New Tiptop Audio MIXZ Analog Mixer Module

Published on Dec 27, 2013 Tiptop .Audio·48 videos

"Patch it with no cables!!! (:"

http://tiptopaudio.com

Update: Module overview pic added below via the MIXZ page.

The key to this module: "Tiptop Bus Mix is a new method we have developed to mix audio signals through the Eurorack power buss board without patch cables, a little bit of magic, eh? Although this technique is not ideal for a low-noise mix, we found it to be useful for some applications including mixing our drum modules, which all have a Bus Mix enabled output. The result is that your drum modules are always available and mixed on the master out of the MIXZ with a flip of a switch. this will save you time and frees up cables for repatching sounds again and again, while keeping the channels of MIXZ free to bring other signals into the mix."

New Ginko Synthese VCSQ Voltage Controlled Sequencer

via Jan on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

"Soon available on www.ginkosynthese.com... the VCSQ
A voltage controlled sequencer to be controlled by the TTLFO...

What it does:
it is transforming a cv signal into a sequence; every voltage step of 0.625V gives a next step on the sequencer. It is internal connected by the TTLFO via a wire. And playing with the distort knob gives nice changes in the sequence.
If you put in a sine wave the sequence is bouncing.

We have finished the final design today and will order pcb's in the first week of januari."

Yamaha DX100 nonpreset DEMO by Pece

"Yamaha DX100 is a little oldschool synth appropriate for lo-fi, squeaky sounds, special fx, simple mellow tones. It definitely has it's own character. It's a little barking doggy and it can bite your ass. No filter, arps, effects inside so you have to be creative.

100% Yamaha DX100 sound plus:
- touch of TAL-Chorus-LX VST
- some light reverb.

All patches programmed by me. Data entry slider doesn't always respond, gotta fix it someday"

English and Spanish introduction:

Seh1tis has been created for the semi-modular analog synthesizer "Dark Energy" Mk1, of the German company Doepfer. The composition process of this piece is completely different from my previous works: there is no score; a certain room for interpretation, with a strong influence of free improvisation; the chosen musical elements are very different to the ones I used to use, and most importantly: there is a strong individualistic element as a response to the need of having a direct and tangible contact with the creation of music, and to performing it myself. This idea of performing is an essential feature that defines many characteristics of the instrumentation: despite the simplicity of the synthesizer used (a single oscillator with a filter and 2 LFOs) in seh1tis I search for a constant interaction with the instrument. All elements are generated live with the synthesizer and the two pedals, aiming to increase the impression of playing an instrument and not a machine.

The full version of the piece includes a lecture of my poem semilla (Spanish for seed) that I like to read only in live performances.

Seh1tis is the possible word for "seed" in Proto-Indo-European. It refers to the doubt experienced of those who are about to become what they're not.

Instruments used: Dark Energy, Morley volume pedal, CryBaby wah pedal.

"Vocal type sounds using MetaSynth."

http://www.uisoftware.com/MetaSynth/index.php

"MetaSynth is an award-winning electronic music and sound design studio for OS X. Its six "rooms" provide six unique environments for creating and manipulating sound. There is much more to MetaSynth than creating sound from pictures. See and hear it in action on our videos page. Take the Room Tour.

Image Synth. The Image Synth is our paradigm-smashing composition environment where you paint sound. With a host of available synthesis methods and nearly infinitely customizable microtonality, the Image Synth makes possible the sounds of your dreams. Take a quick Image Synth tour now.

Image Filter Room. The filtering counterpart of the Image Synth. Precise dynamic stereo filters that can create a limitless range of effects from the conventional to the otherworldly. Watch our introduction to the Image Filter. The examples were all created from the same source: Image Synth Example 2.

Spectrum Synth. The Spectrum Synth analyzes sounds and creates events that capture the original's harmonics which you can manipulate, filter and re-arrange to invent new sounds.

Effects Room. The effects room provides a new approach to sound effects. We provide both traditional effects like delay, reverb and chorus and a wealth of unusual effects like our granular synthesis-based Grain and Shuffler. Our unique graphic envelopes make it easy to turn "standard effects" into something special.

Sequencer Room. This is a lightweight non-MIDI sequencer where you can compose musical phrases and rhythm loops that you can render to disk, import into the Image Synth or add to your Montage Room compositions.

Montage Room. 24-track mixing environment. Use this room to mix down full-length compositions or to layer and composite the sounds you create in the other rooms. The Montage Room's single-window, modeless operation makes it a snap to use. Even if you use another digital audio workstation, you may find yourself using the Montage Room for quick assembly of your MetaSynth-created components."

"Two Z-DSP controlled by Z8000 processing drum sounds."

This video reminded me that modulars bridged the perceptual gap with effects.  Onboard effects on keyboard and desktop synths typically get viewed as extra and separate from the core synth engine.  You rarely lump them in with filters, oscillators, and mod sources.  In a modular system they are just another module and hence another integral piece of the synth engine for the given system.  Digital is also big in modular.
