Gorgeous (mostly) Pads of the MEGAfm

Published on May 3, 2020 Morning Strategy

"I got my hands on the new MEGAfm synth from Twisted Electrons, and it's incredible. There's a crunch to it that I'm not sure YouTube will capture, but it makes playing this thing exciting and crispy. In between notes there's a quiet undercurrent of hiss and bits that makes me fell like I'm inside a sega game.

These are the first seven patches in a patch bank that will be available for download on the Twisted Electrons page. Subscribe and stay tuned for more info, and let me know in the comments what you think of this synthesizer.

Only processing is a hint of compression (Klevgrand Korvpressor) and a dash of reverb (Audio Damage EOS 2).

Desert Sessions 01 - MPC One / Linnstrument / Nagra Tape Loops

Published on Feb 19, 2020 Analog Industries

"We have no shortage of 'Red Dead Redemption' sets here in State 48, and I lugged my gear out to one of them to record a live performance of two recent tracks.

The first track is a derivation of 'root_position,' which is the bonus Bandcamp-only track on my recent single Exo, and the second track is an iteration of 'A Distant Shot,' off of last week's single 'Buffer Circuit.' You can find both in my Bandcamp account: http://chrisrandall.bandcamp.com

Granular Synthesis and Test Equipment Soundpack for Audio Damage Quanta

Published on Jan 21, 2020 HAINBACH

"In which I talk about the sound pack for the Audiodamage Quanta Granular Synthesizer I made from test equipment sounds.

Chris Randall of Audio Damage saw my video on the Princeton Applied Research 124A Lock-In Amplifier [2:10 here] and was impressed: he asked me if I could make a pack on basis of that machine for their synth Quanta, and I was more than happy to do that. Granular synthesis has been an old love of mine, it was even part of my masters exam back in University. Combining the test equipment with the granular tools was a perfect fit, and I was so happy with the pack that I incorporated it in my live and travel setup. In the video I describe the process, talk a bit about Quanta and go into the context of how I use these sounds personally.

4am: themes for synthesized strings

Published on Jan 18, 2020 NONsynth

"I've uploaded this as a demo to the album I'm working on (see video title).

Waking up at 4am has been super productive, and since early January I've been using the time to explore and develop a piano patch in Continua (new softsynth from Audio Damage). It has morphed from a kind of electric piano to more of a guitar tone, and I realize now that it's starting to approximate the 8-string tone I had a few years back.

I've been playing Continua with the Novation Launchpad X, and it's been a really nice way to get back to somewhat familiar ground, given the guitar-like layout of the default notes mode. It's as familiar as it is foreign, and I've been mirroring that middle ground in the mood of these songs.

Hope those listening enjoy, and please leave a comment if you have any suggestions or criticism! Keep in mind this is an early draft and I've yet to finalize either the notes or the sound design."

Continua: the $100 Moog One

Published on Jan 11, 2020 NONsynth

"I've been obsessed with this Moog video with Paris Strother [posted here]: which features my favourite synth line / chord progression ever. I thought my love for this sound meant I needed to get a Moog One to be happy.

I wanted to see if I could recreate it using the new Audio Damage Continua plugin. In so doing, realized two things:

[1] Continua is my new favourite synth plugin. The oscillator Warp and Skew parameters are so good on a sine wave, introducing all sorts of additional harmonics. I'll be using these settings until I can't stand to hear them anymore.

[2] The sound from the original is amazing, but it's really the chord progression and playing that make it shine. I bet this Continua patch would come alive if Paris was playing instead of it being a midi sequence."

NOIR - Presets for Continua (Desktop and iOS)

Published on Jan 8, 2020 SonalSystem

SonalSystem Presents: NOIR - Presets for Continua

Audio Damage’s new Continua Virtual Analog Synthesizer [announced here] has broken through wavetable ubiquity in creating a modern synth with highly controllable waveform morphing at the center of its architecture and workflow. This synth opens inventive new doors for creatives moving in the must-be-unique design space. That is our space.

