Waldorf XTk Explorations 1

Published on Nov 1, 2015 matrixsynth

Set to HD for best quality. Listen on good monitors or headphones and turn it up.

Just mucking around with the Waldorf XTk. Mainly messing with wavetables. The display shows all edits. Dry to start followed by a little reverb & phaser, then dry again. All XTk. I love wavetable synths. All digital, no analog, and it sounds great.

Feel free to use and abuse anything in this video.

Moog Mother 32 (x3) Demo - Just a quickie...

"Just one more quick demo of the Mother-32 synths... didn't realize that my body covered half the screen during part of the video, sorry. (I need to find a better camera angle for these videos, but there is just no more room in my studio to do this!) Delay used was Native Instruments Replika, Reverb from Valhalla VintageVerb."

Buchla 252e 1st Patch

Published on Nov 1, 2015 Todd Barton

"First of all, sorry for the poor flipcam image and sound but thought there might be some of you out there that would like to see/hear this. This patch was suggested by Alex Sifre at BEMI. All 11 rings are programmed via the Euclidean generator. There are 3 independent clock synchronized 'on cycle'. An array of Pulses and CVs from a 281e are randomly selecting which 3 rings to play, hence the changing rhythmic patterns.

There are a million more subtle things to do with this and I know my colleagues will be exploring them soon. Also, I will be posting little video manual techniques over the next week. Stay tuned."

"Drone meets glitch meets weird percussion.

Drone: Verbos Harmonic Oscillator (with tilt and individual harmonics mosulated by LFOs) via Serge Resonant EQ into both Erbe Verb (for clean shimmer effects) and Tyme Sefari Mk II and Demora (for glitched drone). The TSII's loop end is occasionally changed by a Function envelope (and this goes a bit mad when I switch to cycle mode for a while), while Sound of Thunder's pitch input is regularly modulated to pitch the result up an octave. A slow Moskwa sequence modulates Demora's Width to bring in more rapid ping-pong delays at times, while an LFO subtly modulates the Erbe Verb size parameter.

Drums: Pittsburgh Generator through Optomix into Pittsburgh Dual VCA; Maths envelope drives Generator 1 pitch and VCA. Verbos Voltage Multistage Gate Out triggers Maths, while CV A modified Maths envelope length and CV B modifies Generator's Index.

Hi-hat-like percussion: white noise into Pittsburgh Filter; HP out into Optomix. Rhythmic patterns created by A160/161/166 used to strike Optomix and modified Filter cutoff; Dreamboat Gate out modulates Filter Q.

Both drums and percussion go into a Vox DelayLab for rhythmic delays."

You can also use this combo to interface 2-way with software running on a PC/Mac so integration with a DAW becomes an interesting possibility."

Moog The Source Vintage Analog Synth with Kenton Midi

"Up for sale is my cherished Moog Source analog synthesizer with Kenton midi kit installed. The Moog works perfectly and sounds fantastic. The panel has been replaced and has since seen hardly any use as I operate the synth over midi and have my favourite patches saved. Has simple but great onboard sequencer and sweet arpeggiator. Can save 64 patches (from memory...I could be wrong about that number but something like that).

This top class Moog was a replacement for the Minimoog and has been used on countless productions since it's debut in the 80's. Pure Moog tone and becoming quickly collectable as more musicians get onto the real vintage Moog sound that is lacking in later instruments. Comes with printed user guide and Kenton midi guide..."

Roland Boutique Medley JP-08 JU-06 JX-03 and Roland AIRA range

Published on Nov 1, 2015 space travel made easy

"*Please note this is not a product run-through or showcase, it is a video compilation of short clips from a product demo where we got to jam with the range*

Got a chance to play with the Boutique range from Roland this afternoon along with all Aira range. The Roland JP-08, Roland JU-06 and the JX-03 are all really capable little synths and great remakes of the old classics. Could not believe the sound coming through the studio monitors from these little boxes.

The Roland Boutique range was plugged into the Roland MX-1 along with all the other recent Roland Aira gear. The Roland TR-8 was providing the drums. The MX-1 has some awesome effects (and beat effects) that can be thrown into the mix either on the output or on individual channels. The Roland TB-3 is more than capable of beautiful basslines reminiscent of the old Roland TB-303.

We got a little taste of the Aira Modular pieces. Didn't get to hear the System-1m but had sends from the Roland MX-1 going through the programmable effects units the Roland Bitrazer, Roland Demora, Roland Scooper and the Roland Torcido.

Thanks to Dan from Roland for showing us everything and putting up with a number of synths being played with at the same time. His poor ears.

This video was filmed in my iPhone so apologies for the poor quality audio but it gives you a good idea of what these new Boutique boxes are capable of.

I will post more shorter videos on my Instagram account. Search for stme.music on Instagram.

Thoroughly recommend the Roland Boutique range. Well made and sound better than you would ever believe."

Oberheim Two Voice Pro Demo

Published on Oct 31, 2015 kpsiegel

"I just got my Oberheim Two Voice Pro yesterday and decided to jam out with the sequencer and a basic backing drum track to demo it.

There are NO effects at all on the synth. No EQ, compression, reverb, or anything. I patched the filter cutoff to the mod wheel and also the pulse width of oscillator 1 of SEM B to the mod wheel. The sequence was 13 beats and then 11 beats at times.

I switch between normal LP and HP filtering and BP filtering during this so you can get an idea of how that sounds. The whole thing was clocked to my Sync Gen Pro II. All rock solid.

It may look like I am out of sync in the very beginning when my finger goes down on a key and no sound comes out. That is just because I touched the key while the metronome count in was still going so the midi clock had not started yet to get the sequencer going. Trust me, it is all in sync with the audio recorded directly into my DAW."
