Extremely Rare Vintage Ionic Performer Analog Synth for Sale

via this auction

Essentially an EMS SYNTHI in keyboard format. These are rare. You can see video of one here. See the Ionic label at the bottom of this post for more.

Via the listing: "This is a very rare vintage analog synth with internal click button patch matrix. 4 on board oscillators, with one that can act as an independent modulator. multiple wave forms. one low pass filter bank, that can also be converted to high pass. ring modulator, XY axis for alternative parameter settings on the fly. built in spring reverb, also on right keyboard panel are other effects as well. one ADSR, white noise generator. the keyboard oscillator can act tonally independent of the panel oscillators. Connection on back panel for connection to external sequencer. Has built in speakers, but can be connected to external sources as well. On back panel a modification was built to access external sequencer and disable the function of oscillator tracking. Synth comes in its own case with mint condition chrome legs that screw on bottom of case. Unit turns on but there seems to be a key stuck inside transverse bus bar that can be easily fixed. Otherwise is in excellent condition - all knobs in tact and the unit itself has no scratches and the metal face has no real signs of wear. Buyer must pay for shipping. Winning bidder will receive custom made sequencer built especially for this unit."

0-Coast Patch of the Week #12: Shepard's Pie

Published on May 10, 2017 MAKEN0ISE

"This is an advanced patch recipe. Check the Patch of the Week playlist for many patches that are easier to duplicate, and easier to use as building blocks or jumping-off points.

Patch discovered by Jake Pugh

By carefully tuning the frequency of our modulation sources, it’s possible to modulate the VCO frequency, and the harmonics it contains, in such a way that the two simultaneous modulations drift in and out of phase with each other. If the modulations are happening in opposite directions, it can create the aural illusion of upward and downward movement happening at the same time."

INTELLIJEL uSCALE II TUTORIAL ~ Eurorack quantizer module

Published on May 10, 2017 once upon a synth

"This is a tutorial of the Intellijel uScale II eurorack module. This is a quantizer module which has two outputs that allow you to generate musical harmonies. It also features a shift CV input which can be assigned to different destinations. In general it allows you to shift notes using CV. In this video I'm using the Kilpatrick Phenol as a sound source (off camera). I use the Make Noise Maths and Korg SQ-1 as CV sources for both the note pitch and the Shift CV input. The uScale II can behave as a standard quantizer if you ignore the menu section. The menus provide control over how the Shift input behaves as well as settings the Output B interval, root note, managing scales and banks and clearing the scale. It's a pretty fun little module because it can take any kind of whacky voltage signal and turn it into something musical and inspiring."

PPG Wave 2.3 Wavetable Synth

via this auction

"PPG Wave 2.3 is nice condition but has no audio output. Cosmetically it looks great with just some light scratches on the top. It powers up and appears to function ok. All the knobs seem to work (I can turn them and see values change on the display). Display looks great. I just can't figure out how to get any sound out of it. It does appear to be sending MIDI signals fine, as I was able to play another synth using the PPG. I'm hoping someone can breathe some new life into this guy. I bought it locally from the original owner. I was planning to repair it but it's been sitting in its case for a year and I've just got too many projects. I'm moving soon so I really need to downsize.

It comes with two additional processor boards (plus there's one in the basically you're getting three). I did try each processor board but I still couldn't get any sound output. Also comes with a handful of cassette backups (not pictured), and a custom flight-case that fits it very nicely. Between the flight case and the synth, this is very heavy. Local pick up in Chicago is fine. Otherwise, shipping is going to likely be somewhat high. As-is."

Cocoquantus - sound of quantussy (and iron cross)

Published on May 10, 2017 hajimmie

"I'm experimenting how I can incorporate the 'iron cross' out to other things. Left coco is its iron cross sound which is like pipe organ timbre and the right coco is one of the oscillators' of Quantussy. Modulation possibility is almost overwhelming and until I get quite an idea of their interaction it will remain somewhat unpredictable..."

PSE warning: there is quite a bit of flashing in this video.

"With STEPS you can control any MIDI compatible app, send MIDI over the network to your laptop or any other compatible device, and even synchronize external hardware analog synths such as Korg Volcas or Pocket Operators via an audio cable.

Get the app here:

In this video:

STEPS is controlling the synchronisation of the KORG Volca Sample through the audio output of the iPhone, then from the sync output of the Volca we send the same signal to sync the Pocket Operators and we are also sending MIDI through an external hardware MIDI interface ( iConnectMIDI 2+) and controlling the first channel of the Volca Sample."

MS-20 is running into the Strymon DIG, though its doing more stereo width than any sort of effect. Quick n simple. Just really liked how the Odyssey sounded through the Bluesky and wanted to capture this moment before I shut everything down for the night!"
