Future Retro Vectra Rippin' Sounds

video upload by FutureRetroSynths

"All sounds in this video were recorded directly from the Future Retro Vectra Synthesizer. No additional EQ, Compression, or Effects were used. These sounds contain low frequency content, listen with a subwoofer to appreciate.

It's interesting to note that while the Vectra does not have a built in distortion stage as many of our other products are well known for, the Vectra's oscillators are powerful enough to synthesize many different forms of distortion all by themselves using our one-of-a-kind Phase-Slice modes.

This video highlights quite a few of these more aggressive sounds, most of which will use only one or two oscillators.

Some of the new complex vector synthesis patches sound amazing.

Enjoy!"

Illumination In the Final Dark Age (Floydian Gothic Cinematic LP) by James Newman

New release from supporting member, James Newman.

"'Illumination in the Final Dark Age' is my musical reflection upon the times that we are now living. It seems ironic that with all of our technology that this would be the case, but yet here we find ourselves.

These songs are a result and response to the cultures of the world being under a strong deluding influence that has darkened the mind of reason, logic, and truth.

Though this is indeed a new dark age, it will be the final one...for a great light is coming, and will illuminate the whole world.

John 8:12 ...“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Matthew 6:22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness, how deep is that darkness!

Zechariah 14: 6 On that day there will be no light; the luminaries will die out. 7For it will be a unique day which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at the time of evening there will be light.

New Kodamo INFINi Keyboard Synthesizer & Bitmasker Desktop Synth in the Works

New keyboard synthesizer coming from Kodamo, makers of EssenceFM.

Note the Formants and Bit Masks on the right. It also appears to have a sequencer with overdubs.

And Bitmasker:

"New 3D render for the Bitmasker! Do you like it? Sound engine is still in development. With fully editable sounds and a 256-step polyphonic sequencer, you can use it to make music on the go or to add a new variety of sounds to your setup.

Each voice is made of two 'bitmasked oscillators'which produce very rich tones. They have independent envelopes and can be filtered by a resonant multimode filter. Then you get two LFOs which can alter almost any characteristic of the sound, several stereo effects and a fun little arpeggiator.

Black buttons can play different scales, and editing sounds is easy by turning only two knobs.

The Bitmasker won't be released before 2022, we're sorry for the delays. We want to make sure it's well polished before it reaches your hands!"

"This is a grail of a synth right here. The Yamaha Sk series are a masterpiece where a poly synth, mono synth, organ, and strings combine on one machine. I have created so many sick songs on this synth and have to part with it due to relocation. There are scratches on the front panel paint but given it’s from the late 70s it’s in great condition. All of the components still work, only issue is a bad slider for the lower organ volume so it is stuck at one volume setting. It is an easy fix, I will ship at the buyers expense. This synth comes with original 4 legs and custom made road case from encore cases so shipping will be no problem."

How to use FILL on Digitakt & Digitone

video upload by Avrilcadabra

"Hi, should be all you need to know to start using FILL

There are two types of FILL in the digitakt, one has a Line and one does not, the one with the line is NOT FILL and is referred to as NOT FILL in this video, it does the opposite of the FILL, a trigger set to NOT FILL will only be active when the PAGE button is not being held.

If you want to go further than shown in this video, remember you can use FILL on anything not just notes, a more advanced thing to try would be when using trigless trigs to do modulation, you could set these to FILL so an LFO is only active when holding PAGE. "

Subterranean Commute || Ambient Eurorack Modular Synthesizer + Moog Semi-Modulars

video upload by Sam Kyzivat

"The year is 2130, and major cities have begun moving underground. Those who can afford it have followed. For the rest of us, a 30-floor long, 100-foot wide escalator commute starts and ends each day. The overhead lights have been expertly tuned to mimic the sunrise, and the transition from natural to artificial light is hardly detectable. As you descend, you close your eyes and mentally hit shuffle on a curated playlist of 6 minute long ambient tracks (the exact length of the trip) and a track called 'Subterranean Commute' starts playing. You didn't sleep well last night — the ceaseless low frequency rumbles from underground construction don't seem to bother anyone but you. The music fills your head and you immediately feel the tension in your shoulders relax. The algorithm has chosen well. You look around you at the sea of heads, some gently bobbing, some motionless, a scattering of head-bangers, and wonder what everyone else is listening to...

Patch notes:

RINGS, in modal resonator mode with two-note polyphony, is receiving gate and pitch CV from an arpeggio on the KEYSTEP PRO that's playing back randomly. The output is going into BEADS for clocked grain generation, which is creating a quasi-contrapuntal melody to the input material.

MOTHER-32 is receiving gate (Euclidean rhythm) and pitch CV (quantized random) from PAM's, with its internal LFO modulating the filter cutoff. It's also sending noise into RIPPLES for filtering (more apparent in the second half of the track).

DFAM, with a short VCA decay, is receiving somewhat erratic triggers from PAM's Euclidean rhythm via MOTHER-32.

STO is receiving random pitch CV from NOISE TOOLS' sample & hold circuit, quantized and offset by the DISTING EX. The sine wave output is then going into a VCA with every third pulse receiving an envelope from PAM's, giving some variation as the sound goes from a sustained note to a pluckier sound. The output is then sent to MAGNETO for tape delay.

