Jenny Ondioline - Beautiful, Historic N/P

"This gorgeous Ondioline was probably made in 1950. It was last bought in Paris in 2006. At that time it was not working, so it was given a complete overhaul (3800 Euros) by one of Europe's Ondioline specialists, Jean-Loup Dierstein. The rosewood cabinet was also French-polished and still looks beautiful. After the overhaul, synth pioneer (and the original 1950s Ondioline salesman) Jean-Jacques Perrey checked it out and said it was 'comme nouveau!' ('like new' - see photo). EXTRAS: A sturdy custom flight case was made (included in this auction) which insured its safe shipping to the current owner's non-smoking pet-free studio in Tokyo. A clear perspex back was also made for it (the original art deco wooden back will also be included). A 1/4' line out has been added, as well as a standard 3-pin mains socket.

And for completists, copies of several letters from George Jenny, and the original owner's manual (all in French) are included, as well as a brand new English version of the manual.

WORKING CONDITION: Time takes its toll and as they all do, this 75-year old Ondioline does need some maintenance. The keyboard is fine - touch vibrato, preset vibrato and knee volume all good. A few of the filters have no effect. Sometimes the instrument is almost silent, and a restart may fix that. In its current state, it can be described as an 'intermittent' instrument.

Probably largely due to some loose or rusty connections - fixing these should not be difficult. When it works, the tone is as rich and vibrant as ever, and in tune over the entire 6-octave range. A rare opportunity to own one of the few hundred Ondiolines ever produced!

POWER: switchable 110/120/145/220/245V. SIZE: width 42/58 cm height 70 cm, depth 24 cm. WEIGHT: 21 kg (without flight case). Shipping estimate to UK/Europe: about £100 by sea, £300 by air - slightly more to US."

You can find demos in previous posts here.

Here’s a barely-used Butterfly Benjolin from Macumbista’s new “RM” series of Benjolins: a pair of Rob Hordijk’s oft-copied Benjolin synthesizers in a distinctive cigar box enclosure, made under license and with several improvements by Macumbista Instruments and Frog Leg Synthesis. The most obvious enhancement is the ring modulator now standard in Macumbista’s Benjolin designs, which greatly expands the timbral possibilities. XOR-ing signals can be a nice substitute for RM in a pitch, but it’s great to have the real thing and really dial your sounds in. Patching two ring modulators in series opens up some wild sounds. Within its deceptively simple architecture, you’ll find ample opportunity for sound design, strange loops, and a fair bit of chaos. I’ve just never had the *grá* for R2R/digital shift registers/runglers that so many of my peers have. I gave it a chance, and now I’ll let it go to someone similarly curious, or to one of those obsessives out there. If you’re curious about these, there are loads of videos about the Benjolin on YouTube that will give you a sense of what it can do. There aren’t many videos of the “Butterfly Benjolin V4,” which has the ring modulator and additional enhancements, of which this is a lovely example. Here’s the manual for Macumbista’s new “RM” line of Benjolins: https://macumbista.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Benjo-cheat-sheet-1.2-mid.pdf The Butterfly is two of these in a single enclosure with shared power supply, common 0v, etc. Shipping from Berlin, Germany. It will ship with a 12v line-lump power supply in sturdy packaging."

New SEOK Eurorack Modules - DRIPS, AT, M22, & ROTARIES

SEOK - DRIPS – Voltage Controlled Analog Filter [DEMO no talk]

video upload by SEOK synthesizers

via SEOK Eurorack Modules

DRIPS

A warm and bubbly 12 dB/oct analog Eurorack filter with dual voltage control of frequency. Low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass outputs in one compact 8 hp module.

With external signals, the filter stays soft, clean, and precise. Adding resonance gives a liquid acid tone (like a good filter coffee). When driven into self-oscillation, it produces sine waves perfect for deep bass, kicks, and percussive sounds.

