Roland Jupiter 6 and DSI Tempest downtempo electronic track

video upload by MIDERA

"Here's a quick track I made using the Roland Jupiter 6 and a drum loop I made on the DSI Tempest. I had about 45 minutes to do this - so it's a bit rough around the edges. But to make this track I used the Split-1 mode on the Jupiter with two separate patches.

It's kind of fun to use, but I see it as a live sort of thing, kind of finding two patches that work well and then just jamming with it rather than using it in general. So I probably won't use it often. I like to have the whole panel as one patch. Anyway, it's Valentine's Day - so hopefully you have something fun to do - or you had something fun to do, whether it's by yourself or with someone else. I am going to go hang out with my wife.

Happy Valentine's Day 2023

video upload by John L Rice

"Partial cover version of Chicago's hit Colour My World using Yudin Workshop Pulsar tongue pan drums and a Mellotron Micro keyboard.

I started this last fall and never finished it. I was going to add drums, bass, maybe some sequencing/arpeggiations, and I even made a futile attempt at singing the vocals but no amount of editing could save it! 🤦‍♂️😅😊 So for Valentine's Day I decided to just put together the last third with just the tongue drums and Mellotron.

Inception - The Birth of the Roland TR-808

video upload by Johnny Morgan Synth Dreams

"A mini-doc exploring the history leading up to the inception of the one of the greatest drum machines created, the Roland TR-808"

See the Documentaries label below for more.

muSonics is back.

First a little background from Wikipedia:

"1971–1977: Moog Musonics, Moog Music, Inc.

In November 1971, rival company muSonics bought R. A. Moog, Inc. and relocated the company to Williamsville, New York. An old factory at the north end of Academy Street was purchased. The company was renamed Moog Musonics, then Moog Music, Inc.[3]

In 1972, former televangelist and successful salesman David VanKouvering joined the company as VP of Marketing, creating a network of retail stores throughout the United States and then the entire world.[5] Despite the increased commercial success the company saw with the introduction of the Minimoog than with previous products, competition with contemporary manufacturers such as ARP Instruments, Oberheim Electronics, and Electronic Music Studios drove the company steadily deeper into debt.[6][7] Moog Music, Inc. was ultimately sold to Norlin Industries in 1973. At this point, rival companies such as the aforementioned ARP Instruments were producing both monophonic and polyphonic synthesizers that rapidly outpaced the Moog in popularity. By 1975, ARP owned 40% of the synthesizer market share, effectively boxing out Moog Music, Inc.[8]

In 1976, Norlin moved the company to a facility on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga. In 1977, once his contract with Norlin expired, Robert Moog officially left the company to pursue his own ventures, founding the firm Big Briar.[9]"

And the press release for the new muSonics:

For Immediate Release

January 23, 2023

Chillicothe, Illinois - muSonics has acquired very failed Eurorack manufacturer STG Soundlabs in a private equity trade valued at 6 million Dogecoin. Based in the greater Buffalo area, muSonics is America's oldest synthesizer company whose first instrument, the Sonic V educational synthesizer, is highly-regarded as one of the most reliable analogue instruments of the 1970s.

Suit & Tie Guy, former STG Soundlabs president and newly appointed CEO of the merged company, STG muSonics, was quoted as saying “I’m excited to be an important part of a history-rich American brand such as muSonics, which exists in a unique category alongside names like Abercrombie & Fitch, Montgomery Ward, and Radio Shack."

The first STG muSonics product, the Voltage Controlled Amplifier in the American modular synthesizer format, is currently available at Noisebug of Pomona, California. It is the final revision of the Voltage Controlled Amplifier made by muSonics in the early 1970s as part of their very famous and well-regarded modular synthesizers. Updates and improvements include 15 volt power support, selectable AC coupling, and a new shallow profile of less than 2 inches behind the front panel.

Pending the completion of the acquisition, muSonics will be moving from their current office, a vintage dumpster located behind the Wegman’s grocery store in Williamsville, New York, to downtown Chillicothe, Illinois, making it possibly the only company moving to the state this year.

"This ones a bit of an emotional chiptune pop song

When I was studying a lot of music theory last year this one one of the tracks I wrote. I recently was trying to port it to the C64 on DEFMON so figured I'd post them both.

No bandcamp release as of yet as well I have to make an Album cover which is the bane of my existence lately and I don't want to use A.I to do it. As usual if you would like it see it on bandcamp comment below and I'll make it happen, thank you.

Cš-L | Episode 01 | The Instruō Ecosystem + Crash Course

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"I am not sure how many episodes this series will have, but one episode is definitely not enough. What an amazing module!

In this episode I'll go through the Cs-L in an instruo case and trying to familiarize myself with it. I know many of these modules on their own, but not as a combo and it feels like having two left hands. I simply did not feel 'qualified' to cover a complex module like the Cs-L but I learned a lot while making this video.

I am not in any way related to Instruō except for being a customer. I've been building this case since 2017 and now it's finally almost finished."

