Matrix Green MachineDrum (Shagghie ft. Bacon the Flying Pig)

YouTube via shagghie

"Sneak Peak Preview of a track called Detroid that Bacon and I are working on. Green MachineDrum transformation was no easy feat, but with help from Pavel (http://pavel.kirkovsky.com), and after many months of dealing with obtuse factories in China...the green display was provisioned, and matching LEDs installed, along with black faceplate with the "Shagghie" logo (artwork by VictorJohn of Tekfunk Recordings). It turned out so perfect that we are building another one just like it as we speak for my live PA's. Thanks for all of Katy Rokit's support as well, can't do squat without her these days... :)
Thanks to Jon of Elektron too, for another great NAMM and for the constant hope of 'something new' just in time for 2010 from the Elektron Elves...I'm sure Dan is going to smile from above!
Lastly, a huge thanks to Matrix of MatrixSynth (matrixsynth.blogspot.com) for all his years of ongoing support to the synth community. This one's for you...from Bacon and I." Thanks Shagghie and Bacon! :)

Update: some more detail from Shagghie: "It's a customized MachineDrum... the displays are no longer being made, so sourcing a green one took the better part of 5 months using google translator and visiting chinese and swedish websites.... the LED's from Mouser. The top is a custom black top. Other than that, it is a MD UW mkII underneath..."

Missy vs. Virus TI

Cowboy and the Vocoder and the MMM

YouTube via redmartian.

Note this is via redmartian and not AnalogVocoder1 (click for the reference).
"A song written for a dog who likes to listen to the sound the Roland SVC-350 vocoder. This song features the MMM as well as a Sequential Circuits Drum Traks and a Roland Jupiter-6. (I don't have a Poly-800 .. sorry cowboy).

Here are the lyrics:

Do you know Cowboy
and the SVC-350?
Do you know Cowboy
and the Roland Vocoder?

Hey there Cowboy
I see you there
Lazy gazing
Gazing lazy
Whos my sweet boy?
You know its you.
I like to vocode and you do too.

No Poly-800 to drive the SVC
So I use an MMM as my carrier wave
No Poly-800 but Cowboy doesn't mind.
We all know its the Roland SVC-350 vocoder time.

Audio version can be found here:
http://redmartian.com/napster/Red_Mar..."

Update: The ending might not be safe for work.

Sarah Palin - Save the Wolves

YouTube via PhotoAnimationGuy. That makes it Obama 3, McCain 0. Hmm... Synths and Cats... Synths and Dogs... Synths and Birds... Synths and Obama... We are starting to see another pattern here.
Again, it's always about the synths: "Hi, I made this anti Sarah Palin video using some analog synths. I used the cantus firmus patch on the alesis andromeda heavily, ms-20 saw wave for the gangsta lead on the chorus section, vintage jazz bass line, 808 samples from my old 808." You send it, I post it. Come on McCainies, send something in to make it even. Apologies to the politically adverse.

Programming the Korg Kpr-77

YouTube via peglegjoe857

"This is the Korg KPR-77.

Neat little drum Machine with a warm tone. The toms sound great. Kick could use a little more depth, snare could use more snap... but the still sound neat, obviously. You could always do the Plutonique9 Mod and add a quick pitch ENV to the kick and a faster attack to the snare. I hear it sounds great! I had been intending to do the mod, but am instead selling the machine and switching to vintage samplers. Thought I would make a quick little video to help sell it, so here it is!

The KPR is a cool machine, but is mostly overshadowed by the Roland stuff, particularly the 606. The 606 does sound cool, but I think the KPR has much better toms. I personally think that the Boss DR-110 sounds better than both of these, but it lacks toms, and that's a bummer being that I love the analog tom sound. The KPR does sound very unique, sounds amazing with a little TLC in the EQ and Effects department and will definitely add a unique sound to your setup. Try dropping some of the Lower Mids a bit and boosting the Low. Delay is always great, and of course something to grunge it up is awesome too.

In the spirit of analog gear, I recorded all the audio of this video to my Tascam MSR-16 Reel-To-Reel through my analog Ramsa board, with absolutely no EQ or effects of any kind. What you hear is exactly what the KPR is!

You can hear my dogs in the background, cute huh!"

Buying & transporting & playing Alesis ION

YouTube via Jexus.

More crazy Jexus videos here. There's an NSFW moment in this one.

"Here is the documentary of us traveling & buying & transporting an Alesis Ion. After that there's a demo of my Ion (my baby) where I show its features and play some neat tunes and arpeggiated madness as well as some classic stuff to present the real power and extract the fullest of the possibilities of this 'little beast'. Simply I take it onto a journey across variety of musical styles to showcase its capability to cover various sound areas."

Modular Casio SK-5 Bent by Oceanus, the Vince Clarke Machine

YouTube via xd515. images via this auction
"in a modular design, with a intergrated Speak and Spell called the 'Vince Clarke Machine'.. not endorsed by Vince but totally capable of making erasure'esque sounds!

Over 100 man hours went into putting this beast together and it has many technical bends previously unheard on the SK, such as the spacial distorter the Auto bend ( as on my modular SK-1 but now syncronised to the internal clock signals ) and the ability to re-program the percussion patterns.

Sadly I can't show all the features in the 10 minutes youtube allow, It can also separate and solo any one of the 4 channels, has separate Percussion / Speak outputs, will sync the autobend to the address bus, you can switch of the internal highpass filters etc.

The Intergrated Speak and Spell has it's own LFO and I have a similar one here on youtube.

This machine may also be for sale for a sensible offer.. :-)