An integrated VCA placed after the filter lets you shape both tone and dynamics in a single path – precise when clean, saturated and raw when pushed.

Raise the offset to move seamlessly from rhythmic sequences to heavy drones.

Background:
We wanted to build a versatile Eurorack VCF/VCA with a balanced function-to-HP ratio. For us, ergonomics are as important as function – it should feel intuitive and spacious around the core controls.

And since we’re from Sweden, we couldn’t resist adding a little warmth.

"Programmable analog drum machine from East Germany, often tagged as the "east block TR-808". I think it deserves better than this comparision, since it's a very nice sounding drum machine on its own, with many features for the time (MIDI IN and OUT - sync and trigger, stereo output, optional trigger inputs and individual outputs etc)

Unit was serviced, calibrated and is in fully working order. It has the latest firmware which fix the MIDI timing issue earlier units had. If you don't know these units check the quick demo I made with this very unit. (led blinking is of course only due to video refresh rate, they don't blink in real) I serviced several of those units through the years. Cosmetic is in excellent condition with only very little wear and scuff."

Dimensional Patching - Exploring Sumu's Space Module

video upload by Madrona Labs

"Today we're breaking down the Space module—Sumu's advanced panner and mixer section. With 64 partials per voice and individual control over each one's placement in the stereo field, Sumu opens up some serious spatial possibilities. By patching any partial output to the x, y, or z axis, we transform our spectral data into a dimensional landscape we can navigate and manipulate. We'll also explore home and field patterns, and how modulating the field pattern's speed generates spatial movement directly from our partials.

Press releases follow:

Sequential Announces Free OS Update for Take 5 Synthesizer — Adds Poly Chain and More

OS Update introduces 10-voice Poly Chain, new arpeggiator patterns, Whiplash arp timing mode, and violet noise.

San Francisco, CA — November 6, 2025— Sequential today announced a major OS update for its popular Take 5 polyphonic synthesizer, delivering powerful new features that expand its creative capabilities. This update is free for all Take 5 owners and is available now from the Sequential website.

The centerpiece of the update is Poly Chain, which allows two Take 5s to be linked for a fully integrated 10-voice instrument. This means players can perform bigger chords and more complex arrangements without worrying about voice stealing. All front-panel controls are mirrored from one unit to the other for seamless sound tweaking, as if they were a single, expanded synth.

The arpeggiator gets a serious creative boost with 10 new play modes designed to inspire fresh rhythmic and melodic ideas. Modes like Spiral and Leapfrog introduce surprising new musical elements, creating parts that feel alive. These patterns go beyond simple up-and- down motion, using virtual “playheads” to weave intricate note paths, adding new flavor to your compositions.

Another standout feature is Whiplash, a new timing mode that keeps each arpeggiator cycle the same length regardless of how many notes you hold. The result? Notes bunch together or spread apart dynamically, producing rhythmic tension and release that stays in-step with the overall bar-length of your composition.

Finally, the update also adds violet noise, which emphasizes high frequencies while reducing low-end content. This opens up new possibilities for sound design, from smooth and shimmering textures to airy percussive layers.

"Musicians love the sound of Take 5, and we get asked regularly for ways to expand the polyphony," said David Gibbons, CEO of Sequential.

"This new software makes it possible to use it as a massive 10-voice synth — while also adding some fun and creative new capabilities."

The Sequential Take 5 combines classic Prophet-5 tone with a compact, portable design and an intuitive layout that feels great to play. With five voices of polyphony (and now ten with a desktop module companion), authentic analog oscillators, the iconic Prophet-5 filter, and deep modulation options, it’s the perfect gateway to Sequential’s legendary sound.

Oberheim Releases Free OS Update for TEO-5 Synthesizer — Adds Poly Chain and More

OS Update introduces 10-voice Poly Chain, new arpeggiator patterns, Whiplash arp timing mode, and violet noise.