This Is A Test: Bio-feedbacker prototype - eurorack bio-intergration interface device

video upload by Mountainking Electronics

"My interest in biofeedback therapy and technology and electronic music has led me to design a variety of bio-intergration interface devices. These are devices that allow you to use your body to control and influence audio and cv signals within a modular synthesizer system but whereas we normally use our bodies to mechanically manipulate controls (ie using our hands to turn knobs, push buttons and flick switches) these B.I.D.s allow us to use things like galvanic skin response, eeg, physical proximity, body capacitance, etc to use our bodies AND minds to control and influence the signals within a modular synthesizer system in ways that we normally don't even consider. I believe that through experimentation and practice these devices can help us tap into a relatively unexplored universe of interaction with our musical instruments.

On to the Bio-feedbacker. The Bio-feedbacker is what I call a "touch box". A touch box is simply a box that houses touch plates that are connected to jacks. The Bio-feedbacker contains two signal touch plates and one ground touch plate but what makes it different than the other touch boxes I have designed is that it also contains a switchable, adjustable attenuator which can be used the way we normally use an attenuator in a modular synthesizer system or it can be used to create a feedback loop for use with signal processor modules. To accommodate this feedback looper feature there are two sets of normalled jacks on the input and output of the attenuator. These jacks also allow the Bio-feedbacker to be used as a multiple module.

Video clips:

1. In this clip a fixed control voltage from a voltage processor module is sent into the Biofeedback and out to the pitch cv input of a VCO. The clips shows the control voltage going through and being manipulated by hands as well as going through the attenuator and hands.

2. In this clip a fixed control voltage from a voltage processor module is sent into the Biofeedback and then into the cv input for the cutoff frequency of a VCF. The clips shows the control voltage going through and being manipulated by hands as well as going through the attenuator and hands.

3. In this clip a audio square is sent into a VCF and the Bio-feedbacker is used to create a feedback loop. First the loop is created by hands and the it created by the attenuator as well as hands. What is interesting about this patch is that because the VCF inverts the signal, mixing it with the noninverted and unfiltered signal that passes through via the feedback loop path you get phase cancelation creating an effect similar to that of an allpass filter or phaser.

4. . In this clip a fixed control voltage from a voltage processor module is sent into the Biofeedback and then into the trigger input of a drum module. Touching the two plates at the same time sends a short burst of voltage acting like a trigger or gate. The strength of the signal can be varied by the amount of contact your hands/body has on the signal touch plates as well as the pressure you apply on the touch plates and because the input of the drum module is sensitive to the amplitude of trigger/gate signal you can create the type of effect achieved by striking an actual drum harder or softer. In the second part of the clip a clock/low frequency square wave is sent into the Bio-feedbacker and then into the trigger/gate input of the drum module and this signal is manipulated by hands and then used inconjuction with the attenuator.

As with all of my B.I.D.s designs, the Bio-feedbacker's design is still being experimented with but if you would like to order one I would be happy to build you one so please email me for details:

Thank you,

How to create pre-filter stereo patches on the modular – Zagrzeb - Xaoc devices

Tweaking: Korg Minilogue XD [NO TALKING]

video upload by SYNTHWAY

"Just some musical ramblings and live tweaking sounds on the Minilogue XD, my current go to synthesizer for some fun purposes. It is a very nice instrument for the price, the effects are way better than with more expensive gear, expandability with the SDK is a nice way to keep it alive (already purchased Sinevibes Node, video soon).

Been away for quite some time, promisse I'll be back more often, maybe even focus a bit more on playing stuff, rather than showing sounds only."

Demo Boss DC-2W + Nord Lead A1 [NO TALKING]

video upload by SYNTHWAY

"Just some random improvisations and tweaking sounds coupled with the marvelous DC-2 Waza from Boss. Up to 7 minutes I was using it in SDD-320 mode, and after that a bit of the original DC-2 mode. I go swtiching all the modes (1-2-3-4 and combinations of them) progressively throughout the whole demo."

Demo Boss CE-2W + Nord Lead A1 [NO TALKING]

video upload by SYNTHWAY

"On the same day I've used both pedals (CE-2W and DC-2W) and the Nord A1. The only real difference is that the DC-2W is true stereo, meaning that I could record a single stereo track. For the CE-2W you get one side with the effect, the other without, so the best way to combine its own sound is to pan a bit of each track (in this case, one is 12R the other 12L).

It is a marvelous pedal, with a more subtle CE-2 mode, a medium CE-1 mode, and a vibrato option, that coupled with synthesizers sounds great.

Feel free to ask me anything... I'll answer the best I can."

Overview of the Mantra & TKB by Random*Source - Serge Modular

video upload by Stazma

"Today i'll go with you on a guided tour of one of my (if not THE) favorite modular synthesizer in my collection: the Serge modular Mantra & TKB panel by Random*Source
The Mantra is meant as a perfect intro to the world of Serge in 4U size (not eurorack format), and the TKB is a powerhouse of sequencing and interactive control. I'll just scratch the surface of what's possible with this combo but at least it should give you an idea of how you could use these.

Have fun!"
