A three-dimensional acoustic specimen frozen in the freezing air.
This work combines the layered sequences of the Prophet-5 and Poly-Sequencer with the chaotic textures of the Duos. These were mastered using the legendary 3D sound processor, Roland RSS (Roland Sound Space).
A three-dimensional sound image unfolds to the left and right, and front and back.
Noise and melodies that would normally be heard right next to your ears are 'frozen' in a specific space, creating the illusion that they are floating."

"This work uses a runaway noise generator from Hikari Instruments / Duos as the main source. This extreme signal was passed through the external input of the legendary 1970s Yamaha CS-10, and then thoroughly deconstructed and reconstructed using filter modulation.

The unpredictable chaos of the Duos and the sharp yet sticky analog filter of the CS-10 resonate with each other, creating a dry, tense acoustic space reminiscent of the 'Dead Zone' suggested by the title.

I particularly like the operating system that allows you to quickly assign parameters to mod and perform.

In addition to granular, it has a full range of effects including filter bank, distortion, a noise addition function similar to Ableton's Erosion, a simple compressor, and spatial effects, making it an excellent multi-effects unit."

"This is a self-contained exploration of the Hikari Monos CV. The noise-based sound generator has harmonic sliders, a self-resonating filter, and internal square-wave modulation.

Monos CV creates tones from filtered sine pulses to chaotic clusters of layered noise. The six pitch-divided sliders (/1 to /32) shape rich harmonic structures, while internal modulation and filter feedback push it further."

"This video features an live performance highlighting the Hikari MONOS, a unique synthesizer that generates a wide range of noise textures and rhythmic patterns through combination of a noise generator and an oscillating low-pass filter. The performance was recorded live, and is presented here with minimal edits.

The Monos is accompanied by the Kirscher Microfilter, a MS-20 (resonant low-pass filter) clone, and two devices by Error Instruments, the Control Freak and the Radio Sputnik uvb-76, here both used for CV modulation of the Monos and/or the filter cutoff. The Monos also goes through a mixer with Delay & Reverb send (UAFX Starlight Echo Station & Golden Reverberator).

Finally, the recording was lightly mixed and mastered in Pro Tools. Enjoy!
