Messing Around with Leads on Analog Synths
video upload by Bata
"Just layering a few monosynths and attempting to get some leads off. Holding the camera was a bad idea for this as it resulted in multiple playing errors.
Synths used were Nord Wave, Moog Source, Behringer 2600, Studio Electronics Boomstar, Behringer Pro-1, and a Xoxbox. Akai MPC-X does the drums along with a Simmons SDS-V."

DX5 Playing P. Lion "Happy Children"
video upload by DX5
"One of the finest italo dance songs ever. There are some variations intentionally done (i.e: the sequence starting at 00:36 or the second bar on the main riff (01:00, 01:08, 01:50, 01:59 etc) acting as watermark :-).
Gear used:
Left: Roland JP8000
Kurzweil PC1x
Right: Roland JX-8P (Square main lead)
Backtrack previously recorded from scratch, instrument by instrument, with my own synthesized sounds, including a Simmons SDS8 drum module for drums and Roland Promars for bass.
Original song composed by Paolo Pelandi.
Performed here by DX5 Jose María Bara."

"Rare opportunity to acquire one of the rarest drum sequencers in the world. Only a dozen of them were made and only a few are still available today. This one is simply an amazing piece of technical engineering. It can still beat some of the best step sequencers out there. It is in amazing cosmetic condition and ready to be used."

"Looks and sounds great - quite punchy. And MIDI!
This versions is without the optional Reverb DSP.
It's a digital module triggered by external drum pads. Mainly based on samples derived from the big SDS X sampler. The SDS-2000 is the last drum brain from the company before the closure.
Each channel have own volume and a label:
-channel 1 bass
-channel 2 snare
-channel 3 hi tom
-channel 4 low tom
-channel 5 mid Tom
Each channel can be tuned to +/- 7 semitones (some sounds limited to 5)
Sounds can be triggered by Midi input.
Midi can also act as a trigger to midi converter.
Also a Midi THRU port.
The brain manages up to 5 analog inputs to trigger the internal sounds. The relative pad sensivity can be set using the "SENS" button.
TIP: you can trigger sounds using these combo: "VU METER" + "UP" + "DOWN" at the same time."

One of my favorite 80s songs ever
Alphaville - Forever Young (1984)
I used the Roland JX-3P for all synth pads (in original Jupiter-8).
The JX-3p is the best synth in my opinion for classic JP-8 sounds. Nearly identical sound.
I used the Logan String Melody 2 for all analog string sounds.
The add digital sounds are played with the PPG wave 2.2 synthesizer and the solo sound at the end of the track with the ARP Odyssey Mk.3
Drums are LinnDrum, Simmons, Samples
The Roland JX-3P Synthesizer from the year 1983 is a fantastic analog synth with the typical 80s sound. Here can you find the full JX-3P playlist with single sound demos and one synth demo tracks. Enjoy.

"Here we have a Simmons Digital Clap Trap Synth. This is straight from the 80’s in very excellent condition, works perfectly. Own a piece of the 80’s today whether you’re a musician or a collector! Here’s some info about the Simmons Digital Clap Trap -
This version of the Simmons uses a sampled clap plus noise that is controlled/manipulated by an analogue circuit. Can sound pretty realistic, or not if you push the settings.
Can be triggered by audio or trigger in. Has the Humanizer function (making the claps less precise) and pitch and decay control of the clap and the noise."

"Fully Functional. Tested trigger inputs with Roland tr606 and everything sounded as it should. Cannot confirm or deny but rumored to have been used by Prince. I left the pencil markings on front of face plate due to this (may be from him) although they could easily be rubbed off. Check the picture of the label from studio it was used by, allegedly rented to Prince for sessions."

"Excellent condition considering the age and rarity of these units. Sounds awesome and is highly playable and tweakable, making it easy to dial in the perfect clap sound.
The Simmons Digital Clap Trap was used on many hit-records of the 1980s and is becoming an increasingly rare collector’s item. Perfect for interesting clap sounds and noise hits, this hard to find Simmons piece does the trick. This version of the Simmons uses a sampled clap plus noise that is controlled/manipulated by an analogue circuit. Can sound pretty realistic, or not if you push the settings.
The Clap Trap allows you to balance between a clap and noise sound. Pitch and decay adjust for each sound. Very nice sound and surprisingly useful for such a straight-forward device. You can trigger it from an external trigger or audio input, manual trigger button or use the auto-trigger mode (with adjustable speed). The humanizer feature alters the pitch of successive claps. To hear the humanizer effect in action, use the manual trigger and play it very quickly."

Hardware Jams Distortion Challenge
video upload by Dj Puzzle
"It starts out pretty nasty. Give it a minute to develop. I have two distortion pedals in this one. A WMD Geiger Counter and a cheap $20 distortion I found on Amazon.
Running the Korg Volca through the cheap distortion and some drums through the Geiger Counter. Threw this together pretty quick."

I don't have a cover song today. There is a self-improvised track that I recorded during the corona lockdown period. So he's a bit older. It's a melancholic song inspired by the power of nature and the power of life itself. We can only solve the problems of the future together. Stop fighting each other. stick together
I call him Lift Me Up.
all synthesizer sounds: Moog Prodigy analog synthesizer (1979)
e-piano and analog strings: Korg EPS-1 (1982)
drums: Simmons SDS-8
voices: E-MU Emax SE
RetroSound synthesizer demo videos since january 2007.