COMPLEX ROUTINGS
Enter SonalSystem NOIR, a collection of 80 original presets created specifically for Continua. These presets are custom crafted for Continua’s focus on super smooth waveform morphing and sophisticated yet accessible modulation. We designed these presets to deliver ingratiating sounds however they are modulated, through the oscillators, filters and effects, and even as you tweak the parameters of the modulators themselves.

FROM CINEMA TO ALBUM
Our presets satisfy a spectrum of sound styles for designers with varied proclivities. Entertain your penchant for ambient environments. Get raucous with heavy hitting industrial styles. Commence a new cinematic chronicle. Indulge the tastes of electronic slow-burn. As you further engage the virtually endless morphing capabilities, you’ll come upon diverse sounds destined for integration into your next sonic showpiece.

ULTIMATE EXPRESSION
NOIR is MPE ready and pre-mapped for users with MPE capable controllers. This technology allows virtually every iteration to be dimensionally altered in real time, resulting in an expressive array of disarming and insinuating sounds. By “playing” each note, each preset awakens in a deeply imagistic way as your creation becomes increasingly indicative of your own personality.

*NOIR is available in iOS and PC versions. These 80 presets work in Continua with or without an MPE controller.

Tech Specs:
80 Premium presets for Audio Damage's Continua
Complex routing schemes of LFO, S&H, and Macros for evolving sounds
Categorized by type: Bass, Drones, Leads, Motion, and Pad
Enhanced sound manipulation with MPE mappings.

Folktek Mescaline Eurorack sidechain jam

Published on Aug 28, 2019 While We Were Sleeping

"A jam in two parts recorded a few weeks back.

I had my Folktek Mescaline in my second Eurorack case, that is yet to be filled and had plenty of free space, this was never meant as a permanent solution and ended up a very short one as my case has 2 rows and the Mescaline really needs 3 for the dupont patch cables to get from one Mescaline module to another. I also love the small rack provided by Folktek for the Mescaline.
I ended up only using Channel and Motion as they were above each other.
I also recently finished building the God's box Lollipop compressor so thought it would be fun to add Sidechain compression to Channel.
Motion is clocked by Malekko Varigate 8+ (I mistakenly put Channel in the video captions, sorry for the confusion)
Malekko Varigate 8+ is sequencing the rest of the modules (list below).
The second video has some pops/clicks, this is because I recorded directly to my iPhone using a USB Camera Adapter & zoom USB interface, shame.
In both videos, I am using the Varigate mute function to bring parts in and out but this is especially obvious in the second part where I am funckying up the bass line.

Eurorack Modules:
Folktek Mescaline (Channel and Motion)
God's box Lollipop compressor
Malekko Varigate 8+
Hexinverter Mutant Drums (Bassdrum, Clap, Snare)
Audio damage Mad Hatter + bastl skis

Audio Damage Enso - looper plugin for AU, AAX, VST, VST3, and iOS AUv3

Published on Mar 10, 2019 Audio Damage, Inc.

via Audio Damage

FEATURES

Full Automatic Looping Engine
Enso's looping engine is simple to learn, but exceedingly powerful, with "one button" looping control, both host-synced and free time.

Dub In Place
Enso can either work like a traditional digital looper, where the input is mixed with the buffer contents, then sent to effects, or like a tape looper, where the effects and speed changes are included in the feedback path.

Sector Crossfading
Define four different start and end points. Crossfade between them, and overdub or re-record within them.

Effects Section
Enso has user-controllable "tape style" saturation and hiss, high- and low-pass filters, and a stereo chorus for thickening and carving your loop.

SELF PATCHED! Audio Damage Dimensions // Saturated reberb textures & screaming delay lines

Published on Feb 18, 2019 DivKidVideo

"Dimensions from Audio Damage is a DSP based chorus effect and patching the audio back on itself and pushing the feedback setting causes the delay lines to feedback and create saturated reverberant sounds that would be lovely re-pitched / tuned and put into a sampler to play some chord tones wth, so if you're reading this ... DO THAT then show me the results. :)"
