Pursuing The Dream

Uploaded on Sep 6, 2011 gregaeYT·2 videos

Some synth spotting with gregaeYT

"Three short audio sketches inspired by the music by by Tangerine Dream - part of a forthcoming live performance at the National Electronics Museum in Linthicum, Maryland, USA on 24 March, 2012.

"Pursuing The Dream" is for Tangerine Dream fans everywhere - the dream is alive!"

Some additional details from Greg:

"Viewing Suit & Tie Guy’s recent post on the deconstruction of Tangerine Dream’s 'Love On a Real Train' got me thinking about my own attempt at this song last year. That song was done as a part of a live performance called 'Pursuing the Dream' held on March 24, 2012, at the National Electronics Museum in Linthicum, Maryland, USA:

The museum performance was loosely based on a video of TanDream sketches that was created some six months prior. Although there’s no audio from the museum show, the video of the original sketches can still be viewed on YouTube

All of the instruments that appear in the video were used in the recording, although they show up in a somewhat random order. For anyone interested in the specifics, I didn’t document the instruments that were used, but I do recall the following:

For ‘Stratosphere’, a Kurzweil K2500 and Voyager provided the lead sounds. I believe the sequence was also done with the Voyager.

For ‘Purple Waves’, a Yamaha FS1R module played the underlying Harp sequence, while a Yahama CS15 provided the lead, a Kurzweil PC3 produced the fretless bass, and a Roland V-Synth (with a D-50 card) provided a bit of ornamentation.

Finally, for ‘Love On a Real Train’, a Doepfer Dark Energy module (processed through a E-H Small Stone Phaser) played the sequence from a Future Retro Mobius sequencer, while the PC3 and Korg Karma produced the various bass, pad and electric piano sounds.

Other instruments, including the Prophet 08 and Creamware Prodyssey ASB, were also pressed into service at various points."

They played a range of music from Bach to jazzy to wierd to stuff more like Vangelis or Moroder. The Range of synths wasn't just Moogs - MiniMoog, Little Phatty, Voyager, Moog Rogue, Korg MonoPoly, Jupiter 6, Juno 6, Roland SH01, Roland Sh-9, another really old Korg possibly a MiiniKorg700, a Polivoks - that might be all. MOOG SOUND LAB Season 3 | Washed Out | Far Away

Published on Mar 21, 2013 MoogMusicInc·230 videos

"Ernest Greene, the man behind Washed Out, stepped into the Moog Sound Lab and transformed his song Far Away from the 2011 album "Within and Without". In its original incarnation "Far Away" was built around vibes, bells & stringed instruments, but here Greene tears down the song and completely rebuilds it on a foundation of Moog Synths.

Lead Vocalist & Keyboardist Ernest Greene performs with a Little Phatty analog synthesizer. The harpsichord-esque sound created was then synced to Ableton Live and arpeggiated, and filter sweeps are then applied throughout the song.

Percussionist Cameron Gardner utilizes the Trap-Kat MIDI controller to trigger 3 Rack Mounted Minimoog Voyagers, which combined, create the kick, snare, and hi-hat patches.

Bassist Chris Gardner forgoes his bass guitar and carries the bottom end with a single Minitaur analog bass synthesizer.

Keyboardist and Vocalist Blair Greene uses a Select Series Minimoog Voyager as a controller for Animoog, Moog's iPad based Anisotropic synthesizer to recreate the song's pads.
