"Mimetic Tuesday" — Eurorack Modular Jam

Published on Jun 7, 2017 Mattias Häggström Gerdt

"Just got the final modules for the performance rack! Turns out TINRS Tuesday and Noise Engineering's Mimetic Sequent are like the best of friends.

I recorded three variations from Tuesday into Mimetic's three slots and multed them to two synth voices. That means easily being able to switch between parts. Also added some Mimetic random to make it dissonant, and then overwrote with a fresh recording from Tuesday. Worked like a charm!

Also finally have two Basimilus Iteritas Alter, so one kan do kick duties and one can do whatever I feel like!

Sequencing
• TINRS Tuesday
• Noise Engineering Mimetic Sequent
• Malekko Varigate 8+

Synth Voices

Modular Jam #1 with Elektron Analog Four - "Cognisent Compound"

Published on Aug 25, 2014 Matt Keenan

"This my first completed piece using the my eurorack rig. I've been noodling around with it since I got the first few modules (check my Vine and Instagram profiles), but here's a full jam.

You can download the track here: https://keenan.bandcamp.com/track/cog...

Equipment used:
- Elektron Analog Four
- Intellijel Metropolis, Atlantis
- Grayscale Synapse
- 4ms Rotating Clock Divider, Shuffling Clock Multiplier (and breakouts)
- Synthrotek Sequence 8, Echo
- Make Noise Maths, Pressure Points, MMG
- Doepfer A-143-4 Quad VCLFO/VCO

- Clock comes from the Analog Four into the Grayscale Synapse, to the 4ms RCD and the SCM. A slow clock goes to the Sequence 8, and a fast one goes to the Metropolis.

- For the bass the pitch is coming from the Sequence 8, goes into the common CV input on the Doepfer Quad. A low pitch square goes into the Maths’ channel 1. A gate comes from the RCD which gets inverted on Maths’ channel 2, then it controls the rise and fall of channel 1, creating an off-beat pulse effect. Output from Maths’ channel 1 goes into the MMG to roll of the top end, then out to mixer.

- On the Sequence 8 I use outputs from individual steps into the reset, to control how long the bass seqence is. If you want a two-step sequence, you patch step 3 into reset.

- The melody line is coming from the Metropolis, into the Atlantis. There’s also a triangle wave coming from the Doepfer Quad into the external input on the Atlantis’ mixer, which follows the bassline (but +1 octave) to add an extra voice. There’s a little bit of vibrato on the VCO coming from the internal modulator. And some modulation on the Atlantis’ filter from the other Doepfer Quad channels. A slow triangle LFO is put into the CV input of another LFO, to modulate the LFO rate. This then goes through a Maths channel to attenuate, then into the Atlantis’ VCF modulator. Final output from the Atlantis goes into a Maths channel to bring the volume down, then into the Synthrotek Echo. The Echo’s rate is being controlled by the Pressure Points, where I select one of four previously set rates. Output of echo goes into mixer."

Atlantis And Quantized Quadrants

Published on Apr 25, 2019 Intellijel

"The Palette case provides just enough room for Atlantis, Scales, and Planar 2, which is fantastic because they pair so well together.

Here Planar is controlling PITCH on the X axis, and filter cutoff on the Y axis. The GATE output is triggering the GATE input on Atlantis, but also the Sample & Hold, which is feeding the SHIFT input to control the MOD oscillator on Atlantis. This lets us play two notes on Atlantis within the same scale. Digiverb gives everything a nice sheen of reverb at the end."

"Manufacturer Description:
the atlantis is heavily inspired by the architecture and sound of the classic roland sh-101. it has always been one of our favorite synths and we really liked how the seemingly limited architecture allowed for all sorts of creative and musically useful sounds to be easily generated.

DreamsOfWires - Intellijel Atlantis & iPulsaret (iPad)

Published on Nov 21, 2016 DreamsOfWires

"Here's one I prepared earlier...

Ingredients: 1 sound of your choice, recorded into iPulsaret (any onboard mic will suffice). Mix and fold into a rough dough using iPulsaret's many parameters. Set to one side to cool. Then introduce some noodlings of filter resonance from the Atlantis, followed by a simple sequence of notes, into which you blend various waveforms until it starts to get boring.

Fortunately for me at least, such things don't seem to get old.

Recorded into Cubasis on an iPad with Virsyn's Audio Reverb. This composition started life as an iPulsaret recording, but in this version the Atlantis part was actually recorded first, then the iPulsaret overdubbed afterwards (thus making timing easier). Just a few recent, contextual video clips this time. It never seems to stop raining.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support, it means a lot."

Intellijel Atlantis & Metropolis Sombre Sequencing

Published on Oct 27, 2014 mylarmelodies

"A lovely mournful sequence on the fiercely well paired Atlantis/Metropolis combo (Pentatonic Minor scale, Atlantis dual osc detuned), using a Music Thing Random Looping Sequencer (which is clocked by Metropolis) to affect the Aux input's 'P.PrE' shift mode, adding variation. You can see me adjusting the Metropolis Aux attenuator knob to control the amount of modulation being applied.

Eventide Space Blackhole algorithm on output."

DreamsOfWires - Mini Mod & Ring SM (with some Atlantis)

Published on Nov 24, 2016 DreamsOfWires

"This was a spur of the moment recording, but I was playing around with the Ring SM and in a 'scary soundtrack' kind of mood, so I turned on the cameras in case anyone might want to hear it. It was recorded in one take, no multi-tracking. All sounds are the Mini Mod and Ring SM, except the shrill notes that come in at 5:10; they are from the Intellijel Atlantis, which is also running through the Mini Mod's VCA and using the second Contour Generator envelope for volume. Ignore my messy patching, I was just changing things as I thought of it.

Whilst I was creating the sounds it reminded me of an old recording I made using the Moogerfooger Ring Modulator, so I added the Atlantis into the mix here to give it that Roland-esque sound element. I've added a link to that recording at the end of the video for those who haven't already seen it.

The Mini Mod really can sound huge, warm, and characterful. It seems difficult to make it sound bad.

Ableton Live CV Tools Controlling Eurorack Modular Synthesizers

Published on Sep 5, 2019 Perfect Circuit

"Ableton Live CV Tools allows you to generate CV control signals for your analog and modular gear. You will need the CV Tools pack which can be downloaded for free and a DC coupled audio interface. We used a MOTU audio interface for this video.

In this video we used and Ableton Push 2 to control Ableton Live which was generating the drum sounds and control voltages to modulate and sequence the Intellijel Atlantis eurorack synthesizer voice. The Atlantis is run through the WMD/SSF DPLR delay which is also modulated by CV Tools.