San Francisco, CA — November 6, 2025— Oberheim today announced a free OS update for its acclaimed TEO-5 synthesizer, adding powerful new features that make the instrument even more versatile and inspiring. The update is now available for download from Oberheim's website.

The highlight of the update is Poly Chain, enabling two TEO-5 units to be linked for a fully synchronized 10-voice Oberheim experience. This allows for complex chords and lush textures without compromise, and all panel controls are mirrored across both units for consistent sound and performance.

Additionally, the arpeggiator now includes 10 new play modes that go far beyond traditional patterns. Modes like Spiral and Leapfrog introduce new rhythm and melody, creating parts that twist, turn, and evolve in ways that spark creativity.

Also new is Whiplash, a timing mode that keeps each arpeggiator cycle the same length no matter how many keys you hold. This means the note values shift dynamically, producing rhythmic tension and release that stays in-step with the overall bar-length of your composition.

To round out the update, violet noise joins the sonic palette. With its emphasis on high frequencies and reduced low-end content, violet noise is ideal for creating smooth shimmering textures, airy effects, and unique percussive elements.

"TEO-5 was designed to bring the classic Oberheim sound to more players," said Tom Oberheim. "This update pushes that vision further — adding features that make it even more useful and inspiring."

TEO-5 combines authentic Oberheim tone with modern creative tools. With true analog oscillators, the legendary SEM filter, linear through-zero FM, and a deep modulation matrix, TEO-5 offers a vast sonic palette in a compact, performance-ready design. Take the next step with TEO-5 and download the Poly Chain OS Update today.

The TEO-5 OS update is now available for free download at https://oberheim.com/products/teo-5-poly-chain-os-update/

Olivella Modular Furia | Discrete transistor filter & VCA

video upload by Tom Churchill

"Olivella Modular's Furia is a 4-pole transistor ladder filter, based on the E-mu Modular 2100 LPF designed by Dave Rossum in the 1970s, paired with a discrete transistor VCA with tons of gain. There are no ICs anywhere in the audio path, so it has an authentically vintage sound, and it distorts in a really musical way. In this video, I give an overview of Furia’s signal path and controls and build a few patches to demonstrate how it sounds.

Chapters:
00:00 Intro & patch previews
01:42 Furia overview
07:41 Pinging the input
09:41 Overdriven acid
13:54 Furia as a low-pass gate
16:39 Dirty drum machine preamp
22:00 Audio-rate cutoff modulation"

"FURIA is a discrete 4-pole ladder filter and a transistor VCA with a variable response CV curve control. It isn't 'just' a filter, but an all-around vintage-sounding sculpting and performing tool.

The filter section is based on the venerable E-mu Modular 2100 LPF, but unlike it, there're no ICs in the audio path - even the output stage op-amps are transistor based, both in the VCF and VCA sections.

As its name suggests, FURIA has plenty of gain on tap: the INPUT LEVEL knob starts distorting around 9 o'clock and interacts with the resonance in interesting ways, while the VCA and its X10 input switch can transform the filtered sound into nasty acid basslines - no external distortion required.

You can use the filter and VCA independently or in series, with an AMP CV input that's normalled to the FREQ CV input to facilitate a LPG-like configuration.

The AMP IN allows you to mix a signal into the VCA after the filter - for example, a higher register FM'd or wavefolded sine wave with a bassier filtered sawtooth from the LPF stage.

Unlike most ladder filters, FURIA's LPF is fully DC-coupled, though internal offsets may produce slight clicks at the VCA stage.
To remedy that, the DIP switch on the back lets you selectively AC-couple the VCF and VCA inputs and outputs, reducing clicks and offsets for audio purposes. It also allows you to change the VCF -> VCA normalling for series, parallel or independent use."

disting NT - Looper "automatic sustain"

video upload by Expert Sleepers

"This video demonstrates a simple modular technique being applied within a disting NT preset, where the module is being used as a pedalboard multi-effect based around the Looper algorithm.

