On?" Great questio---actually let's not think abut that. I have a *stupendous* new musical instrument to finish.
Brian and I have been hard at work to validate Soundplane components and proclaim them final, shippable hardware. A couple of minor bugs have been sifted out through this process, resulting in one more, hopefully final, Main Board revision. Meanwhile, our Sensor Board design has passed inspection with flying colors and is ready for manufacture.
When all this final hardware is together in one place, I'm going to make a short video showing off the capabilities of a fully-functional Soundplane, and announce the start of production. And before then, I might not be able to resist sharing a few clips of my almost-final Soundplane, because it is getting *stupendously* fun to play.
If you enjoy stupendousness, you may enjoy this
Happy blurps and wibbles,
Randy"

M-Audio Venom Sound Design Tips and Tricks - Modulation Matrix
via the M-Audio Venom blog
"In my previous posts we discussed how to get more out of Venom’s oscillators, filter, LFOs, and envelopes. Now, we’ll take a look at how all those pieces connect together. At Venom’s core is a powerful 16-route matrix that allows you to patch physical controllers and other modulation sources to destinations all over the synth engine. Making good use of these patch points is what really brings a Venom sound to life."

"See my recent video titled "JLR" [link] for more details on this patch. Basically I'm just turning on the switches of the Moon Modular 568 trigger sequencer so that it spells out simple words or symbols and then I use the resulting output.
This may get boring since it is a lot of the same, just somewhat different patterns.
Enjoy! :-)"

kORG MS20 x 2 VS NonLinear Circuits Sequencer
YouTube Uploaded by DJjondent on Feb 8, 2012
"Two Korg MS 20 synths sequenced by a NonLinear Sequencer .
Left Korg sequenced by bindubba3 - 16 stage with gate outputs for each stage.
One clock controls horizontal travel, the other controls vertical travel.
Right Korg sequenced by Bindubba1 - 4 stage sequencer with 16 control voltage outputs (CV) and 8 gate outputs that are divisions of the input clock signal from/1 to /128.
The sequencers use a 1V/octave CV and a S-trigger gate.
Korgs use Hz/V and a S-trigger gate.
Seems to work fine though."

Emulation II features a set of unique instruments to reproduce that typical music from the 80s: from warm digital sounds to the most analog-ish textures.
UVI adopted a hybrid approach to create these sounds, combining deep multi-sampling and powerful modeling tools (analog filters, LFO, envelopes, etc.), inspired by the original machine and enhanced with today most modern audio processing and script technology.