PLAITS is in the two operator FM mode, receiving pitch CV from MARBLES, and then going to KAMIENIEC for subtle phase shifting, before heading to its penultimate destination: DATA BENDER for glitchiness followed by a VCA with a relatively slow LFO bringing it in and out of the mix."

ROLAND JD-800 - Roland Cloud Plugin VST

video upload by Mamotreco

"This Roland Cloud version of the Roland JD-800 synth is a VST recreation of an early 90s legend that brought together cutting edge digital synthesis and an eye-catching control scheme that put a huge amount of parameters under your fingertips.
#jd800 #rolandcloud #synth
Roland JD-800 gives you unparalleled control over the venerable Roland D-50 waveforms coupled with TVF multimode filters (an early implementation of digital musical filters). This synthesizer is a whole mood for sure.

The Roland JD-800 original hardware also had a souped-up rackmounted sibling, the JD990. The JD-800 has been used by such musical luminaries as Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, 808 State, and Pet Shop Boys as well as in countless TV and movie soundtracks of the 90s.

The track here is mostly made with the JD-800 plugin but the drums and one lead sound are from the Nexus Rompler VST and G-Force Software OB-E emulation.

Patch of The Week: Brass & Blade - inspired by Vangelis & Jarre, a melodic jam with 2 patches

video upload by AJH Synth Official

"First of 3 videos with the Gemini 2412, starting with this simple performance using 2 sounds derived from a monophonic synth brass patch, loosely inspired by Vangelis (Blade Runner) and Jean-Michel Jarre (specifically Oxygene). The next 2 videos will show you how to make the sounds.
The patch emulates the Oberheim SEM design (2 VCO, 1 VCF, 2 ADS envelopes), as the Gemini 2412 is based on the filter from that classic gorgeous-sounding synth module. As many will know, Vangelis famously used the CS-80, and Jarre a variety of expensive early synths, but the humble SEM wasn't necessarily associated with either of them. However, it's character of sound, and that of the Gemini, make it a particularly good choice for brass-like pads and leads, either using it's bandpass filter (as in this video), or it's high pass and low pass filters (much like the CS-80).
In the next video I'll show how to construct the brass sound from the later half of this video, and in the video following that will show how to make a couple of sounds directly based on the CS-80 patches used in Blade Runner, so stay tuned.

Check out the AJH Synth playlists for more 'Patch of The Week' videos, which will be either performances or 'how to' guides detailing a range of sounds, some familiar, some less so, and each containing a patch sheet at the end to show you how to construct it for yourself.

◇◆◇◇◇

The OPLoid is an instrument for Ableton Live.

It adopts the synthesis principles of the Yamaha YM3812 (OPL2) and YMF262 (OPL3) FM chips. These chips were widely used on IBM PC-based sound cards in the late 20th century (e.g., AdLib and Soundblaster) and defined the sound of the "MS-DOS era".

The OPLoid is not an accurate emulation of the OPL 2 or 3, but rather a synthesizer on its own. It closely mimics the OPL 2 and 3 in their principles of operation to stay true to the original chips' characteristic sound and to make it accessible in a modern music production environment. Nevertheless, some parameters have been slightly modified to allow for more flexibility in sound design.

While the OPLoid might be useful for all genres of electronic music, it is probably especially suitable for genres from the Vaporwave spectrum, Dungeon Synth and Chiptune.

Features:
- close imitation of the 2-operator FM algorithm from the Yamaha OPL2 and OPL3 sound chips
- 8 waveforms
- monophonic and polyphonic mode
- up to 64 voices of polyphony (depending on CPU power)

909 (Korg Minilogue Xd // Erica Synths Bassline DB01 + H9 + Pill // Roland TR6S // Dreadbox Nymphes)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I must admit that I don't tend to use the classic TR-909 sounds a lot πŸ˜… But for this time, the Roland - TR-6S had to do the job! So I used a TR-909 kit its the Analog Circuit Behavior engine (no samples from the TR-909 here). The result (the ACB technology from Roland is quite stunning and can really do the job!).

So I had a little help from my friends, one on my left taking care of the drum machine (fading in the sounds, fills, effects etc.), and on my left playing a bell sound on the Korg - Minilogue XD, layered by the a choir-like sound from the 6-voice analog polyphonic Dreadox - Nymphes!

* Hardware used *
- Bells: KORG Minilogue XD
- Bass: ERICA SYNTHS Bassline DB-01 + EVENTIDE H9 + PILL PEDAL
- Drums: ROLAND TR-6S
- Choir-like: DREADBOX Nymphes"

Wingie automation

video upload by UncertainMusicCorps

"Digging deeper into the midi implementation of Wingie v2 led to this little proof of concept.

As in the previous video, Wotja is providing the audio for Wingie to feed on and is generating midi to control the pitches of its two voices.

This time, Wotja is also using midi CC0 to change at random the voice types used by Wingie's two channels. The changes are flagged by colour changes of the LEDs on the right side of Wingie's front panel.

I limited the change options to exclude 'cave' mode on this occasion."