An envelope tracker follows the input audio, generating an internal CV which is in turn mapped to modulate the 'Overdub fade' parameter of the Looper.

The result is than when there's input from the player, the new material replaces the old loop, but when the player stops, the loop is effectively frozen. Furthermore, the player can control the depth of the fade with the dynamics of their playing.

Any parameter on the disting NT can be mapped in this way."

WaterWork Preview 1

video upload by ParadisoModular

"This video shows a patch that I made over the last month that is all derived from independent water sounds. from I fade the straight audio in occasionally as a stereo pair, but also run it through many effects (e.g., a flanger, granular effects that give it more of a water slap sound, etc.) and fade those in and out too, plus also use the water sounds as triggers (coming from envelope followers) and clocks for lots of audio events, use the water amplitudes to affect various processes, vocode the water against chords, and also run the water sound through one of my frequency/voltage converters that is in turn quantized to a scale that works with the chords, and form different kinds of sequences through that. The water sounds drive essentially everything in this patch. Occasionally I drive my vocoded water sounds through a 'Mellotron' tracker pedal, crossfading the source between the raw and reverbed versions. And so on... - there is lots more going on in this patch. I've evolved it through several versions, tweaking different sounds and processes, and I have hours of this recorded at various stages in case I do something more formal with it. But here's a good 5 minutes of it recorded last week, to give interested folks a flavor of what it does. All autonomous - no real-time input from me - a generative patch essentially driven entirely by the water."

EMS Synthi 100

"This is my EMS 100, serial number 007, clearly licensed to thrill. Arguably, one of the most iconic if not the most iconic modular synth ever built. This is the unit formerly owned by TC media composer Bruno Spoeri. It came to me in a very good state and I enjoyed it for a long time.
I have owned several VCS3s and AKS over the years as well and I would describe the EMS 100 as sounding substantially more organic. It can of course do all the weird and wonderful stuff an EMS synth is known for and take this to extremes. But it also excels at playing it melodically (yes it can do that) which is much helped by the dual manual keyboard which is velocity sensitive (!) and very expressive.

I want the buyer of this wonderful item to be as happy with it as I was. The EMS is therefore currently being refurbished by a world leading specialist with huge experience in servicing and building modular synths and commercial studios all over the world. State of refurbishment The EMS has undergone a complete overhaul. The refurbishment also includes the woodwork and the dual keyboard.

As reported by my tech, the sound generation and the keyboards are fully functional. We haven't managed to fix the sequencer in time for the auction. We also need to fix one of the two spring reverbs. If these two issues haven't been fixed before the auction end I will contribute 5k Euro to the repair as a lump sum reduction of the purchase price. It will be in the buyer's discretion to decide on the further course of action.

Shipping: The EMS 100 main unit is a substantial item. It is currently sitting at my tech's premises. It can be delivered by him with a lorry to most parts of central Europe (within reason). This is to be arranged between the buyer and my tech and will have to be compensated on terms agreed between the buyer and my tech. My tech will also be happy to help setting it up after the journey.

If overseas shipping is required, the EMS main unit can be divided into two parts, the lower pedestal and the console (i.e. the synth itself) which is sitting on the pedestal. Along with the dual manual keyboard this will result in three parts for the shipping. It is no problem to build a crate. This will be have to be arranged by the buyer with my tech.

Important: All shipping arrangements must be made by the buyer with my tech. The ownership of the EMS will pass to the buyer upon receipt of the auction price while the EMS is still sitting at my tech's place. It will be shipped directly from him at the buyers instruction, arrangements and risk. My tech is of course happy to assist with shipping and he has experience with shipping. He has shipped large format consoles over the Atlantic, so he knows what he is doing. As always, the buyer is of course responsible for all import duties and taxes as normal. (Within the EU that is zero!)

Bidding: I kindly ask bidders to only bid with serious intent. Please do not bid if you cannot follow up on your bid. Please keep in mind that the bid constitutes a binding contract and not following up can cause substantial damage to me and/or other bidders. I trust that you understand.

VEMIA note: on reflection, given the pretty remarkable condition of most of the Synthi, we think 'very good' is a more accurate cosmetic score. Please look at the photos to decide for yourself."

"I bought this lovely old VCS3 / DK combination in April's VEMIA. Apparently the last of Cardiff University's EMS gear after many years. I knew the top panel was a bit tatty - the photos were clear - but I didn't think it would matter much in use. Actually it did. The bottom panel was excellent (except for Cardiff Uni's incised name and the serial number - exactly like the other one sold on VEMIA and the one on the Wikipedia entry). The wood of the case was excellent. So the missing screenprint bits on the main panel actually got to be annoying. Luckily the brilliant Robin Wood and Lucid were able to work out a solution. Robin had a replica panel made and screenprinted, and Lucid did the painstaking job of installing it. The result is just beautiful and well worth the expense.

Unfortunately circumstances mean that I now need to sell it. Everything else is exactly as it was in the last auction, so I'll use the same photos from that, just adding some new ones of the beautiful new main panel. It will be in perfect working order, thanks to Lucid's expertise.

As of Oct 31 it is now back at VEMIA and will be shipped from there.

"Buchla / BEMI 208e rev3 module in like new condition. All is good working, better than from the factory. I installed NOS µA726 and (re)calibrated the oscillators tracking, they have similar range and track well, the CO over 4 octaves and the MO over 5 octaves. I scaled the AM so that it reaches full level with the slider all the way up (and not around mid-course like on many units, which twists the waverform and causes modulation at double frequency). I can install it in a powered boat for standalone use. I can do modifications such as stiffer pots, Rogan knobs, dedicated out for each LPG or the CO (to sync the VCS3 Card's oscillator and FM the MO), reverb mix CV input, noise generator... Happy to discuss this with the buyer."

Dimensions are 21.5cm wide by 27cm high, professionally printed and bound and approximately 48 pages. The book will have 'Not for Resale' grey band printed on it (as seen in the photos) as it is a limited edition and only a few copies have been printed off."

"See video [in the listing while up] for working features. The feet switch works but you sometimes have to fiddle with it. I bought this in the late 1980’s so it is firsthand. I have kept it in a dry healthy environment. It was bought in Europe and I checked it in the US using a European plug and a proper power transformer. The internal loudspeaker doesn’t seem to work. In the video I connected it to an external speaker. Batteries didn’t seem to power up the synth. Not sure why, the connexions are clean. Maybe modern alkaline batteries are weaker than the older ones. This looks like a toy but is actually a very powerful and sought after synth.

TECHNICAL FEATURES
Improved filter: The CS01 II features a 24dB resonant low-pass filter with an adjustable slider for resonance, a significant upgrade from the 12dB filter with a simple on/off resonance switch on the original model.

Sound generation: It includes a voltage-controlled oscillator with selectable waveforms (triangle, saw, square), pulse width modulation, and a white noise option.

Envelopes and LFO: A single ADSR envelope generator controls both the amplifier and filter depth, and a basic LFO can modulate the VCO pitch or filter cutoff.

Portability: Designed for portability, it has a mini-keyboard, a built-in speaker, and can be powered by batteries.

Controls: It includes pitch and modulation wheels, a glissando (portamento) function, and an input for a breath controller.

The CS01 II is a monophonic synthesizer, meaning it can only play one note at a time.

Sound: It is highly regarded by electronic musicians today for its ability to produce "bubbly and growling" bass sounds and other fat analog tones.

Target audience: While its small size and simplicity made it a good beginner's synth when released, its excellent sound quality has made it a valuable instrument for experienced musicians."

The unique sonic character of the Korg Polysix is explored, revealing how its classic warmth and modulation capabilities contributed to the iconic Italo Disco sound.

One of my favorite italo disco tracks from the early 80s.
